    Quoted from starfighter:

That's OK by 2014 I plan on selling my Dolly Parton for 9K anyway.

Hey wait.....that will be a 10k pin by Christmas 2013.

    Quoted from Shapeshifter:

    Interesting timing and pretty shrewd.
Just before Avengers comes out, a pre-order scheme for the Hobbit. This will take money out of Stern's pockets for sure.
I cannot buy both for example and more likely to go Hobbit and pass on Avengers. Not sure why Stern have been so quiet on the Avengers info??

I think the timing could actually hurt JJP. If Stern has everything lined up properly for the Avengers and it is available in weeks not years, I know I am buying one. I was waiting to hear about the second game and the Hobbit would look good next to my LOTR, but I am not thrilled about having to prepay and then wait until the release. I would rather have a game now. If the Hobbit impresses I will wait until the regular version is released.

While I do support JJP and appreciate what he is trying to do, I don't like how he is building the company through interest free loans from his buyers. Once he has the first game out, a track record, and a valid business plan he should be able to source funding. I work too hard for my money and the opportunity to buy NIB is a rare treat. I will wait until I can see it before buying.

    Quoted from jamespin:

I will purchase #2LE to go with my WOZLE. The biggest disappointment I have with JJP is that when I purchased the WOZ the end of January 2011 my incentive was two fold. Take a risk in us and you will get a savings but even more for me was getting a special LE that would have special differences from the STD. Well, after it all shakes out I fear my LE will have green trim and a nice plaque. I am not sure I would have tied up my money to save $500 as the STD could be bought with the shaker from a distributer for 7k. I don't know why everyone is so hung up on the LE WOZ as it is neither limited or special as it lost its exclusive backglass and topper.

    Hello fellow Pinsider
I saw your hometown and just had to ask is the Rowe jukebox plant still there and being used for anything these days?
Yes many of the things that make the LE special can be purchased in the aftermarket even the green trim but the LCD scren will display something different along with all the other differences mentioned above that push the price on the standard near the LE price. Everyone did save a good amount of money as a 1000 dollars is more than enough to cover shipping and tax if required. People who get in early this time will also save money.

    Quoted from trilogybeer:

Someone posted here a link to a youtube video interview of Jack by Jim Schelberg , In this interview Jack himself says hes going on vacation to Italy and will be shipping games when he returns in July . I think going by the date he stated is a good place to start to determain when most people will start getting their games.

You are talking about the past. Those dates are gone and we have seen a lot of progress since that time. Feel free to keep looking back, I am looking forward. We all know the machine is late, big deal. It is very close. Jack has said 90 days as his most current estimate. I am dumb enough that I am going to take his word on that.

I know the pin was late because it cost me over $500 extra since it is late. I drove up here this past summer and was going to bring my WOZ because it was going to be ready. I ended up bringing a X-men up for LITZ. Shipping here is over $750 and now I get to come up with the extra cash to get it here instead of down in the lower 48. Not happy but still love pinball.

I plan on buying 500 Powerball lottery tickets tomorrow. If I win the jackpot, I will buy a NIB Hobbit to the first pinsider that quotes this post.

Looks Like Mike_J and I will be sipping on champagne tomorrow after 6pm. Mike, I will PM you when we win.

    Quoted from badbilly27:

You nailed it. This is what most are missing. But tip of the hat to Jack.

Change can start by casting a simple pebble in the water causing ripples. This too can still change if enough people speak up. Have installment as an option not mandatory.
Be careful my friend, the recession started because of poor loans in housing and people overextending. Blind trust is a crazy thing. All it takes is one start-up pinball group to take pre-orders and go under and whammy. Again, if Skitb can accomplish their model why not JJP? (See vid post above)
Hey, if you can piss away $7K I have a charity you can donate to.

It's just a pinball game....not a new housing crisis and I'm not "pissing away" anything...

If you win, the champagne is on me. You just name the brand.

    Good Luck!

OK you guys will get one too, but that's it. I mean c'mon it's only 425 million and I can't buy everybody a Hobbit.

OK , my info may not be current , but I'm trying to base my statements here on info that Jack himself has said or has posted on his website . And I really do hope JJP is successfull , But I do think misleading people is not the proper way to success .

    #314 11 years ago

For all the nervous nellies let's assess the real risk here....

I ponied up back in Feb 2011 for Woz based on Jack's history and reputation and a little blind faith and it worked out with at least a great looking quality pin with Keith programming....risky then?

Now we have a pin produced by Jack, a new warehouse, assembly line, stellar innovations and countless other production efficiencies gained....

If Jack was going to fail it would have already happened and the fact that he has announced pin #2 makes it a lock to get produced...more units to spread all those fixed costs amongst and yes people are in line to buy even before #1 comes out....hmmm, why is that? Jack just a great salesman and pinheads really stupid? I think not.....

While its fun to speculate, let's face it, JJP has arrived in a big way and is here to stay as long as anyone is making pins.....

I think Jack is waiting until the software and everything about the game are in excellent finished form. This first game will set the standard by which he will be judged. I am sure he would have liked nothing better than to have the game out back when he thought/said it would be but decided it was better to make people wait and put out an awesome product than put something out "on time" and have it unfinished.

    Quoted from DCfoodfreak:

Please, most pinheads are not spring chickens. Truth is long before LOTR..Star Wars..Cable and decent TV that generation read all the books. The Hobbit many of us talk about is a fragment of the posters and creativity that lived in imaginations for years. He knows of this Hobbit ; )

Thank you Lloyd for the description. Believe it or not everyone, I had no idea what "The Hobbit" was until now. And as far as LOTR goes, I have not a clue what the real theme of the pin nor the movie(s) are about. In fact, the kid on the translight sorta reminds me of Harry Potter. And All I know about Harry Potter is there are a series of books that people wait in long lines for on the day of release. Haven't bought kids meals at Mickey D's in about 10-12 years and I don't do Burger King. I don't watch the Academy Award or Grammy's or Emmy's. I go to maybe three movies a year and maybe watch a handful a year at home.

About 8 or 9 years ago I went to a taping of the Tonight Show in Las Vegas. Pamela Anderson was a guest and, yes, I knew who she was. When another guest came out, the crowd went wild.... I had no clue who he/it was. The women next to me were baffled that I wasn't screaming like the other thousand people in the audience. I asked them was the person the one who plays Harry Potter? They said no, that's Clay Aiken. I said ok, who or what is Clay Aiken. They said don't you watch American Idol? I said no. They were baffled. And no, my wife wasn't with me, she chose the casino floor over the taping of Leno.

About 30 years ago I was at the home of an attorney who was one of the silent partners in the route op business I worked for. He asked me if I ever read The Hobbit. When I said no and that I never heard of it until the moment he mentioned it, he said I should as every kid should have read it. I never did.

    #317 11 years ago

But you heard about it ; )
And your not missing out on the Clay Aiken thing.

There is a Detroit joke in there somewhere.....

I called the Merit (excuse me, the AMI Entertainment) hotline six moths ago with questions about mt EVO Ion Touchscreen. The hotline goes to Grand Rapids, no longer to Bensalem, PA. I asked are they close to tyhe Jukebox factory, the guy said right next door. I swore he said they still make them there. I may be wrong though.

The problem I see is that Jack will charge LE price for the standard model when the time comes. Mark my words, peeps.

. . . And THAT is the best thing about the LE product . . .

    #321 11 years ago

I would be more interested if it was a different designer, I'm in for a regular woz but I have my doubts about Balancer for two pins in a row. One will probably be good.

Yes, we did save money, but it wasn't what we were sold either.

We are all gamblers... you can't play pinball without some interest in gambling. But we disagree on what / how much to gamble. I gambled already on Nemo and Predator. No money left for JJP#2 but would probably have jumped in otherwise. Will have to wait for a regular Hobbit in 2015.

Great times. Too many opportunities. Some may fail; I doubt JJP will (but well, I kind of prefer the paiement schedule for Nemo and Predator!)

PinballSTAR Amusements is taking pre-orders for The Hobbit LE Pinball. $ 500 down payment via Paypal to [email protected] needed to secure your spot.

We also mentioned earlier that we will consider anyone who is interested in trading thier WOZ LE spot for a Hobbit LE spot.. I still have customers looking for a WOZ LE - just thinking if anyone likes the Hobbit theme better and can only do one or afford to pay for one - it's a way for them to trade !

Additionally, our company is donating a portion of all sales to go towards a fund that will be used for the purchase of a WOZ to donate to a Children's Hospital. It's just a great theme and a perfect match for this project. We'd love to meet our goal as soon as possible !

Listen for our interview segment 'PinballSTAR of the Month' monthly on the Spooky Pinball Podcast where we talk to great people in the pinball hobby and as always with the quirky, funny, and entertaining Spooky Pinball twist added by Charlie and KT ! We just recorded our segment for December tonight with our guest John Popadiuk - he was a riot - had alot of funny stories from back in the Bally days - please take listen on 12/1 !

Maybe if Dennis Nordman designed it.

How do we know Dennis did not already design a pin and Jack did not already buy that design? It is possible.
