Got this yesterday, outside of the ramp flaps and the battlefield armature not rusty. The cab is falling apart, it could be fixed but might just find an empty wpc cab to redo.
Did come with everything, few things not in the pictures are still in my truck.

In case you are interested, Menards sells hobby sheets of wood veneer in varying thicknesses. At least the Menards where I shop does.

I’m assuming you got a good deal on this?

Paid 3500, kidding

I traded a damaged superkixx and some cash. Im comfortable where i am in this. I could part m it out if i wanted and make money, but this is worth saving.

" but this is worth saving."

Boom. Just my kind of project. Complete, but two steps from the dumpster. Have fun with it!

So for funsies I powered it up last night. I don't have the speakers connected so I didn't test sound, but game goes into attract mode. DMD took a minute to come on. Has a single line out at the bottom, guessing broken lead on the glass. Coins up and does the ball search. So really aside from the bad cabinet this is just a shop job away from playing. Sad thing is its probably going to sit for a good year before I get to it.

Now that's a result!!! Bet you couldn't believe your eyes!!

I was just going through some reference photos. This was a location AFM that I serviced a while back. It's been there for 20+ years, and spent most of that time next to a window. This is probably by far the most faded AFM cab that I've ever seen.

Thank you for saving it! The Shadow deserves it!
Too many people parting out totally worthwhile games that just need serious TLC but otherwise they work.
Reminds me of the City Slicker I nabbed from ForceFlow a while back.
Thing fell off a truck of some sort and was in pieces. I plugged it all in and sure as shit it went into attracted mode and I was able to “play” it! Just the leaves and severely rotted rubbers kept getting in the way.

I’m actually almost done with that. It sat for way, way, WAY too long to be scanned, an outside party is apparently working on a VP table and needed scans of the playfield so I figured I’d help them out.

It’s like a 1930s pinball except you play the cabinet.

Is this why everyone is out of stock on mini metal posts?

Is this something you picked up? Looks interesting... tried to look at good images of the project by following the link you posted, but couldn't find anything except some very blurry images!

It happens.

I saw an EK homie sell on eBay for $2200.00. Someone got a surprise.

That's the anti-nudge feature on the Centaur.

#2773 3 years ago

It seems like a good idea until you need to move that Centaur. I suspect shrink wrapping it may also be difficult.

#2774 3 years ago

I can't believe I forgot to post my pics here.

Not a great pic of the inside, but if you zoom you can see the rust.

Makes me wonder how big the mouse nest was when they pulled it out.

Fortunately, the cab and playfield are beautiful!

What on earth do you mean “cleaned up”?!?!
That implies there’s anything LEFT to clean!!!

He needs a new playfield, and needs to build a new backbox. I am stunned that thing even worked.
It’s only a Gold Wings for crying out loud!

A fricken' Sample game too.

#2783 3 years ago

What happened to that playfield? Like, is it gone, or did someone squirrel it away somewhere?

Certainly worth it for a set of working boards! Is that the original topper? I can see how the PF would clean up to reveal a totally destroyed PF

The bell has tolled for this Metallica.

Here's the story on this one...

"We all know that our pins belong indoors.....except for this owner
Here’s what happens to a game left outdoors for 6 years, and in one of harshest countries in the world when it comes to extreme heat.
Six. Years. 688 total plays. Game still boots but sadly that’s where it ends for this machine."

#2790 3 years ago

Hell, I could save it.

#2791 3 years ago

At least there's not a rat living in it.

#2792 3 years ago

Mr. Hettfield would definitely have a few choice words!!

#2793 3 years ago

Why, just why?

#2794 3 years ago

This one has reached "The End of the Line"

But seriously, would have expected much worse after 6 years. It's got the rare brown snake mod going for it. Someone could still save it.

#2795 3 years ago

That Metallica is apparently in the United Arad Emirates. Notice the graveyard markers are tombstones instead of crosses.

#2796 3 years ago

With that rusty tilt bob, I like my chances.

First example of playfield fade I have seen.

#2797 3 years ago

Have to say that MET looks pretty good for being outdoors for 6 years.

#2798 3 years ago

Let's see the balls

#2799 3 years ago

The guy who took the pics, David Marsh, was saying he got a call “my pinball needs a service” and when he got there he was floored. It needs a lot more help than that. But if does boot and “play” except it’s got severe water damage and exposure damage

Where is the machine actually at?
