Yikes, TWD is jelly side down. I can imagine someone saying it will fit through a door on it's side and then flopping it that way once they sat it down. There is a shipping blanket all the way around it. The apron would bang in to the glass. ...or else it fell over?

What's the rest of the story?

Quoted from ForceFlow:

I've never seen this much dirt on a board before.

Looks like a mud dauber nest was knocked off there. Got a few patches like that on the wall of my carport that I need to hose off.

edit - jinx!

Notice the rubbers for the lanes were coated with orange on that Cactus Canyon from the balls. Someone had been playing that rusty nightmare.

Congrats on the find and restoration!

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

Is that fire damage??? Wtf!!

When something shorts to ground, the full current flows continuously through resistors like that to ground and they heat up like a toaster oven, except this appears to be a Data East MPU board, and not a slice of bread.

Quoted from cottonm4:

60s rock band The Who did not start getting big until after they started destroying their eguipment live on stage.
Jimi Hendrix set a Stratocaster on fire with use of lighter fluid.

Goofy stage antics are part of the show. I remember seeing a video about the gear KISS uses on stage. The guitar tech was explaining how before each show, he rebuilds the cheap guitar that Paul will use to play half a song on and then smash on stage that night. He touches up the paint on the body, and glues back together or replaces the neck with a light weight one, etc. Yay superglue!

Did someone leave a lit cigarette in there while the head box was down and it started something in the ashtray on fire?

No, you can see the melted/burning goo ran down the side of the back box, so that means it was vertical during the fire.

There was a Q*bert's Quest at FPF about 5yrs ago. It was fun to play a few games on that strange figure 8 layout and get the hang of saving the ball with those flopped flippers all the way at the bottom.

Fun? its OK. Do I need one? enjoy a few plays at a show and keep waking.

Check out how the replacement glass (not from Multimorphic) was delivered!

I frequently order playfield glass from Pinball Life 1 or 2 sheets in a box like that. I think its says don't lay flat to keep folks from waking on it in shipment.? The first thing I do when I receive it is lay it flat to open it.

The new glass often has a haze on it that takes a lot of elbow grease to remove. Naptha works best.

#4740 11 months ago
Quoted from Mathazar:

I'm thinking of refreshing several of my SS pins with new glass. PBL has been mentioned a couple times today - is that a decent deal for new standard size glass (2 for $99)?

That used to be a good deal to have new glass delivered to your door in a couple days, but with $49 ups shipping and $29 tax =$177 for 2 sheets, it is less appealing now.

Your local pinball parts supplier may offer a 'no shipping charge' deal if you pick it up at a show.

I have warmed up and flattened all kinds of warped pinball plastics in the oven, so a ramp must be possible. (You place them between Pyrex flat baking dishes in the oven at 125F for 20min and use some parchment paper to prevent sticking.)

#4824 10 months ago
Quoted from girloveswaffles:

Is there any special way you allow them to cool after heating them?

It would continue to heat if I took it out and left it between the hot baking dishes, so I normally just lay them out to cool, but for something really warped I guess I would place something heavy on top while it cooled.

The Lucas Electric motto: “Get home before dark.”
Lucas–inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas–inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
“I’ve had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never experienced any prob…
If Lucas made guns, wars would not start either.
Did you hear about the Lucas powered torpedo? It sank.
It’s not true that Lucas, in 1947, tried to get Parliament to repeal Ohm’s Law. They withdrew their efforts when they met too much resistance.
Did you hear the one about the guy that peeked into a Land Rover and asked the owner “How can you tell one switch from another at night, since they all look the same?” “He replied, it doesn’t matter which one you use, nothing happens!”
Back in the ’70s Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which didn’t suck.
Quality Assurance phoned and advised the Engineering guy that they had trouble with his design shorting out. So he made the wires longer.
Why do the English drink warm beer? Lucas makes the refrigerators.
Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone.
Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb.
Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times sunwise around your car chanting: “Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant.”
Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random frequency.

Nice work! Reminds me of Smash-Up Derby cars. Old straps can really get weak. Wouldn't hurt to write the date on them and pitch them after at a certain age. We are taught to inspect and replace PPE with any sign of wear, but I have ratchet straps that are old enough to vote.
