Not quite a horror story, but a very worn Mata Hari. I told the guy, if it was in sorry shape but it was working, it would be worth something to me, or if it wasn't working but was in good shape, it would be worth something to me, but as-is I wasn't interested. He told me it was being thrown out if I didn't take it.

Amazingly, there are no broken plastics, and the backglass has a couple of small scratches but no peeling. MPU is super corroded. Coindoor looks like someone took a pry bar to it. I was going to part it out, but now I'm thinking I'll throw an Alltek in there, clean and touch up the pf as best I can, and see if I can get it playable.

Quoted from jibmums:

It will be alot of work but totally worth it. You'll have to bulletproof everything according to vid's guide, repin the connectors on the MPU at a minimum. Start a thread showing us your progress!

Put in a Weebly, not an Alltak.

She cleaned up just fine and I took care of that white paint. The rodent was a clean guest and only stayed long enough to birth some offspring. The afterbirth was a joy to clean blech

Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

Picked up a Pleasure Isle out of the cellar of a dairy farm in WI yesterday. The wife claimed she bought it in 1965, which would make it HUO. After it quit working, they stuck it in the cellar where the mice made a home.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Found this on Craigslist labeled as a "Virtual pinball"
Wood rail with a TV and a 60-in-1 Chinese arcade board in there.
Pac man controls on the front, Tron overlay as a lockdown bar for some reason, WOOF

That is, indeed, a horror show.

LOL, I would totally take that to a show just to fuck with people.

Did the still have the original parts they ripped out or did they trash them. That is truly awful.

I'd be in if you were raising money to arrange a beating on whoever did that.

Lol that’s virtual alright
Haha wow
That’s hilarious

And a wood rail of all things

Edited
I’m still cracking up over this thing
A tron overlay
A Pac-Man control panel
And the cherry on top
A flat screen in a wood rail

If someone took that too a show I would have to buy it and sledgehammer it for the main event.

I’m the guy who tossed it. It stunk like mouse urine and was peeling all over. Didn’t know glass could stink that bad...

Did you remove & check all of the fuses? Seems like it could be a blown fuse.

Note: I got to repair the other , "non add-a-ball", version of this game and the top bottom
----- middle "mini T bumper" was missing... there was no playfield marks or
----- anything to suggest that a post was there rather that it was an option.
----- What I found out while playing the game, is that the ball can now easily traverse
----- between the top two pop bumpers. The ball can go left to right and right to left sides of the
----- playfield. It was much more funner to play. I think it might be Gottliebs way of making
----- the game more conservative/liberal to each version of the game.
Congratulation, on a neat Gottlieb game.

Wen't and looked at a Knockout about a month ago I think it was and besides have numerous cosmetic issues, one of the worst things was that someone screwed a metal plate to the top of the playfield because water had gotten into the top of the backbox and ran down into the playfield and rotted it out and ruining the backglass. So the only way it probably could be made playable was to cover it up so that the ball didn't get trapped. This one needed way to much time and money to bring it back what with the painted cabinet, poorly reproduced backglass and a string of other things. I reluctantly made an offer and was cringing because I thought the guy might actually take it and I was relieved when he said no because I thought I was being over generous as it was. I'm glad I didn't get it.

Still on location ruining people's impression of pinball.

Flipper Rubbers are optional anyways

That happened to me with a beautiful glass from an Ice Cold Beer.
Made the mistake of bringing it in from the garage on an Arizona summer day that was in the teens.
As soon as I went from the the garage which is not air conditioned to the house which is, the change in temperature made it explode in my hands. Didn’t even touch it to anything. Just a quick drop of 35+ degrees did it in.

Quoted from mappy_mouse:

A friend is an operator and has been for 30 years, at least. On one recent Friday night auction, I helped him carry a couple of his purchases out to his pickup. Laying in the truck bed was a populated Pinbot play field that was in pretty good shape. I told him he could sell that for some money. He did not pay attention.

And he recently told me that in the late 90s that he bought a Stern Meteor at a pin auction for $5.00. And then he stripped the pin. He told me that Alltek came out with its MPU in 2002, but before that there were no options if aboard went bad. A bad board was instant death to a pin. It could not be fixed and rental space was not cheap so pins like this Meteor were instant parts machines.

Saw a TSPP on location like that. No rubber on the flippers, Dirty playfield, Broken DMD, broken everything. Those operators must be crazy or just stupid. Probably Both.

True... I have spent many hours trying to get Bally/Stern CPU boards up and running.
So a game could be saved.

I knew the owner of Gameroom Warehouse in Wichita back in the day. I went upstairs one time, and it was rows of playfields. I wish I had had the space to buy some of them.

That’s not funny. I use novus 3 in the tumbler and it works great. Also really good at getting the grime off ball guides.

At an operator's place.
Going to the trash soon I guess.
