    Quoted from Whysnow:

Lets be honest, all that really matters is IF expo can figure out how to become modern age to give paying customers what they want while also enticing the collectors to bring in the good quality and diverse selection of games (since that is a big part of what the community wants).

I couldn't agree more. For me, at least, Expo became stale. So much so, I quit going 3 or 4 years ago. The fact that so many of my friends were no longer going, didn't help either. The show just got old. People can blame whoever they want to blame, Mike....Rob....makes no difference. I feel they're both to blame. It was THEIR show.

I may go back again, but not until I see what becomes of the show. Instead, my wife and I will drive 6 hours to the Pinball Life open house, spend the day there Saturday, then drive 6 hours home on Sunday. And we do this because Terry and Margaret know how to throw a party and that's where all our friends will be.

    Has this been announced already?

I'm getting ahead of myself. No it has not. I'm not sure what Terry's plans are this year.

    Quoted from s1500:

I'm noticing the most popular vote is not caring about the banquet. It seemed like the Expo's schedule revolved around a banquet who's time seems to have passed. It also felt like the banquet was in the center of all the other rooms(I'm probably wrong here) physically locking out everything else.
I can't think of any other convention that just shuts down everything else in favor of one sub-event. That would be impossible at any other shows. "Okay, no game room or vending, everyone line up for food!"
I like the fact the website was finally updated to something modern.

It's pretty simple. The banquet makes the hotel a lot of money that goes towards the amount Expo has promised the hotel. That's why Mike insisted on having it.

I'm late to this, but... I had always been under a similar impression, but it's actually wrong.
I don't feel like I'm in a fair position to explain all that I know, but the banquet is a more complex thing. One thing I will say in it's defense, it did make Expo stand out.

I'm sure it's more complex than just making money, but Mike is the one who told me that.

Why would you even set games up on Wednesday to only move them Thursday when the hall doesn't open until Thursday anyway?

    Quoted from chad:

Thats how its been. Wednesday is set up time. I will be at the Stern tour Thursday , so that eats time.

No, they make it sound like they want games set up in one room on Wednesday then torn down and moved to a different room on Thursday.

    WTF is wrong with you?

    Quoted from jellikit:

If you'll be at Expo and headed over to Superdawg Drive-In (planned or not), please be sure to take a flyer so 20% of your purchase will go to Team G for JDRF. Superdawg is listed in the 1,000 Places to See Before You Die travel book and a Chicago staple. The flyers should be available tonight at the info table in the hallway and throughout the show. Thanks!

    Thanks you, sir!

    Quoted from jellikit:

I would just like to take a moment to follow-up and thank everyone at Expo who headed over to Superdawg with one of the fundraising flyers. I heard back and here are the numbers. 41 customers spent $821.81, so their 20% contribution (rounded up) was $175 for JDRF through Team G. Thanks again!
    Brad

Thanks, Brad! Now we need to make sure EVERYONE knows about this next year.
