Flip-a-Card/Card Trix?

Definitely a Flip-A-Card...well, I think so.

Yeah, most likely, although, almost the same amount were produced,
I'm pretty sure the majority of Card Trix were exported to Italy..

Look what I saw on a new PODS commercial.

The side of the cab may say PODS but it looks like a POS. Anyone adding it to their wish list?

#806 6 years ago

Actually looks solid. Cool that someone is using pinball in advertising.

PODS commercial.

The cabinet is a POD Container. Must be a photo shop, but surely a working game could be done, as a 1 off. The little roll up door would be a challenge to make in correct scale.

Added over 6 years ago: The backglass is for "Stern Pinball" an EM pin.

Watched Rocky III last night to settle a dispute over whether "The Final Countdown" is in Rocky III or Rocky IV

I believe this is in this thread already, but Paulie destroys a Rocky pinball machine in one of the early scenes. I remember reading somewhere it was another machine with a "rocky" backglass added, and the actual Rocky machine was made later.

...oh, and Final Countdown is in neither movie.. lol

It's not a different game, the BG in the movie is just different than the BG that Gottlieb put out with the actual game. I think the display windows were missing or something was different on the movie pin BG.

And I didn't think the Final Countdown (song from Europe?) was in any of the Rocky movies.

Has anyone mentioned this scene from Rocky 3, when Paulie smashes the Rocky Pinball machine? I remember the scene vividly.

Quoted from xTheBlackKnightx:

Little known fact, the backglass was custom made for that special scene. The game was not Rocky. The Rocky game did not exist yet (it was in whitewood stage had not even been prototyped), and artwork had not been created or approved by Sylvester Stallone.
Additionally, there are more than ONE of these backglasses that were made for filming, in case the movie take "went bad".
The movie glass was EXTREMELY fragile (and much thinner than a backglass of the period) to give a dramatic breaking effect.
Several other collectors actually own the filming backglass, and can occasionally be seen for comparison.
The biggest difference is "Rocky logo color striping" and changes to background on the film backglass which is absent from the production game. Lack of score display windows and improper Gottlieb script style logo is also a complete giveaway of the status of the prop with movie style breakable "plate" glass, versus tempered safety glass which was standard after around 1980 (which the change of processes is a contribution to backglass problems with flaking along with the inking process and glass heat treatments).
Rocky pinball was produced started in September 1982, Rocky III was released in May 1982.
Pauli can be seen standing next to a Bally Space Invaders when he throws the bottle into the machine.

You bastard!!! But you are right. Thanks for not including me in your post.

I took a better screenshot. Watch the video/commercial and there is actual multi-ball going on along with active flippers (starts at 0:08). Pretty creative, IMHO.

I don't have a screenshot, but there's a Dish Network commercial featuring the Property Brothers that has a PSO (pinball-shaped object) getting hoisted through a 2nd floor balcony and spilling quarters out its coin door.

#815 6 years ago

'Mystic Pizza', there is a pin in the background, during the scene in the bar and Julia Roberts playing pool. (Don't ask why I know this). The pin has red displays and all of them are flashing.

Love this song. Windows 95 bonus video. I must have watched it 1,000 times. But I hate the break in the middle of the video.

not actual games but from the most recent episode of Rick and Morty:

#823 6 years ago

Pocket Pool looks like a mid-70s Williams game ... that allows up to 5 players...?

the other one looks like it might be a DMD, has a row of light bulbs for a topper, a STTNG-style gun launcher, and some kind of slot on the bottom that could be a dispenser like on Slugfest.

#824 6 years ago

The rick and morty pins look like they were done by someone who knows at least a bit about pinball. Classic EM and modern dmd with gun launch.

I think if this show sticks around for a couple more seasons we will see a real Rick and morty game for sure

Slugfest.

Looks more like early SS. It looks like it has 7 segment displays.
And did anyone notice that the one on the left looks like it has a bill validator?

In the episode of TJ Hooker called "The Connection", guys are using a pinball store as a front to sell PCP, and in this store there is a Black Hole all lit up in it's glory.

Don't know if this counts but I was watching Sanford & Son, Fred and Lamont go to a bar and Fred complains about the place not having a pinball machine and he walks out yelling at them to "get a pinball machine!"

Starts at about 13:00

The Flash...Season 4, Episode 1. Looks like they are all rethemes. But I was able to barely catch the side of a RBION on a later frame from a different angle.

Beat me to it! RBION was the only one I caught as well; looks like the others have fake translites. Wonder which one they wrecked putting that guy through the glass?

Yep and there is a Getaway there as well along with a couple others. What kind of TV shows are we watching that feel we need arthritis medicine?

My theory is that only us old guys watch TV now.

Wasn't able to capture screen, but saw a couple of pins in Paul Blart during arcade scene where he is playing Guitar Hero.

STAR TREK S2 E17 A Piece of the Action. Kirk Spock and McCoy are being held in a store room. There are several wood rail pins and a slot machine in the back ground. I could not read the titles. But the story had them on a planet that used a book about the Chicago Mobsters as a basis for their society. The cars were from the late 20s and early 30s Pins were not period correct.
