...and this one is the reason why people need to post shooter lanes in the For Sale ads

This TAF just showed up on a Pinball for sale thread on Facebook:

"Adam's family
Seller states. Ball won't kick up, tried to do a repair and think a fuse went bad, used aluminum tape on the ball track and that worked for a while then it burned up. Can be seen in photos. Playfield rubbers etc very poorly kept. No further testing was done. Also, power switch has been disabled/removed from bottom of machine."

Aluminum tape? Did it catch fire? Conduct and turn into a heating element? W.T.F.

That is a total shame, especially on a TAF. Horrible.

But the GI lighting is good.

At least on the left half where it is still working (I think I know what shorted)

So, how rediculous is the asking price??

Get me a bottle of Novus (or 30), and my tool box! (and some wood for a new cab, a repro PF, some new ramps, a ton of coils, some mechs, some wire, a coin door, new boards, Molex connectors, new legs, a repro plastic set, etc..........)

Speaker panel and apron look salvageable.

The playfield looks good, though. Put it in a new cab, and you could have a decent WW on your hands.

Considering the bonkers prices they fetch now, it's kind of a no brainer to do that, rather than part out the playfield.

#1262 8 months ago

On second glance, the ramps look pretty salvageable too...might clean up nice. Wireform could be saved or powdercoated. Still an absolute mess the way it sits now, and a damn shame.

Jeez....I mean I sorta understand 30 years ago or so before the home market boomed that operators would, once a machine wasn't making anymore money, throw that machine out, but for the last 20 years or so (basically the start of ebay) there has been a strong secondary market for selling used pins. You would think that this Whitewater would have fell into that category and would have been sold. This is just throwing money away.....

Then again, you see the same thing in cars/motorcycles/ etc. where someone would rather have it rot away then sell it while it's still worth something. I never understood that kind of thinking.

I just saw on one of the facebook groups that someone put a R911 on the street to throw away, and someone else rescued it before the garbage truck came for it.

This WW I found on eBay years ago, for some reason I kept the pics, but if I recall correctly, it went for $860

It looks like the Monte Carlo has some playfield wear...I'll take a ride to save both games if they're free and still sitting there. Cab looks pretty nice on the Royal Flush.

I'd only have to tresspass for 20 minutes to get them both loaded.

#1271 7 months ago

Yeah, I was actually surprised at how good they looked considering they've been sitting there neglected for 25 years.

#1272 7 months ago
Quoted from gdonovan:

I stripped the front of the cabinet too and that ended up in the pile with the rest, a moment of silence for this Royal Guard as its watch has ended.

He died so that others can live.
The organ transplant of the lightboard into my Royal Guard was successful. Thanks again Gary for taking the time to package this up & send it my way.

Flood victim that was given to me with no head. Cabinet warped and splitting, not worth saving.

Last Action Hero. The last action here was a mouse chewing on some nuts. Thank God he brought his own things to chew one instead of gnawing the play field plastics or chewing the wires. Other than the nuts, Pinball Machine was in fantastic condition.

I agree. I think it would have looked lot better if they had just added a little more red to the color scheme.

Just picked up this fine example, they don't often show up around this part of the world. The guy has had the game for 15 years and that's the last time any work had been done. It broke down and he has left it outside in the Western Australian weather. I'm glad CPR are around reproducing parts as I'm going to give this a new lease on life. Don't leave machines outside!!!!

That pin is upside down. Not positive of which pin it was, but it has yellow score reels, (for a single player). So that is early to mid 1960's. It is in a wrecking yard in N.C.

Here is a really sad one. A local friends garage caught fire. Had 6 pins in it. 4 got smoke and water damage 2 are completely destroyed.
