There's a particular second-season episode of Star Trek TOS called "A Piece of the Action" where Kirk and co. are being held captive in the storeroom on a planet run by gangsters and they have a variety of pinball machines in there in various states of disrepair... but I have no idea which pins they are. Most of them seem to be identical save for one. Here's a couple screencaps:

Anyone have any idea which pins these are?

Just watched the movie The Purge. Not the best movie and don't understand the hype, etc. but during one scene in game room with pool table Ethan Hawk smashes the glass on a pin. Appears to have yellow stars on the side cabinet and a rocket or spaceship on the back glass. Anyone know the pin?

Season 2, Episode 7 of Daria. During the arcade scene, the sound effects playing in the background are all from Space Shuttle.

I understand but don't understand why the games names have to be blacked out just like the beer in movies or shows. Can't show the name unless they pay for it, right

The First one appears to be an altered Stern Galaxy. The vortex and the title on the back glass are changed, but the planet and the two comets on the lower left are the same.
On the side of the cabinet where a red and yellow banner with the name Galaxy followed by a line of stars has been replaced by that yellow banner with blue stars.

Yup. Ok well glad to know they didn't mess these up for only one use at least. I guess they keep them in a props department or something.

I saw 2 pins in movies this weekend.
There's one in the early scenes of Dodgeball at the Average Joes' gym Cyclone?
I also spotted an EM at the front of Bubbles' garage when I was watching Swearnet.

This is one stupid movie but in the back there is a pin conversion maybe on back glass and cabinet. Hard to believe they went through the trouble to make it. Movie is Idiocracy came out in 2006. It is suppose to be whoever is the President in the movie, Mach gold or whatever, man this movie sucks but here is picture. Maybe I could use some of those beer bottles above pin in my collection.

Same game type as in the TV show, The Crazy Ones. Bally Expressway.

#234 8 years ago

-2001 Owen Wilson movie called "Behind Enemy Lines" had a T2 very out of place. The game was in the middle of a shootout. If I remember correctly I think it was outside too.

-Prison Break Season 2 when Brad Bellick and his partner are looking for Scofield, Burrows and the money they head into a bar. In that bar is a Indianapolis 500 (with fade no less)

#235 8 years ago

Another episode of the Mentalist. Another pinball machine, this time Patrick is playing it. The blue cabinet with shooting stars, the backglass had planets on it. It looked like the Orbitor 1 back glass was put over top of the regular backglass. A TV prop for sure.

Stern game, might be a modified Flight 2000.

There is one in an earlier season of soa too. In the club house but hard to see what it was. At least an EM, white red and blue. If I remember correctly it had a star painted around one of the buttons. When I researched it a bit back when I saw it I remember thinking it could be an Evel Knievel one.

#241 8 years ago

an episode of malcolm in the middle begins with the boys playing a fighting game at an arcade that has a cactus canyon and i believe gilligans island behind them. both are on free play.

A few of those pins are historic inaccuracies. They are newer than the setting of the film. Fun movie, a classic none the less. American Graffiti was set in the summer of 1962. It was filmed in 1973 or 1974.

The pins in the arcade are all newer than 1962. Buckaroo 1965; Base Hit 1967; Royal Guard 1968; Wild Wild West 1969; Sky Rocket 1970; and Vampire 1971.

In the Theory of everything (2014) a Stephen Hawking biopic. Eddie Redmayne (Stephen Hawking) and his friends are mentor are playing pinball in a Pub. The scene is supposed to happen in 1963, before he is diagnosed with ALS.

Which pin is it?
