Just a little wood glue and Novus, it'll be good as new

I talked to the guy a bit, he told me he was helping an old lady clean out her yard and it got left outside when it stopped working. Someone local is grabbing it to try to restore it, which is amazing to me but glad it didn't get thrown away

This abomonation got donated to us today. Rich old guy downsizing needed it gone. Even the leg levelers were painted LOL. The paint job cost him $1200. Really sucks because the playfield and plastics are pretty nice. Gonna have to find the right buyer!

Quoted from ClarkGriswold:

Not a pinball, but this should go well with the pinball coffee table that some other idiot made. SMH![quoted image]

Reminds me of the Star Wars chair which has a bit of a reputation over on KLOV

Quoted from rollinover:

What was the story or goal here.

The art kinda matched some paintings and things he had in his garage. Also he seemed very well off so he probably wipes his ass with $1200

Quoted from Markharris2000:

At first I thought, “why would anyone change the original”, but it looked ok so who are we to say. But When I zoom in on the painted cabinet, it actually looks pretty poorly done! So it’s a very odd piece of art done in a pretty poor way.

Yeah it's got visible brushstrokes all over it, feels uneven, etc. It's weird because whatever white they used for the back and head frame feels pretty smooth. If the rest of the game was nice and smooth it wouldnt be too bad.

Quoted from gdonovan:

Oddly yes; went out and purchased a Firepower and Space Shuttle and for some unfathomable reason I love the Blackout better then the other two. I never get bored playing it and love the sounds it makes. Getting Blackout is maddening to pull off and I'll keep hitting the start button till I pull it off most of the time.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

That's not odd, Blackout is an absolutely fantastic game, one of my favorites. Yours looks great

Worth taking home such a rare game despite the condition.

Quoted from Jappie:

Definitely! Even if you had to build a new cabinet for it. As long as it's complete on the inside.

worst case, you part it out and get parts to people to save other games. I wouldnt be surprised if the water damage reached the playfield inside

Not "horror" in the traditional sense but maybe this pic isn't the best showing off of color matching skill...

Quoted from ForceFlow:

It's a shame to see those games further deteriorated. Photos and videos popped up a few years ago here's what they looked like then:

That really sucks. They looked restorable in the video. Now they look like parts games.

Quoted from Markharris2000:

"Billy" really didn't have any tools or parts when he was maintaining this machine over the years. Points for keeping it working on location (I assume).

To further prove that theory, I found a Revlon nail file in the coin box lol. Must have been used to clean switches. I wonder if this was just some random guy operating it in his bar BITD, not an established operator.

Saw some pinball horror that could have been. Judge Dredd had batteries with a 9305 date code. Game ROMs are labeled 1993 so these are close to if not the original batteries. No corrosion at all somehow. Shoutout Eveready Industrial batteries

Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I love that stuff!!! Did you snap a pic of the audits? My LW3 had original batteries from the 90s installed, and they weren’t an issue because the game was turned on every single day for nearly 30 years. The audits were such a neat time capsule

Sadly the batteries were dead

Not sure where else to post this, not really "horror" in the normal sense but love the descriptions where people try to sound knowledgeable about pinball machines. "Ball injector" sounds painful, maybe that could be in the new Saw movie

Quoted from Mathazar:

I'm thinking of refreshing several of my SS pins with new glass. PBL has been mentioned a couple times today - is that a decent deal for new standard size glass (2 for $99)? I've never bought new pinball glass before. Or do most of you guys try to get cheaper glass locally from a glass company?

Here in SoCal I can get a sheet of playfield glass for $55. Shop around a bit, call for a quote first, as I had people quote me as high as $120. If you grab it locally don't have to deal with shipping which for something like glass is the ideal solution.

Customer's Pinbot... Daily reminder not to overfuse

That's right, I forgot that these bridges arent fused. For some reason i was thinking the main AC fuse should have blown. I think that might have been overfused but not sure (found the fuse holder laying in the coin bucket, no fuse).

Well, so far after changing the transformer, wiring, bridges, recapping power supply, repinning GI connector game seems to be running ok. So far no clue what would have caused that to melt down outside of the bridge itself shorting out. I will be adding the fuses as pointed out above.

Chopped up pieces of a Medieval Madness inside a conversion Fast n Furious Supercars

20230811_111855.jpg20230811_111855.jpg20230811_111858.jpg20230811_111858.jpg20230811_111904.jpg20230811_111904.jpg
#4933 8 months ago
Quoted from Electronmagic:

Game manufacturers did this from time to time with blemished cabinets or extras. The good news is it almost certainly wasn't a complete game that was chopped up, just an empty cabinet.

That probably is the case. This cabinet was originally a Cruisn Exotica or USA, which were made by Midway. The wood isnt in a spot that an operator would have had to modify to convert the game, I dont think.

Everyone knows you go from front leg to back leg, not left tot right leg!

It woulda made it easier to dolly if it were like that! It was a real bitch pulling it in the shop

The CRT is the most valuable part of that. Sad to see perfectly good games get dumped
