Bally Flip Flop, very briefly seen in the opening of "Every Which Way But Loose" 1978.

Not gonna lie, that's an impressive catch for a 44yo movie in a 9yo thread

Haha, this thread has re-wired my brain to always look for pins in film. Also happened to see a Flip Flop ad earlier today and recognized the cabinet art so got lucky on that.

Saw a nostalgia-oriented public service anti-smoking TV commercial about getting your lungs screened and it included a little snippet of folks playing pins in the 70s. You can see it on Screenyourlungs.org front page too. But it was almost like they were lumping the perfectly harmless vice of pinball in with cigarettes, roller-discoing in the middle of the street and driving without a seatbelt. XD

Did anyone else notice that the Paragon appearing in ST S4 E2 had bright white LEDs installed in the playfield?

Correct me if I’m wrong and it’s fairly nerdy observation but I’m pretty sure LEDs weren’t all that common in mid 80’s arcades and only had incandescents?

Ohh that’s right, Hollywood gets to change the rules and reinterpret history. Nothin but a small oversight…

Ha Ha , only place on the planet where this would be noticed or discussed .

Short shorts and tube socks. Never out of style.

Love the guy standing next to the Atari Middle Earth, trying to act cool, while really scamming on the ladys playing pinball.

Also think that is a WMS Pat Hand about 3 pins from the left? Then again maybe not.

NCIS LA: S3 E8 Space Mission is in the background in an apartment.

What's worse, that, or a solid state having EM chime sounds?

#3612 1 year ago
Quoted from bob_e:

In Men In Black III agent K enters Cosmic Lanes. There are 3 Pins there. Anyone have a clue? The first is a baseball game two player animated backbox. 2nd is a Gottlieb wedge head. the last one looks like another baseball themed game.
But they should not have been there since the ban on pinball machines in New York in 1969.

My first post like six years ago did not have pictures

Solid state having EM sounds is usually edited to avoid copyright issues. But LED's are probably really installed in the game.

LED's in EM or early SS games are like pineapple in pizza.

Many/most sounds in TV shows and movies aren't real - they are added later through a process called foley. It's pretty interesting. https://www.masterclass.com/articles/film-101-understanding-foley-sound-and-why-foley-sound-is-important#what-is-foley-art

Pawn stars Season 10. Twister and Scorpion
Chum paid $1000 for the twister, wouldn't buy the scorpion, the "expert" told him scorpions don't sell.

I'm a film and sound nerd, so I'm pretty familiar, but EM sounds is still a pet peeve.

I still think it's funny in Despicable Me there's a "Minion Invaders" pin that uses Williams Space Shuttle sound effects.

Agreed.

(I love movies, but just learned about this 6 months ago and found it fascinating )

One on the right is Speakeasy, the left might be Embryon.

Edit; don't think Embryon, the body is standard and doesn't match Fathom either.

Scene with Mark and Dan
at grocery store *arcade section in front of the store) where they confront
a junior manager of store that was giving Becky a hard time (possibly calling her a slut or worse)
(she just started new job as cashier).
When Dan came to confront the manager to maybe bust his chops,
Mark had already been there and hit the kid in the stomach, ( taking way Dan's thunder)
Mark was playing a video game, when Dan finally arrived.
Game was actually a Baby PacMan Flipper video hybrid game
with the graphics on the marquee changed to say Marvin (hiding the name Baby Pacman)
But you can still clearly see the characters of Baby and one of the ghosts (Inky?).

It's a fun way to pass the time and I've learnt about games I've never heard of before and some of the guys knowledge here is unbelievable .

Now we're talking. Samantha Fox is A+ in my books. Always had a thing for blondes and especially leather. Think I need a Barb Wire
