Aren't they supposed to be greased? Lol. I actually did put a thin coat of Ox-guard on a couple of my drop target boards.

Bringing the pins back to pinball
[quoted image]
Maybe a Duotron thing. When I got my game it did not have the rubber ring wrapped around the center console, but had pins or brads installed to contain the captive ball. You just want to add some small playfield nails.....
And I confess that when I opened up that first game (Duotron) I (a) thought the slam tilt mechanism might be ball storage for a hot minute and (b) did not know about or find the on/off switch for a few weeks. I just pulled the plug.
Quoted from DropTarget:Seen better days.
Thanks to C.J. from FB.

A little Novus 2 and a soft cloth…
Quoted from JT-Pinball:File a dispute with your credit card company.
I had tried that once and the credit card companies do not get involved with auction purchases.
Picked this up the other day. Stored outside for the last 3 years, under a tarpaulin but otherwise exposed. Rat poop and chewed insulation everywhere. There was even grass growing into the playfield mechs from the underside. And of course, plenty of rust. Surprisingly, playfield looks ok apart from some planking. And the backglass is somehow undamaged.
I'm keen for a challenge so this will play like new eventually.

Quoted from PinballAir:Hopefully it was free
Not free, but close enough to it.
Quoted from Electronmagic:How is that backglass not roached?
One of life's greatest mysteries! Summer is particularly hot here, so I have no idea how it survived.
My 6 million dollar man spent almost 10 years in an unheated barn.
The glass is still a 9.5.
Would be a 10 but some dope put a scratch in the ink.
Some glasses survive better than others.
I have another one ... both are for sale. I really do like the art on this one

Simple design, but is it wrong that I like that playfield?
Quoted from Gamemodder:This is my horror. It’s been restored but this is what it looked like when we picked it up.
[quoted image]
And a red cab JL too. Certainly the more attractive of the two versions.
Quoted from Gamemodder:looked like when we picked it up.
what does it look like now?
Quoted from shimmydisc:Cleaning up a Bow & Arrow. I’ve never seen rubber rings melted like this.

My guess is they tried to glue the crumbling pieces back together, and that is a glue mess.

That's the plasticizer breaking down. Commonly happens to "rubber" feet on old computer equipment as well.

It happened to my &@#%$ black and decker food processor that was only two years old. One week it was fine, the next, the grey rubber feet were smeared across everything in the cupboard.
I’m sure these were great for the playfield..
There were supposed to be 6. I’m half expecting to find one rusted to an assembly that I just haven’t noticed yet.

Luckily it seems the layer of grime might have protected the playfield from any real wear. I don’t usually like to novus 2 a playfield, but it really helped bring this one back to being in good shape.

I think a few of those are bingo balls.

These people flipping over pinball machines are ruining the hobby.

Fuck
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how they did this.
the machine is sitting on its head and the head isn't even strapped down.

There are all kinds of horror stories on the free play floor at expo . Alot of those games are barely playable.
Quoted from Bam_Man:a tricked out EHOH and they dump it over before it even hits the truck...
Where were they going with an unwrapped, powdercoated EHoH with the legs on anyway?

Operator 101:
“I’ve got some of those dang ‘ol ping balls somewhere...”
*pulls out some pitted, rusted junk*
“yep, these will work fine!”
Quoted from ThatOneDude:Always store your machine on the deck.

They shoulda left the glass on... depressing!
Probably a ton rare and useful parts!!!
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:Interesting operator solution to a broken ramp
That one looks like one of those video game photo puzzles where you look for as many boo boos you can find before time runs out.

If I posted the entire playfield it would be even worse. However it’s a lot of fun and it earns well enough so it’s on route until I get around to restoring it!

the white decals on the projector screen, drops and ramps are all nasty and dirty. i believe this is an LE on location, and it just makes my heart ache to see this.

I thought it was mold.
Quoted from zaza:Someone tried to repair a WPC95 CPU-board and used a Dremel to remove the old ICs and then used a 300W solder iron to remove the remains of the traces and solder pads. Then placed sockets on it, making multiple shorts.
as you can imagine, the CPU didn't boot.[quoted image]
Ya know, Dremel can be quite an effective way to remove chips.. if you have a steady hand and know to cut high into the chip package instead of murdering the board with it.

Back in my early board repair days, I tried the dremel method. Once and only once. Way easier to cut the chips out. For the board I dremeled, it never worked again after that. 20 years ago, mind you. Now.....I have a much higher success rate for board work. Would go as far as to say I really enjoy the board work aspect of pinball...
Quoted from someotherguy:Ya know, Dremel can be quite an effective way to remove chips
If someone insists on cutting off the chip rather than desoldering, a nipper tool is a much better option.
