I just added fuses to all my old Williams games a couple weeks ago checked the power fuse values and added the missing thermistors. Now I see what happens with out the fuses at the rectifier. That’s burn the house down stuff there .

Ive added a few of these to my Early Williams games to prevent rectifier issues:

Game could always be rethemed as a "China Syndrome" game.

Williams did eventually add fuses to the bridges, ironically "FIRE" was the first game with them.
Quoted from gdonovan:Williams did eventually add fuses to the bridges, ironically "FIRE" was the first game with them.
It would have been thematically appropriate to have FIRE burst into flames during gameplay. Each game comes with a glass of water and a Pingulp to have it ready.
Quoted from Robotworkshop:I think that overfusing elsewhere in the game allows too much current to go through the bridge, shorting the bridge, then the meltdown happens.
Not so, I had the same thing happened to a Williams Sorcerer pinball. I was lucky,
the transformer did not get fried, and only the red wires melted together.
I think product management cut cost in this part/area of the machines because
the games would all be out of warranty...The joys of engineered obsolesces.
Quoted from Mathazar:I'm thinking of refreshing several of my SS pins with new glass. PBL has been mentioned a couple times today - is that a decent deal for new standard size glass (2 for $99)? I've never bought new pinball glass before. Or do most of you guys try to get cheaper glass locally from a glass company?

Quoted from ForceFlow:It's an ok price, but you also need to factor in shipping.
I've always gotten my glass from local glass shops. It's much cheaper ($30-$40 per sheet) if you can find the right place that does it.
Quoted from Knxwledge:Here in SoCal I can get a sheet of playfield glass for $55. Shop around a bit, call for a quote first, as I had people quote me as high as $120. If you grab it locally don't have to deal with shipping which for something like glass is the ideal solution.
I got glass locally, too. Make sure you tell the glass shop that you do not want the identifier "bug" imprinted on the glass that states that the glass is tempered, unless you do not mind that identifying "bug" . Make sure that you get a copy of the ordere showing no bug is to be put on. The glass shop had to eat one they made for me because someone did not follow instructions---and I had it in writing.

That's a fun fact and a fun game.

Time to strip all that off an install some eyelets for those parts. I've rebuilt several boards that looked like that.

What is it about Data East attracting the hackiest of hackers?
Was he sneaking a quick dart between games?! Lol

I cleaned it all up and got busy with the soldering iron, played it for over a year with no issues then sold it to someone I know and still ok.
But yeah your way is the best way but I’m no pro
Quoted from TheCnyPinGuy:Pop bumper Coil
I had to fully destroy it to remove it from the plunger

How do you get those pinballs to stay in the gumball machine? I've tried two separate times with different machines and the pinballs broke the glass both times.

I have the same gumball machine filled with pinballs for 15 yrs without braking the glass

Honestly, never thought about it. I just had balls as they get retired from the machines.
Never even crossed my mind the glass break lol
Doing it for quite some time

Other than the apron and the lockdown bar, it is hard to see that anything would be salvageable on this one. Maybe the plastics would clean up OK, maybe.

The legs, metal brackets and ball guides could probably be salvaged too, maybe even the boards. Bigfoot with mud could be sold as a high end custom mod. And just put the wiring harness in the dish washer and it'll clean up nicely!

That's some serious nightmare fuel there. They said insurance only covers their building and not all the games.
Silver lining is they did manage to save some populated playfields.

Why would someone do this to a pinball machine you ask... Well, because there weren't enough remnants left over to do the pool table.

Wow. That’s a lot of house for under $1m. Unfortunately it was decorated by Stanley Kubrick for The Shinning II. There is something so creepy about certain houses frozen in time.
