Weird just saw 2 in 2 days.
Goldbergs last night had King Rock & something else
CW "Originals" (I think) had Stryker eXtereme...always love them royalty free chime files

#385 8 years ago
Quoted from TopMoose:

I noticed that on The Goldbergs too - I think it was a 1972 Gottlieb World Series.

Yep good call, looking at the backglass now that was it.

Quoted from Jackontherocks:

This topic may have been started in the past but let's go after it again. I am watching Superman IV: The Quest for Peace and just noticed a pinball game in Lex Luther's room in the background about half way through the movie. Could not tell but maybe Firepower?

2 machines, a Vector, and BK, or B2K.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

The editors tend to stick the chime sounds in no matter what the game is.

Checking with my shield connections now...

Editor edits everything with original audio and then "sound team" replaces all the audio

Quoted from pezpunk:

Watching Daisy play Galaxy on Agents of Shield and hearing the EM sound effects reminded me of how every video game on TV up to and including Street Fighter and Doom used to have Atari 2600 Pac-Man sound effects slapped on them.

Are you sure you don't mean Yar's Revenge? I feel like that one gets the most usage.

A lot of that episode was set in a 1980's-era arcade, so I was hoping to see more.

Back to the arcade in this weeks episode, Adam gets a job there, with the same 2 games plus another

Now there's a game show I'd like to see make a comeback.

Gotta think it's one of my fav all timers right there. I remembered how good it was, but forgot how 80s it is.
I try to explain to people hows 80s WOF was when you have to use your monies to buy prizes after each round, but that's nothing compared to this. They had a gold plated dumbbell set...just fantastic.

Quoted from TopMoose:

In this week's Modern Family there was a row of modern pins at the bowling alley. They were hard to make out, but I think one was a Mustang.

Yeah walked in the room when that was on too... More than a few in that one

They really glossed over this one on the Price is Right mother's day special.

C'mon Drew...Moms are worth more than a Zizzle

Quoted from dmbjunky:

That's the new Spidey The Pin. What show was this on?

Yeah that's what I said! Sorry forgot Price is Right

#721 6 years ago
Quoted from dmbjunky:

Did you catch the list price? Was it in the showdown?

Not at all. It was part of the Showdown and they just said "...And this Pinball Machine..."
That's what I meant by "glossing over it"...it was kind of weird really.

#724 6 years ago
Quoted from bob_e:

Seriously? YOU watch, The Price is Right ?!?

Yeah it's a kind of popular show for the last 40 years or so....not to mention Babies seem to like watching it.

#727 6 years ago
Quoted from bob_e:

Do you watch Wheel of Fortune too?

No, I stopped watching WOF after they took away making you spend the monies you just won on prizes. Generations of kids growing up that don't even know what "And I'll take the rest on a gift certificate Pat" means is a goddamn shame.

#729 6 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

I stopped watching WOF when Chuck left.

Yeah I never saw any of those that I know of. Think Love Connection was the first Chuck i saw.

Striker eXtreme on season premiere of "The Strain."

1 month later
#810 6 years ago
Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Watched Rocky III last night to settle a dispute over whether "The Final Countdown" is in Rocky III or Rocky IV

Quoted from PinSinner:

Has anyone mentioned this scene from Rocky 3, when Paulie smashes the Rocky Pinball machine? I remember the scene vividly.
» YouTube video

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

I believe this is in this thread already,...

Quoted from xTheBlackKnightx:

Little known fact, the backglass was custom made for that special scene. The game was not Rocky. The Rocky game did not exist yet (it was in whitewood stage had not even been prototyped), and artwork had not been created or approved by Sylvester Stallone.
Additionally, there are more than ONE of these backglasses that were made for filming, in case the movie take "went bad".
The movie glass was EXTREMELY fragile (and much thinner than a backglass of the period) to give a dramatic breaking effect.
Several other collectors actually own the filming backglass, and can occasionally be seen for comparison.
The biggest difference is "Rocky logo color striping" and changes to background on the film backglass which is absent from the production game. Lack of score display windows and improper Gottlieb script style logo is also a complete giveaway of the status of the prop with movie style breakable "plate" glass, versus tempered safety glass which was standard after around 1980 (which the change of processes is a contribution to backglass problems with flaking along with the inking process and glass heat treatments).
Rocky pinball was produced started in September 1982, Rocky III was released in May 1982.
Pauli can be seen standing next to a Bally Space Invaders when he throws the bottle into the machine.

Quoted from adania:

Yesterday I was watching the Archie comic inspired tv show Riverdale (S01E05), and noticed a blurry old EM in the background of a scene that was maybe in the student lounge of the high school.... I'll keep an eye out for it to reappear more clearly as I continue to watch the season and try to get more info for an ID.

Yeah it's a fake machine. It pops up quite a bit as there seems to be a lot of down time in the student lounge in Riverdale
We would have loved a lounge but I guess we didn't have a malt shop either

#946 6 years ago

Yep been seeing that one lately...the name was always too confusing for me to remember to mention it
