My cousin's (KingNine, Arcade, & PMoncla) and I started a local Pinball Group earlier this year in our area. We cover the Gulf Coast in SE Texas and SW Louisiana, and include members from Houston, Dallas, and Austin as well. We've rapidly grown to over 100 members in about 7 months! Today, the Beaumont Enterprise did a story about our group, and how we are trying to bring pinball in our area back to the forefront. We even mentioned Pinside.com in our story, and we made the front page! Here's a couple photos from today's paper. We'd like to invite any of you that would love to join in our mission. https://www.facebook.com/groups/GulfCoastPinballClub/

The digital hearing aids work great with my iPhone.

    "rare"? LOL...

Article did make me wonder how many people above me are international players, and it's a surprising chunk...looks like right around the 50% range!

But I'm still in the top 100 in the US right now, so I'm happy. =)

As my cousin, Dennis, stated in our FB group - the reporter "mixed up a fact or two but we were all speaking so fast I'm amazed he got what he got lol." To the casual reader, though, it's good publicity for our hobby. Since the article ran this morning, we've already gained over 10 new members. One local man just surfaced his 1968 Williams Pit Stop that he has sitting around that isn't working. We're going to pull together and help him save it. The way I see it, that's one less pin making it's way into someone's burn pile.

    That's awesome.

Yeah, it looks like a neat pin. I don't think I've ever played one before. From his photo he posted, the BG and PF look good, but the cabinet has seen better days. I'm anxious to see it in person.

The article was great. Even though they messed up a couple of things, we have already received so many positive comments from people who are fond of pinball and want to get back into it again.
The Pit Stop sounds like it has ball count stepper issues and should be an easy fix. Fingers crossed.
The newspaper took about 50 photos, but of course could not use most of them in the article. They even had us slide the glass off and took some close ups that I would love to get copies of sometime.

Hey. Sorry it has taken me so long to chime in here buddy. It was fun doing that article but my 12 year old daughter was VERY sad they left her out of the article and pics. All in all a good piece about pinball. I've had tons of comments from people I know that saw it and reminisce about old times playing the game. One was a cool story about being a boy in New Orleans and playing the flipper less ones for money.

I bet you do! I smile every time I look at it. I used it as an example of how the hobby has evolved into people making their own "mods" for the games but he didn't use any of that stuff. We gave him enough info to fill a whole page or more.

Those extra pics came out great! The last one is awesome from a personal perspective. Some great shots of the machines.
