Want to try a brand new Pinball Tournament format?
On Saturday April 2nd, Pinball for Change will be running the first ever (in Toronto, at least) PinBaseball Tournament. I need to thank Echa Schneider for the format idea.
It works like this. You play 9 games. Each game will have a set of score objectives posted on the machine.
Example - High Speed
300,000 - Single - You get a new runner on First Base and all runners move up one base.
700,000 - Double - You get a new runner on Second Base and all runners move up two bases.
1,300,000 - Triple - You get a new runner on Third Base and all runners score.
2,000,000 - Home run - You get a run and all runners score.
The top 8 players will qualify for the Postseason, where we will play a set of head-to-head matchplay series.
Round 1 - Division Series - Best of 3 Head to Head Elimination Match
Round 2 - League Championship Series - Best of 5 Head to Head Elimination Match
Round 3 - World Series - Best of 7 Head to Head Elimination Match
Entry Fee is $15, with $5 per round played being added to the prize pool and the other $10 being donated to my family's ongoing efforts to raise $5000 for Free the Children to help provide Primary Education to children in Rural Ecuador.
Additional rounds can be played for $10, with $2.50 being added to the prize pool.
This tournament is IFPA approved and will be awarding WPPR points.
In addition, there will be a side tournament (Minor Leagues) for people wishing to play non-competitively, and we will also have a rookie ball division available for the under-16 set. Those are $10 and $5 respectively, with no playoffs, prize pool or IFPA points.
Please visit www.portunionpinball.com to get more details and to indicate your interest in participating. Space is limited but qualifying rounds take place over 9 hours, so we should be able to get lots of players in.
