I heard it....
On the way up I meant to hit Black Sabbath but accidentally hit this then we all remembered what a masterpiece this album is and listened to it twice. Was kinda the weekend soundtrack.
F you fourth floor.
*not you Todd*
**unless it was you**
Quoted from Gryszzz:Also worth a HUGE mention: this was the 1st year in 5 years I saw absolutely zero assholishness with game etiquette. Not sayin it didn't happen, and I admittedly don't play as much as most of you (too busy blowin smoke indoors) but I was AMAZED at the courtesy this year. Not one 4 player game, no rehitting start, no insults, frankly, it was astonishing. And I'm a little disgusted.
We had one guy that hit the start button again with us standing behind him … he got the tap on the shoulder from my wife and her saying that we were waiting for our turn. He said he was still playing. My wife started stating the rules. I just gave him "the look" and he walked away to another pin. We're a team.

I stood behind someone who was in the middle of a SIX PLAYER game of Godzilla. Thankfully, the ball got stuck and he didn't know that a heavy nudge would dislodge it. He walked away and I reset it to start a two player game with my son.
Quoted from dirtbag66:My very late review of this year's Expo (sorry, took some time off from Pinside for a little bit )
Overall I had a pretty good time. Vendor hall had a ton of really nice games. Got to play Godzilla which was cool. Deadpool seems kinda forgettable. Monster Bash looks absolutely amazing. Oktoberfest looks fun, didn't get to play it due to large crowd sizes at every waking moment. My son put up 130,000 and change on Pirates of the Carribean and got two multiballs (not bad for a six year old). Was bummed I couldn't find a new Special Force back glass. The search continues! A little disappointed that the drop target on Twister was unresponsive. Why bring that game if you can't see one of the greatest multiball gimmicks ever created?
I didn't even know the overflow room existed until my buddy told me about it. Finally got to play Radical! Cool game. Thanks to whoever brought it. The video games seemed out of place, but that wacky "choose your own adventure" type detective game was a hoot. I showed my son The Jetsons and Alice Cooper and he told me he wanted to play Mario Andretti instead. I told him it wasn't there, so his next choice was Thunderbirds. Take that for what it's worth.
As for the cops packing heat: seriously? It's a pinball expo. Pretty sure a loaded handgun isn't going to be necessary. But the shorter cop was hilarious. I only had two all weekend wristbands to use and was expecting my buddy to show up alone. When he brought his dad, the cop could see we were trying to figure out what to do. He goes, "just go in and have the other person bring it back out for the third guy to use!" Nothing like security trying to find ways to screw Expo out of $$$! I guess we could have just entered through the side door like everyone else was doing...
The American Pinball seminar was the best, but then again I'm biased since my brother was one of the speakers.
Overall I was impressed with the new and improved vendor hall, choice of games in the free play room (Apollo 13 was actually turned on this year!!), and general vibe of the weekend. I'll definitely be going back next year (JJP #5 announcement? Toy Story?)
Apollo 13 was not fully working.
How do I get on the list to meet some of you guys next year! Sounds like there was as more fun away from the game room.

No one messes with the King and Queen....
If your looking to hang with the cool kids... we were all playing pinball. Next year look for the big, (I’m talking big) and tall (6’4” in socks) dude wearing tie dye or an Az Pinball Players League t shirt and say “Hey, Bublehead, when you taking a break?” and we can hang out. We love traveling room parties. We got lucky this year since my wife travels a lot for work, her Marriot Rewards membership got us a free upgrade to the 16th floor. Great view, but certainly not the heartbeat of the action like down with @gryszzz. Matter of fact, I spent most of my time down in Fej’s room on 6. Had an Effing awesome Expo... Can’t wait for next year.
Quoted from Bublehead:I came home sick... not from smoke, but from some pathalogical vector... something is going round... wife caght it from me. More cold... not flu
Gosh I miss george Carlin, what a viewpoint he had "I swam in RAW sewage, ya know.. to cool off"
I read a lot of news, and they keep talking about how penicillin (the wonder drug from the 30's) is starting to be less effective against the most basic viruses.
Quoted from toyotaboy:I read a lot of news, and they keep talking about how penicillin (the wonder drug from the 30's) is starting to be less effective against the most basic viruses.
I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure penicillin has never had any affect on ANY viruses.
This year's Expo blew away last years, mainly cause of that vendor hall.
Highlights:
I got to play Kingpin first time ever. I enjoyed it. Wonder if they'll be available in any reasonable time.
Oktoberfest is a winner under the glass. That display is sad though. I only got to play it one time, but I could tell it was a fun game. Wanted to play more.
Seeing Archer up close in person and comparing it to IMDN was cool. Interesting to see how it transformed.
Played production JJP Pirates, didn't do much for me. I think this thing is a dud at those prices.
MBr for $6k, damn that is gonna be tuff to beat. Also nice to hear AFM is $6k now. I played the Special edition a few times, it played nice.
Quoted from Gryszzz:Well the smokers lounge is right next to the front door, so every time the doors opened the smoke funneled in. Also, it was 104 mph winds on Sat. Most people aren't hangin out at the registration desk all night though. I'm out there A LOT so sorry if it bothered ya.
I missed the old door guys too. They were a highlight for me.
There were a few times that ranked heavily of smoke. Yeah that wind was a bit drastic at time
Quoted from Gryszzz:I saw the 13 ball multiball. Overrated, but fun to watch.
Got it once, flippers barely pushed all that steel.
Quoted from chad:There were a few times that ranked heavily of smoke. Yeah that wind was a bit drastic at time
As far as smokers go, I'm ranked NUMBER ONE. Take that Levi.
Quoted from Gryszzz:I saw the 13 ball multiball. Overrated, but fun to watch.
Two guys walked around the corner right as I hit it, was that You? Overrated yes but still fun.
Quoted from chuckwurt:How do you do that? I have a friend with alien Star we need to get it on free play for Pincinnati. Thanks.
Check out the Pinrepair facebook page. there's a picture of this modification on a post there (black hole).

Quoted from Sarge:I was bummed there was no ROBOTRON!
I'm terrible at it, but by far my favorite game.
Vids are how ALOT of us got roped in to pinball, so I love seeing them there.
That SEGA missle command was SUPER COOL!
THANKS to those who brought games!
Next time I will bring one
As the co-founder with Rob Berk of the Pinball Expo 34 years ago, I attended my first Expo since 1986 last month. In some ways, it was like seeing, for the first time in decades, a child that I had given up for adoption decades ago. I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. The show has grown in ways that I never could have imagined years ago. I couldn't believe the enthusiasm that I saw from attendees. It was heartwarming to see players lined up and waiting patiently (or sometimes not so patiently) to play the newest pins. I'd read about the tension that was in the air during the last few Expos, but it certainly seemed like everyone was having a great time at this show -- at least everyone that I saw was having a great time. I'd like to publicly commend Rob Berk for giving the show a fresh start. When we envisioned the idea of a pinball "convention" back in 1984, Rob and I had thought that we were looking at a one-time show. We tried to pull out all the stops for that first show, primarily because we never expected a follow-up show to materialize. We weren't sure how many people would even show up to support the Expo. But here we are, 34 Expos later, with a living and breathing show, one that has added video and arcade games to the offerings and dropped the banquet (among numerous other changes) in response to the evolving tastes and demands of attendees. No, the Pinball Expo is not the same show that Rob and I created all those years ago. But I, for one, was very impressed with this new Expo "reboot," and I'm proud, very proud, to have been there with Rob at the inception of the first Pinball Expo. Bill Kurtz (co-founder of the Pinball Expo, and author of Pinball The Lure of the Silver Ball, Slot Machines & Coin-Op Games, Arcade Treasures, and The Encyclopedia of Arcade Video Games)
Wow. Awesome of you to chime in Bill. This is my 5th year and i don't plan on missing any anytime soon.
IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!
I would just like to take a moment to follow-up and thank everyone at Expo who headed over to Superdawg with one of the fundraising flyers. I heard back and here are the numbers. 41 customers spent $821.81, so their 20% contribution (rounded up) was $175 for JDRF through Team G. Thanks again!

Thanks, Brad! Now we need to make sure EVERYONE knows about this next year.
The 2019 show will be at the same place as 2018, according to Rob Berk.
.................David Marston
If berk took over the expo contract from Pacak, then they are obligated to have the expo at the westin for 2019.
Quoted from Fortytwo:Man I didn’t even see Lloyd at expo. Though I was there by my game most the weekend.
I'm sorry I missed you. Bad thing about Expo is you can't do everything and see everybody.
I think your game was in a room I didn't even get into.

I thought I was watching an episode of Hoarders... i never thought I would ever see where Mike lived, or that what he brought to Expo every year was merely a fraction of a sliver of the stuff from “in the house”. I bought my Family Guy from him in 2008 after the Expo. He gave me a good deal.
mike should have an "estate sale". I'm guessing that he would do well given the number of people in pinball and arcade games alone
Mike made out on that EK main cabinet/playfield for a hundred bucks. Don't tell the pickers it's the worthless "Professional home model".
All in all, a great way for Mike to turn garbage into dollars. It should help his legal bills fighting Jerk. I mean Berk.

Not much different there from a few years ago.

Ha! I'm kinda glad they didn't find it; that game is probably better used as a coffee table.
