Let's not forget aboot the Arnold Brothers two arcades in Michigan that are suffering and the associated gofundme. While Tim is out of the picture on these locations, he is part of the heritage of these places and always cites them in multiple news stories aboot the PHoF.

    Quoted from ILovePinball:

My suggestion to Tim to increase his bottom line (when he moves to the strip) would be to charge an admission
say like $40 all day or $10-$15 for 1 hr and set all the games to freeplay AND sell alcohol. This seems like the
preferred business model as I travel the USA visiting these places. The Silverball Museum in Delrey Beach,Fla also
in Asbury Park,NJ seems to do quite well as they often have 2 cashiers collecting $$$ for entry during busy times!!
That way everyone who enters will linger around,1st getting thirsty for a craft beer and 2nd,hungry for a pizza,or sandwich.
They also sell many swag items.Tim WILL get thru this Covid mess! He's NOT going to abandon ship at this point!!!

    Duly noted....

    Quoted from RazerX:

miracleman I honestly asked myself the same question, lol. I guess its because I love pinball and couldn't pass up the opportunity to play some Pinball Circus. I wish someone would remake that damn game already! As pinmister pointed out, many of the EM and woodrails are generally in better working condition than any of the different eras of SS games, so I enjoy that part of it. I would definitely not make the effort to go to the old Tropicana location any more, but if I'm in town and its walking distance on the strip I might. I just wont spend much and leave if it's status quo.

So, can we count on your donation?

To everyone offering Tim "tips and suggestions" on how to run his organization; take 30 seconds and click on the following link. Just watch from the 36:15 mark to 36:40

    That is all....

    #196 3 years ago
    Quoted from flynnibus:

You just coined your tagline for future video ads...

cfh coined it for Tim over eight years ago in the video above at the 28:50 mark.

    #208 3 years ago
    Quoted from pinmister:

My hat is off to Tim, I have respect for people who do it their way despite what others say. He reminds me of another Las Vegas legend who decided to take his own path in life.

Now there's a true legend. Always dressed to the Nines when performing, and perform he did.

He played at Bally's Las Vegas and Reno several times. He also was a spokesperson for Bally. Also a personal friend of the late, great Bill O'Donnell who made Bally into the largest manufacturer of coin operated amusement and slot machines.

Las Vegas Pinball Collectors Club (which is what the thank you from gofundme said....)

Dang, still no Indoor Tanning services.... Maybe someday at the new location.

Note that I am NOT suggesting this. It's only because of the ridiculous line on IRS Form 990.

    #250 3 years ago
    Quoted from fredsmythson:

The idea to move the PHoF was simply a bad business decision. Even before the pandemic... An arcade business with no marketing plan, maintenance issues, poor customer service and a rapidly declining customer base is a recipe for failure. And Tim wants to move all of this to a new multi-million dollar building on South Las Vegas Blvd? Add Tim's ultra-hostile attitude towards his customers and the PHoF probably won't survive for long.
Donations??? The pinball community has graciously donated to the PHoF project for over 25 years. The result was a great home for the PHoF on Tropicana Ave. Now Tim wants more donations to move the PHoF and to help with his financial SNAFU??? No, thank you.

Looks like we can't count on a donation from you, eh?

On her way to the new building....

    #277 3 years ago
    Quoted from JethroP:

Why did @D_Gruanch downvote me in post #269? Was he downvoting as a gesture of sadness that I traveled across the country to visit the PHOF and found a bunch of machines out of service or in need of repair? Or was it because he wasn't happy with me expressing my truthful experience? In case anyone is wondering, I based my expectations of what to expect at PHOF when planning my visit on the following, taken directly from the PHOF website:
"All machines are available for play, so not only can you see them, you can actually play your old favorites. The pinball machines are all restored to like-new playing condition by people that love pinball and understand how a machine should work."
So can you understand my disappointment when things were not as described?
By the way, I am not telling Tim how to run his business....but would suggest PHOF correct the description in their website regarding machine availability, maintenance, and condition.

I wouldn't worry aboot downvotes. Whoever gives you any supposedly disagrees with you. They really mean little to nothing. As for the website description of the place, Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Or in magazines.

    #284 3 years ago
    Quoted from setzkor:

Yes, that website also says it's only 1.5miles from the strip...so the first time I walked from the MGM. Of course it's really 2.5 miles, which when walking is a huge difference. And its thru an area where I remember thinking to myself, "I wouldn't be surprised to look in the ditch and see a body." I did not walk back. So the lesson learned there...take a cab or Uber.

As I've mentioned, don't believe everything you read on the Internet. Maybe Tim was thinking Metric that day or something....

    Quoted from Dogford_Studios:

I donated but suggest next time include a raffle with a grand prize - long weekend in Las Vegas for two including air and hotel.
It's in the Las Vegas's Chamber of Commerce's interest to get this project finished and added to the city's attractions. I'd think their members would gladly donate an off season room, air fare, meals etc.

The grand prize has been selected for this GoFundMe: The PHoF remains open in a new, larger building with almost triple the amount of games to play. Everybody wins this grand prize!

    #399 3 years ago
    Quoted from xsvtoys:

HOLEEEE CRAP. Wow, thanks for posting that picture.
The only thing I would change would be to dedicate more room for the games, and less room for stuff like bathrooms, etc.
    KIDDING!!
For the OCD types like me, I tried to count this up. This might be off a little, but this layout looks like 774 pinball machines and 150 or so video games.

Just watch the video of the layout on the GoFundMe page...

    #414 3 years ago
    Quoted from PismoArcade:

Took a drive to PHOF yesterday. Had a blast playing a bunch of newer games for the first time (EHOH, TMNT, JP) and older ems. Every other machine is turned off for physical distancing but Tim will turn a game on that you want to play if you ask him. Dropped over $20 in quarters and played until my wrists were sore.
Bought a T-shirt which gets me into the soft opening of the new PHOF when it opens. Had a blast playing and I'm looking forward to returning next week.
Of course, I had to stop at Sammy's L.A. Pastrami a couple of blocks away to bring home dinner. Best pastrami around.

The drive in from the North is pretty neat these days with the Jumbotron on Circa.

I agree that Sammy's is great for drive up and take home. As good as The Hat locations in La-La Land. But if you want to sit down and eat at a Deli in Las Vegas and not deal with the strip; go a couple miles from the current PHoF to Weiss Deli on Sunset & Green Valley Parkway. You won't be disappointed.

    VonnieD, Heighway, Dutch etc.

Note that Dutch Pinball is not related to Dutch Bros. Coffee which has several Las Vegas and Reno locations.

You need this on a T-Shirt
    [quoted image]

Wearing a shirt with that image would require you to carry and swing a baseball bat to keep all the babes off of you.

    #471 3 years ago
    Quoted from vdojaq:

My donation is in. We are all going to help make this happen.
I want to live to have Tim yell at me another day! I walked into PHOF one afternoon with an In N Out iced tea. As soon as my 1st quarter dropped Tim walked right up and said you need to get rid off that right now. I did feel like an idiot.

You could have done with the iced tea what someone did with the "Fresh, Hot, Delicious and Nutritious" popcorn (Pre-Covid pic) right in front of Tim. Then you'd never have to worry aboot setting foot back inside

    Quoted from mwiz:

So that big arse billboard in the new parking lot, does the PHOF own that or city of Las Vegas?

Neither. Lamar Outdoor has a long-term lease on the sign that cannot be broken. It was included in the deed for the land if I understood correctly.

Also note that the property is located in Enterprise, Nevada.

    #541 3 years ago
    Quoted from too-many-pins:

I really don't understand so many "down votes" on post just stating the facts as I see them.

Relax, all a downvote means is that someone doesn't agree with you. It's nothing to worry aboot.

    #579 3 years ago
    Quoted from vdojaq:

Just walk the strip and people watch. That is pure entertainment on it's own.

One need not go on Las Vegas Boulevard / The Strip to have fun there. There is Industrial Road, Highland Drive and Paradise Avenue to name a few other streets that can be attractive to some....

    #617 3 years ago

    Here's another one.

But before I start, I'm not telling anyone how to spend their money or to even spend/donate. Donations are a very private matter in my mind. There are some preaching often to donate to PHoF. By now, everyone on pinside who is going to donate probably already has. They probably already helped spread the message on other forms of social media etc.

Check this out, it started aboot the same time Tim started his GoFundMe for the PHoF. It's for Ray's Ice Cream. a local, long-time dairy producing Ice Cream for commercial accounts along with their neighborhood shop in Royal Oak, Michigan. The owner struggled with the Covid restaurant closures in Michigan and started a GoFundMe hoping for $50K.

    Look what happened: https://www.deadlinedetroit.com/articles/27245/over_76_000_in_public_gifts_are_sweet_payback_for_ray_s_ice_cream_in_royal_oak

    "Dinner with Tim"...... LLLLLLMFAO!
How aboot dinner with Tim AND Clay????
Maybe the LVPCC would pay someone $3K to endure that?

    Quoted from nsduprr:

    Been there, done that...
At in and out burger with Michael Schiess (pacific pinball museum), Tim, Clay and me. In Las Vegas ready to go to Banning Ca pinball show 2015.[quoted image]

Looks like the In-N-Out location on Maryland Parkway by UNLV. Not that I'm familiar with the Las Vegas In-N-Out locations.

By the way, my condolences to you for enduring the two guys sitting across from you.

    Quoted from greenhornet:

the trop building is available for sale or lease. in the description, you can see the proposed plans for the car wash next door. i wonder if that project still has the green light.

No activity at PHoF this past Sunday as I was in the area. However, Tim's brother Tom, who owns the Pinball Pete's in East Lansing and Ann Arbor was Ill and then died this past Monday so I'm sure that is affecting the PHoF move.

Then ya go in after hours to work on the machines. Owning a business is not just a 9 to 5 job.
When ya own it you gonna have to put in xtra hrs to make it work

One of the VFW Pinball members moved to LV 4-5 years ago. He volunteered at PHoF cleaning & repairing games. He would come in around 7 am and leave at 11 am. Minimal interaction with patrons.

Actually, another VFW member also spent time and got free traler accommodations behind the 2nd Tropicana location.

Quoted from Chrizg:Quotes from Trip Advisor reviews
Miserable elderly man with, thick glasses a pony tail and headlamp walks around and ruins the vibe. Was told he is a partial owner. Been here 3 times in 2 years. Each time we come with adults and kids he walks around and tells/ berates kids for running and not using inside voices.
We went with our 2 year old daughter. One of the employees (extremely rude older gentleman) followed us around and harrassed us.
We were visiting with friends from out of state with 6 year old child. The older man kept reprimanding us with everything machine we touched. Followed us around like a hawk. Staff not pleasant either!!
We proceeded to try to finish up our coins and went to the other side of the building hoping he would leave us alone. I can see the man follow behind us and watch us. Staring at us! (Creep) As my kids were playing the car games the one next to it was broken.. my 4 year old was sitting in that chair pretending the game worked. Just pretending to drive. Not yelling not climbing not jumping just being 4 thinking she was driving. My husband said great he’s coming back. I looked behind me and he’s Rushing towards me. He then proceeded to yell and say You need to get your daughter off of there this is not a Chuck E. Cheese.
Tom Arnold followed us out, threatening us and antagonizing the situation. He informed us that this was not a place for children.

Just a quick note: pinball guy Tom Arnold died a few years ago.

Still a couple older casinos on Fremont St. that still have coin op slots and video poker. But agree overall Veges is mostly coin free now.

    Quoted from chuckwurt:

What about them? They get donations just like all other non profits.

Does the staff (Medical, professional and general labor) get paid? Or, are they all volunteers?
