I've seen a lot of pins at quite a few shows but I've never seen the Wild Schiffs pin above.
Is this a rare or foreign made game?

Troy at Top Score Gamerooms did that conversion.

I thought they were going to make an appearance, but they have always been much more involved at Midwest Gaming Classic. I don't make every Expo, but I never remember them having their own booth. They would occasionally have a game at Back Alley's booth.

The seminar isn't until 8:45 tonight. Why would they put the machine out on the floor before announcing it?
(My guess is *at best* we get some sort of tease, but nothing built yet)

Yeah, I wasn't serious. Its a joke based on how many people are wishing its there, nothing more

To whomever recommended Weber Grill, thank you! Food and service were both great! (Although, as a Texan, I would not recommend the brisket. )

You’re welcome! Glad you liked it! Oddly enough the first time I went there I was with people I knew from Texas that loved it on previous visits to the area!

Thank you JJ, you helped make this one of the most amazing pinball experiences of a lifetime, your hospitality was and is much appreciated.

Today was surreal to say the least:

(I'm the guy without the hat, wearing glasses) in the selfies, my buddy (@pinballhead1) is the one posing with Gary and Steve

    1. Made it to round 5 in the B standing tourney, I'm not a competitive player, but I can blow up a machine now and then. It was fun and great people.

    2. Enjoyed the hospitality at JJ's suite and played some pinball, ate some chicken, and chatted up Gary, Seth and JJ and watched Halloween being played while Dwight Sullivan looked on next to me.

    3. Ran into chatted with Steve Ritchie and Gary Stern again in the concourse, along with Jack Danger, Mike Vinikour and Zach Meny

    4. Played tons of Godzilla, Legends of Valhalla and a bunch of EMs

    5. Treated to about 30 minute Kenada piano concert at 11:30 pm in the convention concourse hallway while Todd Tuckey and Jack Guarnieri joined in.

    6. Finally closed out the night by blowing up a GnR CE and Grand Championing it...

What a weird, surreal, pinball star struck day it was. I'll never forget it.

Morning! I'm excited to come up today for our first expo. My five year old son is wanting to join for part of it, and while I'd love for him to join I've never been before and don't know how good of a venue it is for the 'rising generation'. Is there a different price structure for kids and anyone have any thoughts based on their experiences or what they've seen? Thanks!

Takeaways from JJP's seminar/Q&A last night:

Don't expect any unlicensed games anytime soon. Could be a red herring, but Pat seemed pretty adamant about unlicensed games just not being a great idea right now.

Jack is just as pissed as everyone else with price gauging going on with CE and LE games. When asked to make more CE games, he said he would if he could.

Steve Ritchie needs his own open mic next year. Dude is a national treasure.

The amount of people they brought on stage seemed like overkill.

Absolutely nothing of substance was talked about (new game? new game tease? more Pirates? playfield issues?)

I kind of felt like they put things together a bit last minute, which might have meant they intended to do some reveal or announcement but things just weren’t ready. Someone was joking about the DI reveal earlier, and it may be better to just have a low key, forgettable seminar than a disappointing reveal people remember years later

Maybe they are saving an announcement for next weekend at MGC?

Seemed to have hand pick the questions like the president at a press conference. He ignored the guy in the corner of the room with the big sign.

This is not a complaint, but it's an eye opener. When you go to the Free play area, count how many games are Rob Berk's and you begin to realize how little amount of games were brought by everyone else. As usual, many of Rob's games work for a few hours and then are half assed or shut off completely. So may of those weird imports were shut off or completely unplayable.

I have to believe that the small amount of games brought by others was directly covid related.

True but I still can't get over some of those reskins, the Lady Death and Mata Hari are amazing... Especially the Black Knight 2000 next to it... Nicest one I've ever seen in person

Yeah I was shocked how few machines there were in the free play area… I was expecting maybe double or triple that amount. Kinda maybe it seem like expo was over once the vendor area closed…

Wish i coulda went this year, i did get a call from someone with expo asking me to bring games again, unfortunately i had cancelled my room a few days earlier. Guess they saw the writing on the wall.

This is a huge contrast to a local show like York where there were a LOT of machines brought by the community and a few vendor Machines but far more in working condition than at Expo. Rob is an amazing guy for bringing so many machines but obviously its impossible to keep that many running

    #434 2 years ago

Guys, I think the amount of machines in the free play area would not have fit in the old hotel room. They are just in a much bigger venue. True, it doesn't appear there are as many brought by the community this year. For us, we only brought 4 because of the uncertainties of the new venue and how the covid thing would effect everything. Next year we will bring more again.

Yeah, the expo seminar mic situation is kind of crappy. I'd rather see at least the main people on stage have a lavalier mic so there's not all the running back and forth. You can get an 8 channel wireless system with 8 lavalier mics and 8 headset mics for like $400.

And a shared audience mic in a pandemic is a very bad idea. I was cringing watching people pass around the same mic and put it right on their unmasked mouth to speak. Someone's getting sick from that or taking it home asymptomatically to someone else.

The only real thing of note mentioned was that everyone on stage were currently working on ONE game together. Likely whatever is after Toy Story, because I can't imagine Toy Story hasn't been finished for a while.

If anyone has a specific request of a game or feature here they’d like to see I’m happy to assist with photos or video. Send me a DM and I can handle! See you here if you’re here.
