I was mainly creating this thread as a tribute to the PHOF, and so we could drain the thread that was putting a negative slant on Tim and the work he does. This place is a gem, as is any place with an overabundant amount of machines these days. Games break down...it happens. They are machines after all. I visited the PHOF quite some time ago, and I had a blast. If you've visited recently, in the past, or are planning a trip to LV, post some pics and share the experience! Keep those balls rolling! (ok, that didn't come out right......or did it?)

    #2 7 years ago

Silly, threads with positive sounding titles usually are left to rot after falling of the "front" page .

    Good luck...

    #3 7 years ago

We went to PHOF as a family a few years ago. Had a great time. I was able to play so many games that you don't see very often. This is where I fell in love with a Gottlieb Neptune. I love the art and the game play. I never thought I'd be able to own one, until last year I found and Hit the Deck. I restored it and will never part with it. I can't wait to go back to the PHOF. I took tons of pictures of all the games at the time and use them to compare on games that I buy. Tim is a nice guy. Just don't bug him with stupid questions. I recently spoke with him at the Shoot the Moon event in Alameda CA. Totally different guy outside of his business. All in all, it's a great place to go when in Vegas if you like arcade and pinball at all. For me, It's a must.

Agreed......Pinside is always good for some drama. I didn't start this thread in hopes that there would be 4,702 posts in an hour...just started it so people have somewhere to post when they feel like it that doesn't have the words "sucked" or "disappointed" in the title. Plus I don't ever want to slam somebody that has amassed such a complete and awesome collection of pins, and keeps them available for everyone else to enjoy. I post and read enough sarcastic comments in other threads.

And Hit the Deck is an awesome game....I've never played Neptune myself. And that is the great thing about going somewhere like PHOF...even when I think I've practically seen or heard of every game, I still come across some that I had no idea even existed, or some rare titles that I thought I would never see (like The Pinball Circus). And when I see that someone else's entire collection isn't up and running 100%, it always makes me not feel as bad for having one or two games down at times in my line up.

I randomly came across a porno that was clearly shot at the PHOF.

PHOF is the reason I'm in the hobby. Went there once for an hour and was hooked for life.

    #13 7 years ago

I just booked a trip out there with my wife for the end of June. This is one of the first spots on our/my list. Can't wait.

    #14 7 years ago

Will be there in a couple weeks. One of my favorite places on earth.

    #15 7 years ago

Been there 3 times. We go every time we do Vegas. Great place. Love it.

What happened to the "We choose not to buy the latest Stern machine" policy?

    Quoted from MrBally:

I don't think that's been a policy for a while now. I think they skipped out on Mustang, WWE, and TWD, but since then they have bought KISS, GOT, GB, and WNBJM. There's also a Hobbit there as well which is an even more expensive game than the Sterns.

So, I've got to ask...has anyone been to Hawaii Message next to the Pinball Hall of Fame? I was there today and quickly realized this was sketchy as f%$@. I peaked my head in, because I had been thinking about getting a message while in Vegas, plus the day before we had hiked 9.5 miles. Anyway, as soon as I did this woman brings me back to what I thought was going to be a waiting room. Nope its the massage room. I should have known better, but I ask her the price and she said $100 for an hour. I indicated I was ready to leave and she said something like, "No for you $30". Now, $30 for a message isn't a bad price, so I agree. I do the normal disrobe and lay under the sheet, with my boxers on, though the door was open the whole time. She comes back and starts off by questioning why I have my boxers on. I tell her, "Thats my compfort level". So long story short, she gives this poor back rub for maybe 30 minutes and then starts telling me how good looking and young I am, while moving her hand to my inner thigh. I'm not going to lie, I'm totally weired out, so I quickly say, "Thanks, but no thanks". She tells me thats the end of the massage. I get dressed and she comes back to ask for a tip. I just want out, so I hand her an extra $10 and take a quick Uber back to the Strip. If that's not clear enough, I can sum it up by saying it's a rub and tug location.

    #20 6 years ago

Lol, I have always wondered if that is a “happy ending” massage parlor.

    #21 6 years ago

It didn't get to that point with me, but I can state with little doubt it could have gone in that direction.

    #22 6 years ago

Thanks, I'll have to check it out.

Tropicana is sketchy af. I prefer not to stop anywhere along that road. Now please go back and tell that poor lady to change their name to "Pinball Massage of Fame" and offer souvenir t-shirts for $15. She'll make a fortune.

As I turned the corner to meet my wife, I spotted the Pinball-Dad-of-the-Year at the PHoF today.

Had a great time with my family there during our trip this week. Games were in good condition and all that were on were working well, except Cue Ball Wizard that was missing a flipper. Got to play some rare ones :Cactus Canyon, Asteroid Annie, Circus Voltaire, and Goin' Nuts. Kids enjoyed Qbert. Had some time on Whitewater and Monster Bash. Forgot how fun Fireball was. Lots of modern Sterns (Metallica, GB, Aerosmith, BM 66, SW). Favs were Black Hole (daughter), Aerosmith (son), WOZ (wife) and tough call for me but would say Cactus Canyon (boy that's just a fun game). Plus after talking to some of the folks there, it is 100% volunteer and everything goes to charity. Stop by if your in Vegas, it's worth it.

I had a biz trip to Vegas this week and the PHOF was on my list. I hung out for about 3 hours. A big warehouse that is primal but, hey they have tons of machines.

Enjoyed playing the rare Circus, put up 4th high score, very interesting design. Played a bunch of Gottlieb’s, like Vegas, which was in good shape and played really well, like it was just shopped.

The Tron LE & LOTR LE were rough, looked like they got played a bunch. I am sure due to their status and location in the building. Still nice to see them both as they are some of my favorite pins.

Won a couple free games playing Monster Bash, a great Williams game. If you are a pinball fan and in Las Vegas put the PHOF on your visit list.

Pinball Circus is awesome. I definitely plan on throwing a couple games up on that next time I’m out in LV.

Haha, my mistake on the name, 'The Pinball Circus', 1 of 2 ever made is what the note on the machine said.

Yeah, that’s it. Just two. I’ve played the other one before.

Despite some of the negative things I've heard, I'm still planning on going in October. Supposed to go w/a friend who played alot of pinball w/me back in the late 70s to mid 80s when we were young. Haven't seen my friend much in the last 30 yrs so this should be a great trip.

I've been there 6 times and it was a blast from the past. I like The Pinball Circus (only 2 prototype units were made), Goin' Nuts (only 10 of them were made as they were used for engineering purposes only), and Challenger (a two-player only head-to-head pinball with only 110 units were made due to extreme failure). I really wished Stern Pinball made a head-to-head pinball machine so that Pinball Hall Of Fame can get one someday. That Las Vegas Premier Pinball Museum is worth a visit if interested in a lot of pinball.

BTW, I'm planning on visiting Pinball Hall Of Fame this December in Vegas, so I was wondering if Pinball Hall Of Fame hosts public events there.

Open to the public daily. Call anything you want an event. They also host special events such as tradeshow afterparties. Usually the public can still play the machines, just not participate in any of the reindeer games.....

    #36 5 years ago

I would’ve said the same thing. If you want to host something there, reach out to Tim. I’m sure he would be more than happy to accommodate if you had a group of people or were thinking something else.

Only 2 of them were made and never got released nor started production.

I'm also was thinking, is it okay to take pictures of Pinball Playing People (like visitors) at Pinball Hall of Fame? 'Cause I might plan on doing it during my visit there.

    Other visitors.

    #41 5 years ago

I would assume as long as the other visitors you’re taking pics of don’t mind.

    #42 5 years ago

Legally, unless it's posted or you are asked by a staff member to stop you have the right to take pictures within the business including pictures of other patrons. I guess use your judgement though. If you are taking pictures of people and Tim or another employee get's annoyed they could also ask you to leave instead of just asking you to stop.

    #43 5 years ago

So when is this all suppose to happen? I personally don't mind the current location because it's nice to get away from the strip and so many people. I'd rather Tim put the new place near downtown Las Vegas instead.

New location is two years away at a minimum. It will likely take longer.

Does anybody who enjoyed PHoF wished that Stern Pinball makes a One-or-Two-Player Head-To-Head Pinball Machine so that PHoF can get one anyday?

Next month, I'm planning on visiting PHoF in Vegas, so I was wondering if any one of y'all wanna meet up each other for Christmas or New Year's so we can play a couple of rounds of Pinball and maybe playing Challenger. I don't actually know if PHoF is gonna be extremely packed for Christmas and New Year's. Just curious.

Wish I was going...Vegas never sleeps, so I’d imagine some people will be there. No idea how busy it would be. Bright side - if it’s not busy you can play multiple games on every title if you want.

Good luck, most games aren't leveled or not working correctly. Thankfully there's Pinball Circus!
