    Quoted from toyotaboy:

Looks like banks charge between 5-35% on unsecured loans (don't know if owning a 2 million dollar building as collateral makes any difference on that rate), but yea:
    million dollars:
5% over 15 years (but paid off before that date) is $7,900 per month
35% over 15 years is 29.3k per month
From what I've seen on tax filings for PHOF, Tim grosses between $500k-million per year.. So he's still going to be cash positive, but that's still money out the window to pay interest.

i'm guessing that TA personally is the 'bank' here and he's taking home going rate for a loan to the LVPCC for the year. Its not likely that a bank is going to loan a bunch of pirates any money, regardless of the amount let alone the location. So if TA is loaning the LVPCC the money for the bridge good for him, good for pinball, and good that he personally takes his money at risk (whatever that may be, the interest rate likely should reflect this risk) and get some return on it. Whatever the process, its great freaking news that LVPCC has not only paid off the land, the building, bought new land, will use that land for leverage in paying off part or all of the new place, and has finally asked for others to step up and do their part in the pinball community via a funraiser that isn't douche bag 'schtickfarter' or 'end-a-goo-goo'. Indie to the end, TA and posse of fart pirates (hippy, latisha, ugly mike, pirate john, sal the exterminator, patrick, and many more dismembered folks) need some help, and they asked for it. That is all that I need to hear, 500-1000 anyone. Matching donations going on?

    #89 5 years ago

There is always plenty of need to sweep floors, polish knobs, and clean PF glass, as well as walk around and make sure douche bag kids are not on all fours under pins or scooping quarters from the games. In other words, working on games is kinda an earned thing, must have skills, have some cred, and get to know the head goon that runs the goonie freak show in search of the pirate.

    #110 5 years ago

30-35%? That is pulled out of guestimate's hat.

NFVG was to be the lettering, but those days of fun and jokes aside are gone with the addition years ago of videos for today's market. Painters during the early AM in off season (not summer) is an easy job on the roofs, its nice and cool in the desert in the mornings. Paint tech has come a long long way for keeping the desert sun from doing its job.

Pink Elephant would be neat, yet would get some folks driving up asking for the car wash or laundry mat. Pete's is so far back as a memory to TA, I would be surprised to see him pay any homage to it other than a mention in an article or two.

LOL about the kids being dropped off, somehow I don't see that changing, read the online reviews about kids and this place. I do believe you were joking, but still could happen? The baby sitting corner in the PHoF incarnation #3, with dunce caps, stools and kids facing the corner repeating the required mantra 'never again, never again'...

I'm confident the 'clout' that TA and company have with Clark County and its past and current commissioners, along with the status that he has with non profit and donating to charity is all that he needs, along with the proof of the puddin' where millions have been donated (where the casinos have done nearly nothing of the same proportions to earnings over the decade of operation for PHoF) and documented is enough. I don't see casinos getting anything but VERY BAD press if they chase the competition tiger's tale around the charity tree in Vegas.

I'll bet Clark County and the town of LV are just a heartbeat away from contemplating re/naming a BLVD or a school in honor, as they should. Look up Union Cab sometime, and then visit that shrine in Alamo the lovely wife set up in honor to Mr. Frias. TA/CA so do deserve the same kind of 'recognition' at least in the naming of something after them. Contribution is King, and these folks have done plenty of it. Yet then so do so many that never seek or deal with the Press about it.

    #118 5 years ago

The goal of the PHoF has never been to appease to the youth of America. In fact, not a single kid under 18 is allowed in without adult supervision, and that is the crux of the problem with kids there. The staff absolutely don't like kids, it is well documented and admitted to by the core volunteer/s and management. That is not likely going to change since the mission of the PHoF has nothing stated in it about expanding gaming and pinball to youth, or saving it from obscurity. TA has said, when its all over, he drops dead, the sign will change to Pinball Sale, and his personal collection (most of the games there) will be sold and the place shuttered. Apparently TA feels he has some 'game' left him, and 65 may not be the deadline we all heard and believed to be the limit. He's just shy of that age. Hiring staff would be a dent in the donations, and against the long established policy of 'contribution is king'. The guys in the Vegas Area for the most part aren't up to snuff on the games, and they would want to be paid to repair. So, it will still be the TA show, the Fun Night that went viral, and donations to make it happen will be needed. I wouldn't gamble on that TA at nearly senility age is going to flip over and change his ways, and why would he do it when its worked so well (raised millions, literally nearly 5+ million in coin) over the years. The proof is in the poodin' kids, TA and the band of pirates have always donated their time, done it for the right (or wrong by some standards) reasons, and given it all away or promised to do so when it all wraps up. They don't want to be known as the next "Liberace Museum Bandits" and bilk the funds down to nothing and pocket it all.

I'm not sure Rex Morgan as a comic strip is supposed to be at all funny. Its a long running soap opera serial, and thus apropos.

Never heard wedgeheads make Bzzzzz or Klonk sounds. But on the old ones with bells, a lot of ding ding dings for sure. The titles the old man is around are with chime bars, so not so much on the ding ding ding sounds.

The real question is what title from the wedgehead aisle is the old fart with broken parts playing?

Many of the EMs do NOT have soldered in LEDs. Saying otherwise is ill-informed, inaccurate and misleading.

The LEDs were put in to reduce and potentially eliminate the need to have volunteers or TA swap out incandescent bulbs which at one time became overwhelming. The focus to be put on the PF condition, and the operation of the game. Another driving force is TAs need to screw over the establishment, particularly the electric company. He hates them.

When swapped out, many of the old GE bulbs (44s and 47s) were kept around, for use, retro fits, cheap installs on flip/spit and shine games, etc. The cycle of initial LEDs installation was by standards... painfully long taking more than a year. The initial LEDs as I recall didn't even have plastic dome covers, then bright white, then soft white. So there are various types still in games, and likely will stay that way. The bright look was considered by TA to make the EMs more relevant as well, and folks 'would just get used to it'.

Most visitors are not pinheads, nor collectors, or pretend-apin-aficionados. Most don't even know the difference, yet they do notice the BGs as being bright, attractive, and easy to look at which drives most to play a game or two. The games are no longer dark and dated looking, except a few as 'reference'.

    #143 5 years ago

Rotation of the GTB aisle has not been significant, and I've seen them all, bayonette only in most. The number of soldered LEDs into heads is minimal for GI on the EMs. By %, there are few soldered. There are not many.

    Quoted from Mike_J:

    Exactly.
Should you disagree with his methods and it really bothers you, don't donate or visit the museum.

Or better yet, start your own 'museum' arcade like so many others have done and tried, and see how it actually goes for ya. Get back to us in 2-3 years when you have either failed to live up to the standards you set, or fail and go out of 'business', or succeed. I'm hedging there is a no-start-at-all in the armchair online pinball charity people.

As TA of PHoF has said for decades now... 'own the building'. They didn't for the first 3-4 years at 3300 and it screwed things up, 1/2 of the coin box went to a douche bag owner. Rent and you will go under, you are working for someone else. TA has done it right, and others have modeled their success story (some very late in their charity careers), and others have simply not listened and failed and vanished (Silverman comes to mind). Do as TA has done, and you will have success. Don't do it, and you likely will fail. To criticize the guy for all that he has done, been through, and taught those that would listen is silly stupid and ignorant. Yet, no surprise, pinball is full of fucking ignoramuses.

Thread should be closed, it was an announcement, that now has turned into something much much different and wrong.

    #205 5 years ago

Go and talk to TA about why he's anti social, and see how long you last standing, or even with your face attached to your head. No seriously, go and discuss why his games are 'all such in poor condition' and find out how quick you get the boot and door treatment, is special. Go and talk to TA if you can find him there during 12-6, and wonder why he is not there, because someone like you showed up to spend 15-30 mins of your VACATION while he is working on games, working on a deal to get games, trade games (rarely), sell games (up tick the past 4-5 years), and then ponder why you are talking to your self.

Kids, seriously, these tricks aren't for kids, its for adults doing adult work. Apparently many here simply don't grasp what is involved in conceiving, then rallying folks, executing, repeatedly doing the same over and over and ALWAYS have monetary success. Again, these tricks aren't for kids you silly wabbits. Now go and donate some money, or STFU about how you don't like TA, or the PHoF, or how you 'THINK' that the SA is some scam (compared to what, the Red Cross, Scientology, your own brew of disbeliefs?).

The topic is about a 1 MILLION dollar bridge loan that I'll hedge is a TA personal loan with interest of resonable amounts to the VPCC and will help them bridge to the new location which is apparently required since he didn't come up with a better plan. If anyone deserves it, talk to his wife about it. She's put up with the likes of hobbyists for 3+ decades now (88 to now), and you never really hear about the crap (literally and figuratively, the mystery scat writer on walls) she has and does put up with... Donate for her if you don't like TA. She's a real charmer as well, no really, seriously. Or go with the new captain fantastic that is head 'volunteer' of s[n]orts.

The PHoF is a real gem show, not much top quality but there are plenty of shit shine items. So if you don't have thick skin, or a better plan, well then go and cut yourself up on a wish and prayer with the toppings of your disbelief system that won't or might by chance work. By chance or plan go out and do it better, and get off the keyboard. Then we'll see you in 2-3 years crying your exit excuses, if you even dare to start something.

    Quoted from jasonp:

    Couple random thoughts.
Maybe people can sponsor a machine which would cover any and all repairs for their particular game they chose?
They could get their name on the sign on the game.

Go in and donate some time, that is more valuable to fixing games and keeping the place going in the long haul. This is a SHORT term bridge loan. I don't suspect there is a level thing going on here other than some wanker schwag that honestly most people don't want. Its hardly a dick tease to give a TS and some vids to folks, but yes it does show some compassion and interest in helping folks. Remember, money needs to flow to PHoF, not some printing process with names.

    Quoted from jasonp:

What about a wall in the Hall of Fame dedicated to the people from past and present that made and make pinball possible? Every year people vote and pay a small fee have a party to help keep money flowing .

There is one there, and its a joke. TA as best as I can recall talks about it as the dead-mans wall of fame. They started inducting folks into it like dogs, cats, and long lost people like Elvira and some broad that was the first female voice (not on his plaque, on the Pasack and Bork Expo stuff at dinners) on a game they got so desperate. I think the grandson Gottlieb is even in that kind of thing now. Its so shark jumped its not silly. Go to 'Expo' if you want that stuff... Oh wait, expo is dead.

    Quoted from cait001:

I don't want to start "a thing", but for those downvoting, I just want to point out SA is notorious for it's bigotry towards LGBTQ people. Sometimes SA is there and is better than nothing, but I'm just saying don't shrug off any Salvation Army critique just because they're a well-branded charity. Lots of classic institutions have a lot of growing up to do, SA included. all that said, Tim can do whatever the hell he wants with his money

What you wrote is the SA is a bigoted organization, and that it is 'there sometimes'. The SA is there MOST/ALL the time, when asking its members and volunteers to step up and has *boots on ground*. Often much faster than you read about it online the next day after your morning Crap-in-chino and a good nights sleep (oblivious to the events even happening) on your Casper or Purple. The SA does the job effectively, and lean in most if not all districts. Some better than others, and yes no organization should have a pass on being responsible and accountable. Not 'sometimes' (def: occasionally, rather than all of the time.), yes not all the time but most of the time when asked.

And for the LGBTQ folks, they are a minority of the world (seriously minority), and are *OFTEN* treated as such by *MOST* people. The SA doesn't discriminate when offering help at all in my experiences with the SA. How about this fact, women still make less than men for the same job title. Question is, do they do the job as good and deserve equal pay, or better and deserve more pay, or shouldn't try and stay at home and make babies? Which is it, you can't have it all ways. So, what about the GLBTQ group if your answer is yes?

All that said, TA can do whatever he wants with his money, not having much to do about Hell at all.

    #229 5 years ago
    Quoted from scottslash:

TA is planning to keep visitors from taking pictures?

So wait, we have 'members' with badges or some sort of recognizable non-bothering method of ID'ing them, and everyone else will be hassled to not take photos? That is insane thinking, either on speculation or by the management.

    #232 5 years ago
    Quoted from gutz:

Maybe take photos with certain pinball people that will also be at the party?

The whole notion that you will be allowed or not to take photos as some 'treat' or 'incentive' to join is stupid to start with, and clearly as others have said nearly, or entirely impossible to enforce without becoming a HUGE hassle both for staff, and those visiting or not seen as compliant but are, etc. Stupid idea all around, one of the dumbest I've heard in a long time.

    #241 5 years ago
    Quoted from Darknight:

Can't wait to go and play pinball. $$ sent.

You could have in the past, present and likely the future just go and play pinball at PHoF, at just $.25 per game on the old EMs and play RARE games without sending in cash to begin with, hmmmmm. Maybe OP will get with it and have some folks follow up on the request for money. Sadly, maybe I'm wrong, but the fund raiser for the million dollars (its a MILLION dollars after all) isn't going to even come close to being met? Lets do the m[a|e|y]th together. 10000 people are going to blindly send in 100 bucks each? How many people wanna place 1 dollar bets against this happening with a return of 1:[2|3|4] odds???

    #247 5 years ago
    Quoted from greenhornet:

it appears tim will be a speaker at expo '18 next month discussing:
    "the PHOF is moving uptown"

If you haven't see a cats-ass-trophy rightfully deserved and delivered, you need to see this stuff (the entire thing, but mostly at 59:28). Love them or not, they so deserve it. So deserve it.

Some folks simply are freaking SLOW, and others have loads of experience. Its really that simple.

    #249 5 years ago
    Quoted from jasonp:

Sponsor any machine you choose ... The $$$$ you pledge goes to said machine to ensure it gets priority over non sponsored machines and
Sponsor gets his ego stroked ...... Pretty basic stuff.... Think PBS or NPR.

Oh man, if you bring PBS and NPR and go back to Pacifica, there is the problem with this model, however 'democractic' is may feel.

    -7
    #257 5 years ago

Pretty sure you misused the old school (30s maybe) but trending for millenials make-believe word you looked up today... 'a person who is timid or submissive.'

TA has done nothing but coin op in his entire life. He is not a designer of stuff and things, he is THE director of stuff and things (by his own admission). So the admission to his show of stuff, and things is what it is. Gruff, or tooled, or lax, or hard working, or passive agressive, who cares. He gets it done, has donated a craploadola of money and dedicated his [w|l]ife and played his fife to the tune of millions of dollars to local and other charities. Good for him, the following mininions over the decades. If you get up and can say the same thing, that you have a solid or transient following, gets food on Fridays occasionally as a thanks, and once a year you dial back for 2-3 hours on Thanksgiving for those that are lost and destitute, well, then you are TA. Otherwise you're a poser, wanting to be something behind a keyboard.

God Bless, or Allahu Akbar, אלוהים גדול, or whatever is your agenda, PHoF and SA along with the mission of doing for others without much of a prejudice or conviction is amazing. Would like to see 10,000 people donate 100 dollars in time, or real money (the issue here), or STFU about it. Its a much bigger picture than pinball and folks enjoying it, its about CONTRIBUTION.

I'll assume that TA is the bank for the bridge loan right now, and at 5.2% from my simpleton calculating noodle that is about right for the loan % considering the risk and the market. TA deserves the 5.2%, or 48,000 dollars a year for the loan, after all if he did loan it he deserves a return on his investments. The markets are about that now, so this IMHO is a high risk (low for him, but high for anyone else) speculative investment. The funny part is he knows the markets, knows the customer, has a plan of action, and is executing it piece by piece. Its a lovely thing to see. Shall we all learn from it, by watching, participating, and enjoying?

    #285 5 years ago
    Quoted from poppapin:

MOP seems to be only open for special events? Probably don't get the traffic PHOF does, hopefully those machines should be nicer!!

MOP also has dozens (about 50) highly qualified volunteers at the event, and a couple in house full time or part time folks, and yes the games are generally in MUCH better condition as a result of a few weeks a year use, and literally folks driving in for events from as far as the Mississippi and beyond. One thing to be kinda concerned about MOP also if folks are bitching about SA and PHoF, is the apparently religious links to church/es in MOPs world. Not saying its bad, but if folks are going to complain about religion and pinball, well then all being equal it seems that would be fair game.

As for the PHoF recent buy, they had to spend the money somewhere/how. You can't just hoard money in the millions with a mission statement of 'for a building and improvements' without some issues with the IRS and tax status. Its also not responsible management of money if the mission is not executed sooner or later, and we are in the 4-5 years of hoarding stage. The next door building made no sense, in the past few years, and was a silly fun stupid idea really to begin with in honesty. That part of Trop is dead, dying and never to see revitalization in our lives. Its section 8 heaven down there now, and getting worse with real estate buys and sells, and tax delinquencies sales. PHoF got their property next to them for 11 years back taxes, about 311K as I recall. Not bad for investment if you think God isn't making land any more, but with splitting seas and faults in the plates, that is not actually true is it...

So, back to where they bought... It does look pretty pathetic of a location/destination. Time will tell, but remember they HAD to do something with the money, responsibly or not when it comes to economic reasonable thinking and lacking emotion..., they simply had to build or donate it all at some point. I'm thinking that time to jmp brk or lda. I'll guess it was time to jmp to a new $FC58

    #288 5 years ago
    Quoted from vid1900:

Tim is not a religious guy.
He said that when he looked at all the charities, the Salvation Army had the highest "dollar in/dollar out" ratio of actually helping the less fortunate people of Vegas.

Never said Tim was, said that some folks complain about SA being focused on the world of God and getting some 'bias' about their help to others (which in my experiences [and that is plenty], is total BS), and that if you complain about TA and the SA, you may want to consider that it seems pretty clear to me that MOP folks are pretty church focused down there in the freaking middle of nowheres-land.

    #296 5 years ago
    Quoted from JethroP:

Yes indeed, there will be pinball in hell, but if you like EM's you will be forced to play SS, and if you like newer games you will be forced to play EM's. If you've been really bad you will be subjected to flipperless bingo pinball for eternity. And the games will all be poorly maintained. And the games you really want to play will all be turned off and out of service. Pray you don't go to hell.

Sounds a lot like visiting Dodel's basement... Depending on what you call hell and enjoy or not.

    #298 5 years ago
    Quoted from vicjw66:

Your reading comprehension is almost as bad as your writing composition. Noone complained about being focused on “the world of god”. Some, like myself, question many of the practices of the Salvation Army. Never said that they don’t do good work in the community. I’m not a fan, but that won’t stop me from supporting the PHOF in spite of where the money goes. Now let’s keep make believe magic fairies in the sky out of this thread.

Does 'Noone' have a first name too?

    #301 5 years ago
    Quoted from greenhornet:

    #305 5 years ago
    Quoted from Jackalwere:

I've been to PHoF twice. Both times I enjoyed it immensely. Yes some of the games are broken and some are unlevel, but when I reported an issue the attendant immediately fixed it and gave me a couple of credits. I have enough trouble maintaining 11 machines, I can't imagine trying to maintain 500+. For what the place accomplishes on a shoestring budget and the amount of money it donates to charity, and some of the rare stuff it has, it's freaking amazing.
Does it really matter if TA doesn't talk to you? Does it really matter who the donations go to? Everyone has an idea about how to make their own personal experience better. That's a very entitled, self-absorbed attitude.
Your experience is what you make of it. So if you want a better one, it's entirely up to you and your outlook.

For things to get better, you have to get better. For things to change, you have to change. Its really that simple, and you hit it on the head. Don't like it, move along to the competition, which makes for all a better experience in the end.

After doing 5+ years 2x per year of photos and counts, that is about (including videos) 10% of the games on site being OOO.
Honestly, that is not that bad, but not great either. Somewhere in the 'OK' land. Hand it to the guy, and gals, and those
that come and pay to play, it seems to be working with over 5+ million raised, and some of that donated to charity and
the rest being used for real estate acquisitions for expansion and later mission stated gifted to local charity.

Would be nice to get an update on the donation/begfest cycle going on now. With 1 million dollars, or 10 million dimes, or 4 million quarters its a LONG way from being a slam dunk to pay it off. However with 1 million on the books as a loan, and I'm going to hedge strongly its a TA loan to the LVPCC with interest that is fair (4-6%) on the risk, and about 600-700K per year GROSS, and maybe 500-550K NET, there had better be some major improvements
and call outs to the public to get that money raised/donated to get that 4-6% off the books and going back to charity.

Bless these folks for what they are trying to do for the people in the community that are drug addicts and making an effort via SA to get back into the community (lately 100K donation) via a cooking/culinary arts program (?), or other skills that bring in tax dollars. Bottom line, who
cares if 10% of the games are not working today, tomorrow it might be 3% and the next it will be 15%. Still brings in more money
for good than anything you or I have ever thought about, let alone done.

I'm also going to guess that day-old-'fresh and hot' pop corn dispenser was moved back of building near the shop area because bags needed to reloaded more frequently by volunteers, selling out so fast (usually you can tell the business volume by the load each evening that is needed)or someone was relieving themselves into the dispensor cup below the out hole of the machine. Just guessing here.

    Now not for some guessing...

    Quoted from tullster:

I haven't been out there since the Big Shed days, but he had an Atari Road Runner that's super rare. It didn't work but looked pretty cool. Any sightings of it working?

The hit shed is a disaster unless in the past year or so TA has done something with it by hiring *serious* help to clean it up of rat, mouse and cat piss and sheet. Free stuff and disasterous part management has taken a toll, its scary and anyone been out there knows it. Would be a HUGE help to have 20-30 pinheads come out and donate a WEEKEND of physical labor, and knowledge to get it all back off the floor and out of stacks, toss out what doesn't matter or won't matter (let the king know it needs to be done) and move to a much (once again) organized manner. Its end game otherwise, transition may offer that peace of mind, 2-3 years from now, but for now that shit fest of a storage place for nearly 1000 games is sadly not what it once was. TA needs major help on that part, and won't open it up since its part of his house, and his life. Its embarrassing for him, for his family, and those that once knew and were part of that part of PHoF history. This is where $$$ spent on professionals, and or donated in time by long time friends and buddies would solve it in 1 long weekend again with 20-30 people. Its *THAT* much in need.

    #341 5 years ago

Apparently the 'food chain' is working so very well, so well 2nd dispenser brought in. Nice move, always disliked having to hoof/drag ass to the front to get popcorned.

    #351 5 years ago
    Quoted from Fytr:

I get why they sell it, but you're telling me the games aren't disgusting from popcorn oil all over them?

Unlike many 'arkades' the PHoF has some flunkies and volunteers doing it day and day out, wipe and klean the buttons, the bars, and the glass. Its kuite simple, fokus and keep your eye on the prize as the objektive. Ultimately the PHoF and its KKK (kleen, kleen, kleen) agenda has done its job to keep keep keep the quarters of its patrons and donate them to their kause. Kan't blame them for being suksessful, these folks kan and do understand how to keep the kleen kuarters better than anyone else in the koin op business within their spektrum. Kan you tell us of another that is keeping that All American dream alive better? I'll speculate knot!

    Quoted from vicjw66:

I gotta admit, that popcorn was darn tasty and hit the spot considering that, and some Mike and Ike’s from the gumball machine, is the only sustenance to be had.
Super Dave, do you really think someone pissed in the popcorn tray? What would lead you to that conclusion?

Well, someone told a bird that another bird used to come into that operation and splay their dookie on the bathroom walls, for a long time. That is in part why they put in 'Vid-Bye-Troy'. Or at least that is the rumor. This is just conjecture, speculation, nothing solid like video of someone leaving a solid in the dispenser of said 1-2-3-4-day old pooped corn dispenser. Another bird says the recent shot is of the #2 dispenser, so maybe its all kleen.

We do have the Museum of Pinball in Banning, yes its open only about twice a year but I usually get about 6 months of pinball play into my system when I go there for a day (my record is 80 different machines in one shot which dang near got me into seizure mode). Awesome place. When I retire I might join the volunteer maintenance group then I can go there more often.

You may want to research and realize the kult of personality involved in that place. Its very church oriented, there is NOTHING else to do out there in Banning. Its extremely clique oriented and if you are not in, you are VERY out.

    Quoted from MrBally:

    1610 E. Tropicana
New location is two years away at a minimum.

If the loan isn't paid off in 1 year, what does the underwriter get from the LVPCC? If the LVPCC fails to pay off the 1 million
in a year, do they get to renegotiation of the loan terms?!? (upwards likely with interest rates going up). Is that in the
best interest of the public and the community at large, or the underwriters? And what comes of the money that is
donated (you can kiss it goodbye, its gone, out of your hands, there are no terms other than t-shirts and 'memberships' to
VIP parts of something that doesn't exist yet, and is not guaranteed [but I will speculate will happen eventually]). This
is all very speculative, and interesting to play out as a loan with interest to a club/organization where most if not all
the machines, people, and visitors to the place pay homage to the guy/club-member that makes it all possible. Very
    interesting stuff.

    Quoted from too-many-pins:

It is my understanding that Tim has personally backed the loan so he didn't have to sell the building he is currently in until the new building is actually built. I think the idea of asking for donations was to save some interest cost not because he needed to pay off the "bridge loan" in full or anything. PHOF is owned by Tim and profits from that go to charity but as with most people Tim's personal assets will likely have nothing to do with the business.
Bottom line is Tim has always tried to keep overhead as low as possible to give as much as possible to charity. I have to assume the idea of saving interest money by asking for donations is yet another way to keep cost down and nothing more. Maybe I am not understanding things correctly but that was my take on things.

The PHoF has a building, some land and it has some assets in games/parts/and etc. All that is owned by a 501c3 organization that is not TA, but is a IRS recognized organization that has tax benefits (these are significant) and has a mission statement for a building fund (which it seems to be FINALLY pursuing) while it has literally hoarded 3-4+ (?) million dollars instead of donating it to local charity (apparently those organizations, mostly the SA are not worthy as of now for cash, and its hard to decide what is worthy in asset or cap ex purchases that make sense [~511K buyout of locals to shut up about 7 years ago, another ~60K for a truck to the SA about 5 years ago, most recently announced 1 year ago for ~10K for SA culinary schooling of drug recovery, and a rather personal and small donation of 5K donation for PHoF live-in's personal preference charity, etc]).

Bottom line is the PHoF as a 501c3 MUST make good on its mission and directive, otherwise upon review will eventually lose its status with the IRS. Hoarding money is NOT a good idea when it comes to charity and IRS. Thus, we have a move, a final decision on what to do with the money. This is a motion in a direction that both makes good on the mission statement for another 2-3 years, and also gives TA (if he is indeed the backing money man) some kick on his assets and gets his vision moving in the right direction for the rest of what is likely the (short) rest of his rather life long and productive career.

God save the Queen, and God bless TA and his minions. They have all done well, in their own ways.

Most likely.. Some take aways (if you aren't inclined to watch 70 minutes of Tim talking)

    1. Tim rarely uses a computer (but I think he's realizing he has to start learning)

Correction, he uses computers all the time. Nearly every day, on site (lappy in the money vault room), or next door at Paradise.

    2. Tim would like to see the PHOF continue on after he passes, but based on what happened to the liberace museum after he died (basically workers stealing everything), he worries anyone else will have his same passion.

Correct, it seems that place was looted shortly after it closed by the board members themselves, so a board for PHoF would
also have to be very carefully monitored afterwards, likely mostly pinheads, and major product of PHoF is RARE unobtainium.

    3. If he were to find someone willing to replace himself, he would need about 5 years to properly train them.

He has a habit of finding people that eventually leave, don't have the insane dedication it takes and/or patience
to put up with the BS of the customers complaining, and this project taking up their entire life. AKA, training someone
and then they leave, go work for someone using the 'training' as schooling and leverage it for themselves elsewhere,
and/or taking money (Tim don't give keys to money boxes to anyone) and stealing. Its common and he hates it.

    4. His board of directors is Tim and a few friends, but he realizes this business has become too big and he needs to start bringing others to help make decisions.

The board of directors is described on each filing. Its not actively 4,5,6 or 7 as mentioned. Its more like a required minimum from what I have seen.

    5. He already has a buyer for the old building (a car wash) which is willing to wait 2 years for him to get his new building erected, and possibly a 10 month extension. They already bought the land for 2.8 million (more than it was valued at), and he is basically going to get to stay there rent free for the next 2 years (but have to pay $15k per month if he needs that extension).

The buyer is wanting it, and I'm not sure they have closed. I'm not sure they have 'sold' it, but a promissory note maybe or letter of intent?

    6. There's a possibility to extend his land 40 feet south, but the harley dealer isn't very communicative or easily negotiated with.

Don't' believe the Harley Dealer has a thing to do with the new land talks and extension of 40 feet swap. Its the 10 acre guy.

    7. There's a rule you need 3 parking spaces for every 1,000 sq feet of building (even if it's storage). You can build out that space, but when you go to sell the building that doesn't count as square footage (lost money).

You need 3.3 for a museum use, and 4 for retail. TA and company don't feel resale down the road after he's gone or it fails will make the property worth as much, in fact much less (very good assumption). Variances will be hard to either get, or if granted hard to get again if it changes purpose for the building.

    8. Because this is on the strip, Tim can't build a plain white garage building.. It needs to be flashy (which may turn it into a legitimate museum, not just a pinaball club).

It doesn't need to be flashy at all, it must pass mustard with the Las Vegas planning commission, and they have a committee that will look at and approve the look and feel of the building plans, or they wont.

    9. He needs 2 permits, one for the building itself, and a permit to operate a crane next to an airport because of the height. That goes above and beyond land surveys, soil samples, etc. Also that curve you see on the layout is required so a firetruck can make a 180 turn in his parking lot without backing up.

He needs a building permit of course, and he needs to get an FAA permit for the height of the crane for when it is on site lifting walls into place. The latter permit is required due to auto pilot operations for structures in the area of an airport where the software takes over and does 'stuff' when the plane is below those known structures' height.

    10. Tim owns the bally neon sign and plans to rebuild it and put it outside.

Not a bad idea either. When did he get it from JPoop is what I'd like to know. Maybe that sign should be sold and used to pay back scammed investors.

    11. he also owns 5 of the pellet gun games from riverview in chicago and wants to fabricate targets to make it playable.

This gun system is wicked cool, and would be a huge fun feature. However, and I'm just speculating... With the nature of the mass murder shooting at Vegas, this item of interest may not be welcome by customers, or the general public. Cool as hell, seen it and loved it. However, likely not likely PC in the LV(PC)C. With big comes some exposure, more eyes and minds wrapping around what is going on, the board, the media, the public, etc. I personally doubt you will ever see this game at the new location for these reasons and maybe even more importantly, liability. Shame too, that stuff is fun fun fun. He also owns 4 more as parts/pieces/replacements.

    #370 5 years ago

If permitting is required for that game, getting it could be a real issue. Just speculating, I don't think that game will see operation at PHoF. Cool if it does, I'd go and enjoy shooting up 'targets' or stuff animals on strings, or even some pictures of some famous and not so famous <<nouns inserted here>>. Maybe they will run target retrieval systems so you can put your loved ones up for a shot or two as well, while they do it as well next to you.

    Quoted from Lethal_Inc:

Better spend some more time setting up the games correctly cause they are pretty rough. Half of em need maintenance or were turned off, and nearly all needed to be leveled. Love the place, but the games could play much better.

I've always said step up or shut up. Fix leveling, and if you don't like crawling on the floor, then ask them to fix em. If they won't, don't go back. There are TONS of shows around the US now that are focused on the players, and they do it right most of the time. Texas is now the leader, NW is another, and the folks at Banning do a bang up job. There is a place in Pitts, places down in Florida, and in NJ, there is Lyons, and the EM joint in Manitau Springs, as well as many more in Portland (small and large). Oh, VFW (very 'clean' show), Alemeda, TT's collection (amazing, but apparently thining it out), other large collections, ad nausea, etc. So many places to go where the games are apparently kept in better condition. TA honestly doesn't have to do a thing to compete, its working and bringing in millions for charity. Is there anyone even close to bringing in 100K yet? I don't think so.

One thing he does have is 45+ years of experience, stubborness, some witches around him that fly their brooms around cleaning things up and making t-shirt decisions that fail to meet the deadlines, and of course many 1000s of happy customers. I find it fascinating that folks call it a dump as if they are calling something out as unique or needs to be told. Of course its a dump, in a dumpy area, with mmostly dumpy customers. TA is a bottom feeder, bottom dweller, and mostly is in the real estate 'business' with a IRS recognized and authorized 501c3 social club mapped on top of it. He says so clearly in his 'talk' (clearly a public update and beg fest) and laughs about it, as if he is giving you a 'clue'. Get it yet?

TA and company are fucking the man and laughing about it. If you think about it for a second, or even a little more its quite beautiful too, while doing good for society and charity. Is about as good a 'screw the man' as it gets, just know the rules and play by them and WIN. So now he is humbled (maybe) a bit and is begging folks to help, donate, make the next phase of this fantasy come true.

Step up or shut up is my mantra on this issue about quality of the games, or the look of the place (DeMar, seriously?). There are options, stop hitting your heads against the wall that isn't gonna give back anything but more brain damage.

Would pinball's ultimate pirate actually get into the square circle with music's ultimate butt pirate, while playing PM5K's 'when worlds collide?'

    https://www.reviewjournal.com/entertainment/entertainment-columns/kats/las-vegas-pinball-hall-of-fame-owner-still-flipping-mad-at-elton-john/

If it involves pinball, promotions, and profit for charity, eight ball says most definitely likely.

BTW, and most definitely congratulations on the variants granted in the design approval process. These things often take a LONG time to iron out with so many stake holders involved with so many opinions and examples of variants denied to back up their claims. Its a very good step in the right direction.

I bet with 'business' like this in Vegas, well the PHoF and any other tourist based business is 'dead' right now.
