Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:

I wish I had this kind of blind confidence to ask money for literal, complete garbage. Boy, how do they do it?

It’s easy. It’s Craigslist. All you need is a cell phone to take some pics. Then use your phone to make a CL ad or upload the pics to your computer and make a CL ad. You can have an ad up and running in less than 10 minutes.

The ad is free and stays up for 45 days. At 45 days you can renew the ad for free for another 45 days. And you can do this for eternity.

Nobody knows who you are. Nobody knows where you live.

You just posted several pics trying to sell a piece of crap. It it sells for $50.00 then great. Maybe someone will offer $10.00 for the apron.

For you, the seller, other than the time it took you to place the ad, it is a no lose situation.

If it does not sell, then no big deal. Anything else is gravy.

Here’s a bad combination: termites and battery rot..needless to say, this one is far too gone for a restoration. The termites even got into the playfield.

Interesting to such damage from battery leakage. How long would that have to sit to get so far? I picture of the old film where S.King brings home the meteorite.

Based on the batteries I found in the bottom of the cabinet, I’d say about 8 to 10 years.

Downvote just means I dont agree.

It's not personal just dont agree that's the way the game should be done. Dont like any color in gi.
Plus it didnt come from factory with color gi so I doubt that's the way "it should be done"

Anytime anyone posts a pic with color gi and says it looks good I downvote it cause I dont agree.

You do know you can turn the up/down vote system off so you cant see them.

I gotcha. I don’t need to turn off the voting system, and I know you don’t like colored GI from the other thread. Everybody is entitled to an opinion. Thanks for the input.

Get your point, but don't you think that downvoting anyone that does not share pour POV is kind of extreme?

You have the right to dislike it, just like some have the right to like rainbow pukes.

Keep in mind also that these techs were not available back in the time.
Don't you think that if they did not want any color they would have made the plastics another way so that the bulb light is not changed by the color of the plastic? They had no choice so they did not give a thought about this back then.

Nope

If getting a downvote is extreme your gonna have a tough life.

AC/DC and Stern Star Wars have color changing GI from the factory. It still looks like crap.

You guys are making it real tough for me not to engage.

But honestly, give me a break. I had two blue bulbs under the ball return plastics, and one blue LED strip mounted under the backbox. The rest is cool white. His game is “puked” and you can’t even see the art, mine was not.

I guess the color display on mine was disgusting as well.

Your machine looks great. And on top of that it is your machine so it doesn’t matter what others think really. My opinion is that incandescent bulbs cast a yellow smoke stained look across the entire machine and that any machine without LED bulbs is a project that must be remedied. I’ll catch a downvote for that statement I’m sure but... oh well. To each their own. Manufacturers would have always used LED bulbs had they had the tech. Yes always. Even on EM machines. They are cheap, last for a much greater time, generate more light, less heat, and use less energy. I don’t like a ton of color GI. I rarely ever use a colored bulb on top of a playfield. But some in certain places is not a crime by any means.

I kinda disagree. Down vote is more a “your a dbag” vote. Not simply because I don’t like your LEDs. But hey, I don’t make the rules. So to each their own.

I don't know what happened between thosr 2 pics, but that bottom pic is beautiful !!

With LEDs, I have noticed that they don't photograph well. I have some blue LEDs in my Robocop. They look nice in person, but in photographs, they look ugly as sin.

That is actually a really good point. I think the reason it works so well is because it was designed to be that way from the beginning. The artwork on the plastics is largely just gray and industrial, which complements the lighting well. It does work really well on that game. You're right.

Let’s all just get along.

I use nothing but LED in my EM's, got tired of replacing Asian manufactured incandescent bulbs every few weeks.

Runs cooler, lasts longer and works great I'm all for it.

Yeah, I was iffy to use cool white in an EM game. But when I tried warm or sunlight LED’s the game started screaming and turning to ash.

Can't speak for anybody else, but for a dark blue play field I find I like the natural white or cool whites for GI lighting (Laser Cue, Dragonfist). For a green play field( Big Game) warm whites look the best to me for GI lights. All IMO.

Wouldn't be pinside without another pointless LED argument...

Allow me to put us back on track here. Here's some shots from a recent warehouse raid in Wisconsin, there was a hole in the roof that had eaten through a couple of the floors. The building also got hit by lightning last year and was partially on fire. Lots of games covered in filth, bird shit, and some we're getting leaked on. Tons of boxes of EM parts. I can only imagine how hot and humid it must get in the summer.

Did they save everything? Looks like a shitton of pins, great pics though, those warehouses of imprisoned pins still exist! It’s our job to save them :b

I spent tons of time over two days picking through it. The dirt and likely mold got to me after a few hours. There was lots of walls exposed to outside with water coming in. All of the pins were rescued. I sifted through all of the parts and found a few gems but the warehouse was very picked over.

The guy brokering the sales said some guys that own a barcade in MN took over 50 cabaret arcades, a Hercules pin, and over 100 other arcades. I saw empty TSPP boxes, tons of boards and displays for classic Bally pins, tons of jukebox parts, a few weirdo EM arcade games. Very cool experience, but very sad I missed the cream of the crop.

One of those monitors in the pile is a WG6100 color Vector (Tempest, Space Duel, etc.) Well, the frame and busted CRT, anyway. I had several of those, with good CRTs, and trashed them during a move 20 years ago. Dumb move.

As someone who isn't that experienced with pinball repair, I find this thread very informative. I've been following it since I joined Pinside and enjoy all the pics.

I enjoy when someone just posts's a pic without explaining "the horror." Forces me to look for the problem myself. (Unless it's an obvious horror picture like rat crap or termite damage, fire, etc)

Anyways just want to say thanks....keep up the horror pics!!

Hello, have read through this post and found it an interesting read. Thought I would share some past pictures I took back in and around 2008. This was at an operators storage/work area (Seattle: Kent Washington) and most of it was filled with dead/non-working pinball machines. Some of them (or most of them compared to others seen of this post) I would think would be very easy to bring back to working condition as a few just looked like they had there heads down on the playfields.

Yes, that is three TAF in different states of parts robbed from them in the pictures. I was told that the outside salesman would come into the warehouse and rob parts off working machines to repair ones in the field. I did buy a few machines from them and also did try to buy a lot purchase from them for some of these machines, but was unsuccessful. I did follow up a few years ago and they had since moved to a new location and has since moved completely out of operating pinball machines. (These machine are long gone! Sorry) Hope you enjoy these pictures!

Maybe not quite as horrific as some of these, but still a bummer. I went to a barcade today that I don't think has ever cleaned their games, I did let them know they should really give the games some love since they had a killer lineup...
