Pin on right definitely says Monster on backglass.

Pretty sure that's bad retheming for the show, not the actual backglass.

I noticed a few Kojak posts with pins. Here is Kojak-A long way from Times Square aired on 11/30/75 season 3 episode 12 appears to have two pins, one is Play Ball and other need to figure out. Guys get in fight on them.

Here's a lightened version:[quoted image]

Quoted from pinball2020:

You guys and girls are really making me watch every single episode of this crap? LOL. The things we do for pinball .
Here is Ghost Wars, Season 1 Episode 4, "The Exorcism of Marcus Moon"
They switched "out of order signs" (EDIT: or as @pinkmonk said - just moved this machine down) and some more details are visible on the machine on the right.
The machine on left has a motorcycle.
The machine on the right is a "Monster Splat" - looks like a retheme.
EDIT: Oh----LOL - PinMonk you were updating your posts while I was watching and adding mine. - Yes, while your town is being annihilated by ghosts it is important to have a good mix of imaginary pinball titles for them to play.

"Monster" pin is a Williams Time Warp:

too many games to name in this movie
Just released
PINBALL: The Man who Saved the Game

It is a cute little movie.
A love story really,
two actually
The love Roger had for the game of pinball
and the love Roger had for Ellen
his future and present wife.
Really well made, the writing, acting and direction were all very good.
Buy the movie online for $10 or rent it.

Figured this had to be mentioned by now in this thread, but search is only showing one other post in a separate thread, from one of my favorite Columbo episodes "The Conspirators", 1978. Now, what game is it?

Use the topic index at the top of any page in this thread, click on keypost summary (which makes the list alphabetical).

Columbo is there, including a couple grabs from this episode.

Less clean way of doing it. If you use the topic index the shows are grouped together without the clutter of the posts that may not be the one you're looking for. Topic Index is the fastest way to see if a show you're looking for is there, especially if there are a lot of hits like American Pickers, etc, where topic search could be much more cluttered to scan.

Search American Pickers using topic search, then compare that to using the Topic Index, sorted by Keypost summary. Night and day difference in terms of finding whether the episode you're considering adding is already there.

It was originally a Gottlieb Soccer (1975). Here are better pics. The art department working on the show also made decals for the playfield to hide the soccer theme.

Most of the time re-themed backglasses for movies aren't that great. I actually kinda like this one! Carry that backglass theme to the playfield plastics, lol!

The one being unloaded is a CC / Stern Rawhide. Not sure which.

edit - don't see a Chicago Coin sticker on the door, so probably Stern.

Caught this on The Rookie: Feds S1 E18

I don’t see a title on the backglass and it seems odd to have 5 digit scoring like that (with a real 1’s digit). I suspect that’s a fake backglass, but maybe someone recognizes the cabinet?

Bally Expressway.

Edit - almost positive I've seen a Bally Expressway with LED lighting like that on another show. Assuming it's from a prophouse.

Edit 2 - it was a Kia commercial and made this thread.

What is the purpose of changing backglass for movie/tv show?

#4181 11 months ago
Quoted from Manhattan:

I think it's overkill (especially for companies that are LONG GONE), but basically to eliminate any copyright/trademark issues from manufacturers that may not want their named product featured in a certain show or affiliated with certain storylines (serial killer that's a fan of Stern pinball and has pins in his dungeon, etc). Just avoids any after-shooting headaches and legal issues.

Yes same reason why soda or beer brands bottles or any product with a label or cans tilted sideways where unable to read the label in movies .

Not only that, but bigger companies usually want to get a license fee if their logo or brand is shown. That's why you're more likely to see real brands/logos in big-budget movie productions (more realism) vs. lower budget TV shows littered with generic products.

Product placement works the opposite way, though. The product maker pays to be in the show. But generic-izing products is way more common.

Actually, it works both ways...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_displacement

"Product displacement is the removing of trademarked products from primarily visual media in order to avoid the payment of licensing fees, if the trademark owner objects, or if the broadcaster would prefer not to publicise a product for free, if the owners have not paid for it to be included in a programme."

Here is a hard one this is from Apple TV+’s TETRIS movie looks like the art is custom but they are DMD games (also a bit of a goof on the production as this scene is supposed to take place in 1988)

Most of these I have seen have thin siderails with the flipper buttons below.

I'm gonna stick with the Gottlieb Premier theme and guess Wipeout

saw an old Price is Right episode today,They are offering Attila the Hun pinball machine as a prize.

Quoted from boscokid:

Looks like the Gottlieb logo on the top of the head is yellow, which would lead me to guess its maybe Silver Slugger?
Cactus Jack's has the Gottlieb logo in orange.

#4194 11 months ago

The buttons and side rails on the cue ball wizard and the far Blue game look identical, as far as placement and screws...
It looks to me like three Gotliebs... Cue Ball, Cactus Jack's or Silver Slugger, and something from the same year as Cue Ball Wizard.

#4195 11 months ago

Wipeout and gladiators are both 1993 Gottlieb with blue cab art.
Super Mario from 1992 also has a blue cab.
