OK, here is my .02 worth.
Staying in Kaanapali. I like the Hyatt. Stayed there a few times. Club level floors are nice as they have snacks avail most of the time. You say big deal. Everything is expensive in Hawaii. It is nice to be able to have access to this kind of ammenity.
If your staying in Wailea, I highly suggest the Grand Wailea Resort or if finances permit, The Four Seasons. Just beautiful.
In Kapalua, The Ritz has my vote.
As for things to do, Kaanapali would have the most to do with Whalers Village, and then either Kapalua or Wailea. If tyour a beach person, I would suggest Kaanapali.
Hope this is helpful. Lahania in the eve was nice to stroll through.
