    Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

It's pretty simple. The banquet makes the hotel a lot of money that goes towards the amount Expo has promised the hotel. That's why Mike insisted on having it.

I'm late to this, but... I had always been under a similar impression, but it's actually wrong.

I don't feel like I'm in a fair position to explain all that I know, but the banquet is a more complex thing. One thing I will say in it's defense, it did make Expo stand out.

    Quoted from flynnibus:

But you'll find Saturday evening suffers too... for the people who want to get home that night.

Yup, I was going to say the same thing. I expect that Saturday will be impacted at least somewhat by people pulling their games to leave earlier. The fee that they pay for removal is interesting, although having it such a late time is interesting.

It's the great problem with any show, the final day is tough to attract people to, but if you eliminate it, you just make a new final day and the problem restarts.

    Quoted from tamoore:

    I don't think so.
A final day being Sunday means I have to leave Sunday morning.
A final day being Saturday means I have to leave Sunday morning.
    Same.

    For you, sure.

From me talking with tons of people about this, they look at it as another night of hotel or leave earlier to get home and save the money. So, getting it late on the last day and staying over means an extra $100+ for it, as well as the additional time commitment.

I'm at the point in my life I'd rather take extra time doing stuff than trying to rush, but I get why most people feel they can't.

    Quoted from yancy:

MGC figured out a way to make Sunday great: family day.

Thanks We sure tried throwing a monkey wrench in that last year with 20 inches of snow that day. Yarg.

    Quoted from nwpinball:

Not any show. Some shows. Sunday is huge at other shows.

I don't think you read what I said in the way I intended it. The last day is hard to attract people to.

If you are saying that you did nothing and a ton of people show up the last day, then I stand corrected. Our Sunday, not including last year and the giant snowstorm that we had, has been equal to or slightly better than our Saturday attendance for the past three years before that. We put a *ton* of work into making that happen.

It's doable, but it isn't easy.
