Quoted from cottonm4:Hoarder
Damn straight!
Quoted from dothedoo:Here are a few of those playfields
When did you get those? Do you happen to know what happened to the owner? I can't find anything on the net.
It’s been probably 6 or 7 years. I don’t know what happened to them. I wish now I had been a bigger hoarder. I walked away from A LOT of good stuff there.
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:Sir, this is Pinside, you’re not allowed to use “Stern” and “good” in the same sentence
In all fairness, that cab is pretty sick and I would have absolutely found a good use for it. I’ve fixed worse.
Yes, the shrink wrap was the only think holding it together in the first pic.

Looking back I just noe noticed your grocery cart for work stand. That's pretty cool. How you anchor the box to the cart?

Haha you just noticed my magnificent ghetto-rig?
It provides me the convenience of wheels and the utility of a table... sorta.
These née big plastic carts they make hold the body just fine without any extra mods.

Hey that was my fishtales! The dolly broke...

GAME OVER.

I can make a backglass look fairly nice, that is beyond my skillset. Junk.

Wow, it’s like an impressionist painting. Blackout by Van Goah.

I did it for the challenge, much better looking than when I started.

Oh, I believe you.
I’ve done similar on a couple of EM shooting games where the backglass was missing portions of the art.
Just looking at in from the reverse in retrograde is bizarre.
If you put serious color leds behind it
It will look even better
Had that on a glass before
And could barely tell it was really repainted

I do have a few in there to help blend.

A lot of good parts there. NEVER pass up a parts pin!

Does anyone remember the movie Brazil where Jonathan Price shares a desk with the office next to his, and it passes through the wall?

You bet!! Pulled this out the other day to watch it again. What a classic!
Brazil (resized).jpgQuoted from lordloss:Some lacquer turns yellow with age which is the case here
would be awesome if it continues to easily chip away like that. wonder if this is varathane or other "non yellowing" poly that eventually DOES turn yellow per all the restorers finishing guidelines on here.

"We're all in this together."

Reminds me when I was a kid and my Dad had an antelope mounted in the living room. My friends would come over, and he would always tell them to go look in the garage to see the rest of it (the other side of the wall). Nearly every time they would go look.

Is that a recent pic? I would bring that one back.

I’m kind of surprised the glass did not break.
Quoted from Electronmagic:Is that a recent pic? I would bring that one back.
Barely got hot enough for the plastic to melt, I bet the boards still work

If you look at the backing board and the playfield scoring, that is the rare version of Spacelab with only 2-3 others known to exist. What a real shame. That's like a TKO out in the rain. And it "worked a few months ago"... that's the worst part. Leave it to people to destroy history after it survived just fine for the last few decades.
If somebody ended up grabbing this I would purchase it in the future once COVID-19 is over.
Quoted from Coindork:I’m kind of surprised the glass did not break.
Over the years, we lost multiple pins in location fires. Playfield and back glass would seldom break unless the cabinet was burned to the point the structure failed and stressed the cabinet, breaking the glass.
Last year, we had a location with approx 12 pieces where a kitchen fire occurred. All but one piece was trashed (TouchTunes wall box-all plastic-that melted) and we were able to clean and repair any damages where we could reuse or sell the equipment.
