Bank hates you... scammer performing a mitm attack... fake GFM look-alike page... false positive fraud prevention mechanism... poor internet connection... Tim,
I have a very serious recommendation that could potentially solve ALL the money woes.
How about selling the naming rights to the PHOF? Say a 5 or 10 year deal? To a Casino? To Amazon? To The Sands Corp.?????. They get to write it off as advertising. Could be a hell of a boost for traffic into the door as well?
The History Channel Pinball Hall Of Fame? I think you get the idea.
    Jack

I like the idea, but it would feel like Tim sold out. When arenas have cool names then they change to some insurance or phone company name.

    Donation made,
My top 3-4 things and looking forward till after this mask thing gets over with....

Fremont Street Experience at night with some coldies going down

I wouldn't care if it was PHOF brought to you by Tampax. As long as the place gets open I and get to play that massive collection.

Its not a bad idea, but with a pandemic going on not everyone has the funds. For some of us we are more focused on trying to support our local venues when they let us. Sorry but given the option between phof whuch has can borrow money and the place my local league runs, my money goes to the local. I'm friends with the local, I know his bottom line is in the toilet and its what puts food on and his employees table.

Shaming people for not holding the same views or clamoring because only 75k has been raised is somewhat off putting. Asking for donations is great, but the tone of some of the pro donation crowd is not helping the cause.

I agree with the above statement.

I’m sure Tim is gonna get things worked out and it seems to me $75k is pretty damn good thus far and an excellent chunk to be thankful for!

Being a Vegas junkie, I travel to Vegas half a dozen times a year, and have found the PHOF one of my stops on just about every trip. Heading back in about 3 weeks, so will make it a point to stop in. Just a quick question regarding the gofundme, do they take a percentage or do they charge the person donating? Or should I just make the donation in person?

    #367 3 years ago

% age,I chose 7%-My 25 went to 26.75...to go to GFM for some upkeep, cost of business or manager, something along those lines.

They ask for a donation when you donate to a campaign. It’s voluntary. So the campaign gets your full amount.

Go fund me makes money on every donation made, So yes a cash in person donation would be better.

I'm not talking shit about it, but it should also be said that the peanut gallery should not demand or shame others. Even more so during a pandemic where you do not know where their priorities lie.

So put me in the Angry at the people who are critical crowd. I have donated 2X and will continue to donate weekly until the campaign is over - Tim is running a charity that had the ability to generate massive amounts of cash including a self funding way to come up with 10M for a building - and we have ideas on how to do things better? When was the last time your passion project resulted in net cash flows of darn near 10M? I have a local arcade they have a ton of machines, and do I wish they did better maintenance yes - I am a home use owner, who has a few games to keep up with I got overwhelmed when I had 10 or something like that never stopped - so I am just thankful. Tim was winding coils by hand and fabricating stuff to keep games running when parts were non existence - so once again just a thank you Tim - see you on the strip.

After 9 weeks of constant phone calls EVERY DAY! we finally got word from the power company today that they will be bringing the line down the pole and connecting us to the JUICE by the end of the week. This will allow us to turn on and test all the fire protection, air conditioning and lighting equipment.
    One step closer!

I donated but suggest next time include a raffle with a grand prize - long weekend in Las Vegas for two including air and hotel.

It's in the Las Vegas's Chamber of Commerce's interest to get this project finished and added to the city's attractions. I'd think their members would gladly donate an off season room, air fare, meals etc.

Here's hoping one of the bigger pinball manufacturing companies will see the potenial in the above. "Welcome to the [brand name] Pinball Hall of Fame." The sponsor pays for the signage as well. They can use the wall space on the outside by placing massive LED billboards promoting their latest games. That will make loads of people aware of the existance of such games, as well as that there is a PHOF. To a lesser extend, the same goes for the wall space on the inside and it has a decorative element to it as well.

Or maybe a big videogame manufacturer could be interested, under the condition all their games end up on the floor in a special section(provided by the manufacturer of course)? It may not be completely in line with the current plans, but to most pinheads I don't think it will make a huge difference whether there are 700 pinball machines in there, or 600 and a huge section of arcade games by the company that sponsors the location for the first 5 years or so. Fact is, whether there are 600 or 700 pinball machines in there, most people only spend one day of their visit to Vegas at the PHOF. They can't play all games during such visit. By having a videogame manufacturer as a sponsor, you might bring in a whole new audience as well.

The grand prize has been selected for this GoFundMe: The PHoF remains open in a new, larger building with almost triple the amount of games to play. Everybody wins this grand prize!

Holy crap with the amount of judging/throne sitters in this thread. I've only every been to the PHoF once...but it was an amazing time. Would really be a shame if this place didn't make it because this country can't figure out how to manage a virus.

I've donated because I hope to return some day!

    12
    #385 3 years ago

Donated. Not a large amount though, as I've also donated to several other pinball/arcade related gofundme's in the last week. A lot of need out there right now. Still every bit helps.

Also, people offering suggestions for how to run the PHOF don't understand that outside of the pandemic, the PHOF makes LOADS of money. The PHOF making money isn't the problem, the problem is that during COVID foot-traffic is down like 75%. And no amount of changing up how they operate the PHOF is gonna change that. Foot traffic and earnings will go back to normal once the vaccines roll out and cases drop down for an extended period of time.

Well, we know Gottlieb won't be one of them!

This is exactly the point of a sponsorship for the name on the building. That's all it is. They own nothing of the PHOF other than naming rights.

The point is to get the $$ amounts up. There is a finite number of donors and not everyone is going to actually travel to LV.

Time to make this easy to find again! I wish everyone that posted here would just cut and past this to the bottom of their post to make it easy for people to find and donate but that doesn't seem to happen very often.

Already donated on day 3 (before I seen this thread) and received a nice thank you note from Tim. Kicking in again real soon since I can't be there in person to throw money into the machines - but once things get to whatever you can call 'normal' I do plan on it! I can't wait to see the new location, additions to the collection and the rest of the changes Tim has discussed.

I've been to the PHOF every time I've been to Vegas - and without a doubt each visit was the highlight of the trip. And like every arcade I remember in the 80's-90's, not everything was working 100% of the time - so what?!?! - I didn't let that stop me from simply enjoying being there and playing part of their massive collection. Hell, I have a few games 'down' in my own collection at any given time - yet I don't hear complaints when I have a party and people come to play my lineup as most understand it's an aspect of the hobby. (If it's not broken - it's not pinball) Now multiply that number by 10 or 100+ and it's going to be a full-time job just to keep things running - and I appreciate Tim and the volunteers for all they do.

My understanding is that Tim and the PHOF are not looking for suggestions on how to run their organization or using this as an opportunity to listen to all the negative attitudes - they are simply asking for donations to keep the plans made for this project on track. Covid threw many for a loop - and with traffic and thus 'donations' down (every quarter is a donation after minimal expenses) it put the project in jeopardy. I stepped up and put my money and support behind this because this is an organization that matters to me. If you choose not to then fine, but nobody wants to hear why you didn't or whatever. If you can't show your financial support but believe in the project, then please spread the word so it hopefully finds others who can show their financial support.

No matter how small or large you choose to give, it all adds up. Let's keep this project on track! https://gofund.me/37f7e2b2

Super Bowl Challenge - Lets see if we can hit $150k before the Super Bowl and then try for $200k fully funded by the Daytona 500 the following Sunday (Valentines Day). Wouldn't it be a great Valentines Gift to the hobby and the PHOF to hit the $200,000 goal for Valentines Day!

Come on guys we are almost 1/2 way there in 12 days that gives us almost another three weeks to make this happen and take some stress off Tim as a Valentines gift to him & the PHOF.

    https://gofund.me/37f7e2b2

Give a little if that is all you can afford - dig a little deeper if the Corona Virus has not been too tough on you - all of us working together can make PHOF a place we can all be proud of if everyone helps a little. Then when you finally get the chance to visit you can say to yourself "this might not have happened without our help". We need to get this money raised and get the bills paid so PHOF can open on time!

Donated. Hope to make my first trip there in august.

Seeing an empty building is one thing, but seeing pinballs and arcades laid out on the floorplan really shows how crazy it is. I threw $20 in, I'm guessing since there are 10,000 locations (public and users) on pinside, if everyone threw in $20 Tim would reach his goal.

Photoshopped a full layout best I could

Donated again - I figure I usually visit Vegas maybe 3-4 times a year and I go to the PHOF on most visits and this year I went ZERO times. I would have likely spent close to $100 there so between my donations I should give at least that.

Maybe I will donate a third time...

HOLEEEE CRAP. Wow, thanks for posting that picture.

The only thing I would change would be to dedicate more room for the games, and less room for stuff like bathrooms, etc.

    KIDDING!!

For the OCD types like me, I tried to count this up. This might be off a little, but this layout looks like 774 pinball machines and 150 or so video games.
