I’ve noticed a lot more families the last couple years. Including mine. Maybe offer a family package. Sadly I noticed a family of six come and leave at the door because of the expense. Maybe base the family package on four admissions (2+2) and anything above that is free. We need the families, they are literally our future owners and operators. Maybe a kids only room? Not a big one, one the size of the little rooms off the mains.

But they are adding arcades this year, rob has wanted a combined show for awhile. Could boost attendance significantly if well promoted. Also admission is 30, I could be wrong, but is that less?

Ya that call is above my pay grade. Time will tell.

I’ll bring a pin and most of my arcades(which will be for sale). If all goes well that is, no freak blizzards in October....like we had at mgc.....

Im stoked no matter what. Anytime i can play pinball all night for free (provided i bring a game) im happy. Bad day of pinball beats a good day at work, anyday. Bring on expo!

    #150 5 years ago

I guess it closes at midnight so people can leave early and avoid the embarrassment of all those carriages in the lot turning into pumpkins.

im thinking of bringing five machines this yr, but all I have is an open trailer so hopefully the weather cooperates. I’ll wrap and tarp them just in case as always but I’m not taking chances if it’s all rain or even the s word. Four arcades and one pin, all will be available for sale or trade. Would like a tempest on arcade side of things, and wide open for pins.

If a lot of machines and vendors leave sat night......, now I’m contemplating not staying over sat night. Two rooms for a night where there is slim Pickens and still a lot of people equals no fun. I may be better off driving back whenever on sat.
We were staying fri/sat nights. Beginning to sound like sat night is not worth it now.

    Quoted from Lermods:

We are staying Saturday for the entire show, leaving on Sunday. We will have a dialed in on free play in our booth so at least there will be one game at the show on Saturday eve

    Quoted from Tilt:

well I know that my friends and I are going to have about 10 games there, several classic bally SS machine (possibly ones like frontier, Star Gazer, Skateball) and several other games, not sure which, but maybe southpark, rocky and Bullwinkle, F14 , eight ball, Indiana Jones and a couple more. Plus my ACNC will be unboxed and set up in Rob Anthonys repair room. We will be breaking them down sunday morning, NOT Saturday afternoon. So come enjoy our games Saturday night!!

    Awesome, thank you!!

Just checked, wed night is 136. Did u book through pinballexpo.net?

    Quoted from benheck:

Ads on radio, newspaper and TV?
How quaint. Maybe the AARP will bring some rest home people in with a bus.

Tell them it’s a new casino in town. They’ll plug quarters in all day long. Someone just needs to tell them “ bummer, you almost had a jackpot” .

Just checked my reservation, and it appears it was cancelled. Real nice. No notice, no explanation, just cancelled. Not by me. And now the rate code has expired. I had two rooms for two nights. Guess someone else needed them more. Guys, check and confirm your reservations. Be quite a surprise to travel, get there, and your room goes poof.

    #598 5 years ago
    Quoted from egyptrus:

If you have a confirmation number for your original reservation couldn't you call to find out who canceled it or why it was canceled?

I called and they were unable to give me a straight answer. They were able to get me one room at 300 night. I will have to call hotel tomoro and see if they can reinstate the rate. If not, then I’m not staying there. I had two rooms at 135 each per night. Now it looks like I’ll be driving down for the day and returning. Not happy. What’s the point of making a res and providing a credit card to hold it, to have it disappear.

    #602 5 years ago

Maybe it’s a one off problem. Idk what happened. If I can’t get the rate I’ll cancel staying over and buy a color dmd instead. Just irritated.

    #622 5 years ago

Glad to hear most people’s reservations are good, still waiting to hear from customer service. They “escalated” the issue and assigned a case number, whatever. I just want it in writing at this point. Just wait a few days after expo there will be a $600 charge for a no show. I’m still going, but prob just for a day at this point. I need new playfield glass and some spare wpc boards. Maybe get a color dmd and pinsound for my bsd. That’ll make me feel better. Worst part is I was going to bring some machines, but if it’s just a day visit then no, way to go Westin.

    #626 5 years ago

So.... after 35 minutes on the phone with Cs, i have a res for fri and sat night, but they won’t give me the expo rate even though I booked in April. So it’s 259 a night. So I tell them to cancel sat so the total cost is the same. They tell me I can’t cancel sat because they don’t have availability. What? I have fri and sat already, I want to drop sat and just stay fri. They say I can’t. Wow. So I’m going to cancel the whole damn thing. How messed up,is that? To go from 2 rooms/2 nights to 1/2 and because of their stupidity now they have nothing. Way to run a business Westin!

Cancelled. I’ll still go, staying at holiday inn down road for $105 with free breakfast. Cancelled credit card used to hold reservation, in case they claim I’m a no show.

Not cool. Not the shows fault, just a crappy reservation system I guess. But customer no service totally blew it.

    #629 5 years ago

Yes I had a confirmation number, but it showed as cancelled. They reinstated the room but not the rate as the rate has been closed. Even though I booked in April. Hotel refused to give me the rate. I suspect....I had a res for one room two nights, I called to add another room and they cancelled the first to create the second as a new res for 2 rooms 2 nights as I needed them adjoining. WTH happened to that one idk. No one will admit anything. They suggested I call hotel tomoro again and see if it’s in an “internal block” that they can’t see. Piss on them. I’ll save a bunch of money and stay a couple blocks away. Got an executive suite for 105 there. Just means I get to buy more stuff from the vendors. And oh baby I will!

    #631 5 years ago

As of right now, it’s one night, one day. I’m irritated tonight again, I may reconsider tho. I wanted to bring my arcades for sale at least. Your old f2k has never given me a lick of trouble. I upgraded to led’s and put in a board to control flicker, rubbers, balls, new topglass, and nvram, but I haven’t HAD to do anything. It has run flawlessly. Thank you again! We’re up to 1.6 mil as a high score.

Where is that nightmare before Christmas machine and the other homebrew pins?

Those are in the galloping ghost arcade room on the left as you enter

    #1221 5 years ago

I think the totan with color dmd and mirror blades was our favorite. Wish more people were brushed up on ettiquette, we waited for several games and those on them just started new games. So few high demand machines, just a ughhh moment for sure.

    #1226 5 years ago
    Quoted from Wmsfan-GAP:

It was nice meeting you at the meet and greet (I was the guy that knew you from the Todd Tuckey pic).
I hope your son has had fun and isn't too wiped out!

It was great meeting everybody today! My son barely made 9pm, lol. Between the drive, and not sleeping last night due excitement....he’s pretty worn out. At least tomoro is a new day!

    #1294 5 years ago

Just had awesome lunch at superdawg. Best part is 20% got donated to juvenille diabetes research. If youre still around its a left out of lot and straight like a mile on left side. Great food, great cause!

Just got home. We can argue about games, procedures, and venue ad nauseum. But bottom line is EVERY pinsider I met was friendly, gracious, and a pleasure to be with. So for pinside and it’s pinsiders. I mean it. You guys make the hobby.

I thought the video game room was a nice add-on. For the reason that it brings more families. Maybe dad loves pins but the kids like retro arcades. This way the whole family attends and that’s a win in my book. Maybe those kids look over and see a pin in there and give it a try and get hooked. And that’s how we continue as a hobby. There were some real dandies in there though, turkey shoot by Williams for example.

The vendor room I thought was great! Lots of pins, lots of parts, lots of mods. I hope the vendors made some money and had fun.

The free play room...ya there were some off machines, some less than in perfect function, but I really want to thank those who took the time, effort, and money to bring great machines. Thank you! It’s your machines we will remember, not the dark ones.

All in all we’re very happy to have been there. See you all at mgc!

    #1351 5 years ago

im glad the bowlers were there, but maybe have an option for a buck and one frame with no prize possibility. Especially for kids who would have no chance at beating the adults.

    #1501 5 years ago

I thought the vendor room was great, I bought several items. But I wish it was open earlier on fri and less so on sat. What I’d love to see is a flea market room. Not for my cat as he already has plenty, but for small one off items from small sellers. Maybe put it with the video games. Have small 4x6 tables that people can occupy for four hour blocks. Love to see broken boards, project cabinets, books, whatever pin/arcade related.
