Quoted from cottonm4:

How is it any different than a bunch of populated play fields leaning against the wall in an operator's shop? At least the play field is still alive and being preserved. I have a pin that I would love to find a play field preserved like that to put in one of my pins.
It is a table because it quit working and making money for the operator. Prices were cheaper in the past like "this is junk" cheaper. There were no repro circuit boards. A coffee table saved it from the landfill or a leaky roof warehouse with mouse population making nests everywhere.
If it was leaning against a wall would that make you feel better?

Stolen from herbertbsharp off his Facebook.
Original Caption:
“Of all the beautiful things I've seen in Paris, today's find will have me waking up in the middle of the night screaming, for years to come.”[quoted image]

And 2 lock down bars used on this , and we all know how hard these are to find

Let the spider have the quarter!

Did he escape from the Scared stiff translite?

#2108 4 years ago

Just for you.

I am happy to just watch a movie of someone else doing this.

Well on the topic of arachnids, saw this beauty while mowing. Harmless wolf spider, still makes one take notice!
I had to add my hand for scale reference as in the first image her size was very deceiving.

Right now, the tarantulas are getting frisky in this area(SF Bay area near Mt Diablo). I think it would be cool to find one of them in a game

Pinball Horror Pic describes that perfectly.

Found a Black Knight 2000 for sale with some board issues[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

I bought it

It was a very nice guy, he was honest in his description and just wasn't a pinhead or techy so didn't know what was needed to repair. The MPU is trash, I already have a replacement. Eventhough its rusty in the head, it doesn't have waterdamage. I'm happy with it

Well it was definitely a nice project at the right price, the playfield looked OK from what I could tell. I think the rust on that backboard may be caused by -what looks like- a very leaky battery.

I thought so too. But it's weird. There is rust on a few spots and none on others. Like on this power driver board:

I know it is said everything is bigger in Texas, that ain't true! That thing is a beauty.
By strange coincidence upon coming home last night found this one next to the front door. I believe it to be from the orb weaver family based on the web it inhabited.

Another one left outside for Mother Nature to attack. And $775?

Maybe at least pull the leaves off the backglass before you take the pictures.

$50 parts machine, sad.

Learn from my folly... Pay real close attention when you're replacing GI wiring and connectors on Williams games, especially when changing between the two and four wire variations. I fucked up and accidentally shorted the transformer output in my Road Kings. About gave me a heart attack when smoke started billowing out of the cabinet.

Amazingly it was all working during and after the event (once the problem connection was corrected). I got lucky and it only really burned the wiring up to the first connector off the transformer. Could have been much worse if I'd left it powered up even a little bit longer. I'm going to replace the burnt wire run and repin everything in the circuit, and count myself lucky I don't have to replace that hard to find transformer or any boards, or deal with the aftermath of a fire.

I was looking for another photo and ran across this one. Figured it should make it into the horror thread if it hadn't already.

No, that's an "absolute unit" or a rubber.

I think I’ve got you beat. With some Evaporust, followed by CLR and a whole lot of sanding it looks as good as new now. Oddly enough there is no rust on the inside of the door or anywhere else on the machine. I think they painted the front of the cabinet red to match the rust.

Seeing the rusty neck in the background just makes this a bummer, are you gonna salvage this?

#2147 4 years ago

I’m going to try. I will take this to my cabinet guy to see if he can replace the back section. The rest looks solid. My biggest regret is missing the BOGO on evaporust a few weeks ago. Gonna need it bad.

I’m very curious to try evaporust in my new ultrasonic cleaner. The instructions say you can. I forgot all about it unfortunately when I did the door.
