Looks like just a game someone started robbing for a few parts and left the playfield glass off. Blow a few pounds of dust out of it, replace some parts, might be a decent machine..

I picked up a BK2K in similar condition once. The pinside faithful told me it wasnt worth more than $100 lol. It ended up making a nice machine. I believe I got around $2000 out of it three or four years ago. I’d take a flyer on that one for sure. Finding the glass is the hard part.

I looks alot more like a game that went through a flood up over the PF to me...

That was my take. It even looks like there is some moisture damage on the light panel in the backbox (swelling around lamp sockets on lower half).
I’d still take it just in case it could be saved. Although as jmount said, not an easy glass to find. Just ask this guy that had his backglass-less game at Pinfest.

Y'all sure can see a lot in a blurry pic. 
Look closer and you'd have to imagine if it was a flood victim, the water stopped just below the backbox, as there's not a layer of silt inside it. But we're all just guessing anyway, until the actual story comes out.

A local operator closed up shop and auctioned off all of his pins and 40 years worth of pin trash. I bought 3 play fields. I punched out all of the inserts and finished stripping them down today.

Good for you, always lots of decent usable parts to be found in such playfields - no matter how bad they look.

WTF? I might expect to see that on an older board, but a Rottendog? I know sometimes they use cheapy fuse clips that I’ve had to replace right out of the box because they snap, but I’ve never seen one blown out like that.

I actually think that's a relay.. And I can't tell if the relay shorted and fried, or the transistor under it did. Honestly, this may not be a fault of RD, but whomever had the game first, miswiring something.

To me, it looks like both happened. One transistor is cooked pretty good, and the edges of the relay housing are melted outward, rather than inward.
Yeah, I imagine there was a problem with the game it was in. A lot of times, people just throw an aftermarket board in a game blindly without properly checking for problems first thinking that it will be a magic fix for everything.

That's actually something I really enjoy seeing. When I see a playfield worn down THAT much but still being maintained from a functional standpoint, you know that game brought a lot of joy to a lot of people, and still continues to this day. I love it.
I went to the Phoenix show a couple years ago and there was a Taxi with a completely paintless playfield. Smoothest game I ever played.

Wow.....last time I played that Black Knight in Funspot was in 2014, and the playfield was already pretty shot.....it looks SO much worse now.

Found this in a box of boards I grabbed. Some more fabulous board artistry...
“You don’t have to remove a cap and replace it...you can solder a new one right next to it bro!”
“And screw resistors...let’s just tap some transistors in...um....here and here.”

That board looks familiar to me. The two TO-220 case parts belong where they are. The board mounts to a plate that acts as a heat sink.

What are you talking about dude? This board did not leave the factory like that. And I’m assuming the game worked perfectly fine when it was sold NIB.
And I’m sure you believe that jumper wire from the transistor to the back of the board is how it’s supposed to be as well.

the transistors were hung like that. The jumper was added. The board is a mess, but the transistors are not part of the issue.

Either way, this PSB did not leave the factory with those transistors in place. They were added, so it’s a hack, “improvised repair” or modification.
And your comments that I “don’t know how it’s supposed to be” and “I’ll yell it’s wrong so I look smart” are condescending and unnecessary.
I have my collection history listed here, at least a good portion of games I’ve owned, unlike you. Take a look. I have owned over 10 System 1 games and have repaired several others, and I have never seen this on a power supply in one of them. So in my experience, my comments were appropriate.
No need to be derogatory towards other members in this thread. Keep that crap in the clown puke thread where all the other curmudgeons hang out.
You’ve agreed the board is a mess, and that is the purpose of this thread.
