Lonnie, Sorry if it came off that I was thinking you act that way, I was not. I am not sure if we have met, and I wouldn't make that assumption on you. What I was saying is that I figure that he (your father) would have no problem yelling at you if he will yell at strangers/friends.
I wish you the best of luck on the freeplay hall, and my friends and I will be bringing several machines for it. So regardless if Mike yells or not, ill still support the show, I have learned to just deal with him

No problem and you are correct... He has no issues yelling at me either. I handle it quite differently though. I shall do the best that I can to insulate you all from what we like to refer to as "Mike Moments." I am a fair and logical person. I treat everyone with the same respect that is shown towards me. So with that being said, if you come at me like an asshole with attitude, you're most likely going to get it back. Mike included However, I promise I won't be yelling at you. You'll probably get a dose of my sarcasm or most likely be ignored.

It's too bad Spooky and TNA won't be at Expo. Most people attending Expo will not make it to PBL and will not get to experience playing this pin. Seems like it would have been great exposure to those that hadn't played it before to have a hands on experience and potentially put down a deposit. I hope that a vendor brings one at least.

This is disappointing, T.N.A. has been at the last couple shows and was Whitewood last year at the show. So I have cash in hand was hoping to put in a deposit on it to someone! I just wanted to see it in person, Pinball Life event I cant get off of work for this year. Not likely Spooky will care if they lose 1 customer, ill wait for the next Remake from Chicago Gaming to take my cash.

You can come play mine as soon as I have it. It will be going on route at Alt Brew (1808 Wright St in madison, WI)

Let me know when you want to come up and I'll play a few games with you, on the house.

Nope, Mark is out this year. In fact all the custom guys are taking a big pass on Expo in favour of TPF and other shows.

Does anyone know if you can buy Stern accessories at the Stern factory after the tour?

    Quoted from docquest:

Does anyone know if you can buy Stern accessories at the Stern factory after the tour?

Yes. In past tours the parts department had a (cash only) customer sales window open. Primarily selling swag, but "Stern Store" toppers and stuff were also available for sale.

The Vendor Hall will be open on:
    Thursday at 6PM until Midnight
    Friday from 10AM until Midnight
Saturday from 10 AM until Midnight as well Sunday Morning.
The vendor hall will remain OPEN during seminars, banquet, and tournaments, but will NOT be open over night.

Tough hours for a one-man-operation. I'm out again... I so want to set up at the show one year but I don't see how I could cover all that time.

Contact Mike and see if you could get a booth, but only man it X amount of hours each day instead of all the hours.

I have to agree as to the vendor hours being way to long. Vendor hall has no need to be open late in the evening. Let the vendors actually enjoy the show as well. Hours 10-5, break for dinner, re-open 7-10 should be adequate.

It's a whole lot easier to close a booth when the entire show closes (or the vendor area closes) because you know access will be limited. If you leave while the rest of the event is up and running you really need to take everything with you that you don't want to lose. My products are small so it's easy to carry, but packing up would be somewhere between "noticeable" and "disruptive". And I already know the show doesn't like the idea because last year I unsuccessfully proposed to pack out during the banquet on Saturday and skip the late-night hours. Not complaining; they likely just thought it would be closer to "disruptive" than "noticeable". While I didn't like it, I can certainly understand the concern of a chaos created by a dozen independent vendors "doing their own thing".

I did contact the show about advertising in the program this year but never heard back so that's not happening either.

This is exactly what made my experience at Pintastic so enjoyable in 2016 - the vendor hall hours were significantly shorter than the free-play hall hours. There's nothing wrong with copying best practices...

I've never been to Expo, but as chance would have it, I'm going to be about an hour away for work that week.

Am I correct to understand that I can purchase a one-day pass for $30 and be allowed into the free play area? It looks like it's open from 6pm to 6am, so once I got done with my meetings, I could swing in for a few hours.

Yeah, I was a one-man operation and it was tough, and I got yelled at by Mike for my booth being unmanned. Not really a great environment for small timers.

    #75 2 years ago

ColorDMD will be at Expo this year and we intend to preview at least one new title there!

Like last year, I'll be travelling alone. I will be bringing preorders to the show (free delivery for pickup) but will not have additional displays for sale at the booth. If you'd like to pick one up there, preorders must be placed on our site by Thursday, Oct 5 to have time to ship them to the show.

If you're thinking about bringing a game, please contact us for info on additional discounts for exhibiting a display at the show. Would like to help get as many additional games to the show as possible!

so, suggestion for mike, look at partnering smaller vendors in neighboring booths, they can then coordinate break times so their peer can keep an eye on things, since it seems theft is a concern for these one person operations. Maybe they can't sell the wares of their neighbor, but they can help keep things safe and can at least tell attendees when the vendor is expected to be back. Obviously vendors would need to be comfortable with each other, but worth a try vs losing small vendors like Rob and Jeremy.

well one problem is unlike most shows all the new games are generally in the vendor hall and people want to play them at night. Everyone previous years including vendors want Vendor hall open during banquet.. as well as during seminars SO what is solution ?? Unfortunatly expo has had LONG hours unlike and other show and open 25 hours to play games SO WHAT IS THE ANSWER?? help me Yes vendor hours are too long BUT having all the new games in that room makes that happen Putting them all together would create too much congestion I do listen just dont know the answer And as far as the boutique games i believe their website says they are having some issues with their system that is what i was told

    #80 2 years ago

Are you able to put dividers in the vendor hall. Maybe you could block off areas.

1 area for vendors with games for play and that also want to be open for most sales. 1 area with reduced hours to allow for smaller vendors to participate.

    Quoted from mikepin:

Spooky has never been an official vendor at expo Someone has always brought their games I hope someone does Yes its a shame Spooky does not feel its to their benfit

If by "someone" you mean us then yes, "someone" has brought our games to your show every year for the last 5 years. We've had a booth, shared a booth, put games in others booths, and given seminars at Expo every year for the better part of the last decade.

    #82 2 years ago
    Quoted from mikepin:

And as far as the boutique games i believe their website says they are having some issues with their system that is what i was told

the various 'boutique' or 'custom' games, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Wrath of Olympus, Casino, Kugler Family, Deadpin, Doom, TNA (pre Spooky) that have been there the last few years, are normally hosted in the Multimorphic booth, since they use their P-roc system, no Multimorphic booth, no P-roc games. Nightmare before Christmas, which I was really hoping to see, uses FAST, and my understanding they are also not having a booth this year.

    Wow! Nice.

The reason Multimorphic and the PROC custom games won't be at Expo is because when you were finished yelling at the owner of the company at the top of your lungs last year, he very professionally told you he wouldn't be back. He's kept his word, as have many others.

I don't understand what the big deal is if vendor's aren't operating their booths the ENTIRE time. Don't they have to pay to have floor space anyway? If their business can justify them not having to operate their booth the entire time then so be it. Signage notifying people when they will be operating seems like enough for me to know when I should stop by if I want to buy something. Don't get me wrong, I love that the vendor hall has many hours available, but I for one don't expect every vendor to be there every stinking minute of the show.

    #85 2 years ago
    Quoted from cards25:

Where and when do we find you for pick-up? What confirmation do you need for me to pick up my order?

Will have a booth in the vendor hall and will also provide contact information to reach me at the show. Any type of ID is fine for pickup.

    #86 2 years ago

Thank You!!! Order placed. See you at the show......

    #87 2 years ago

Ya don't get the problem with a vendor simply putting a sheet over their booth when not around. Been to other non-pinball shows and this works for them...

Mike, stay calm. Thank vendors, volunteers, and people who bring games for continuing to support your show. This is the main thing that's been missing from Expo relative to other shows.

If a vendor isn't in their booth the entire time or close early, it's not going to affect attendance next year. If they stop coming (and it seems a lot have), it might.

All systems are good to go in the FAST camp, we just couldn’t make it this year. I am buying a new house and moving. Dave is recovering from a boat injury and we both decided we needed to catch our breath. We are bummed not to be making the trip as we have been there each year since we started this pinball adventure.

For anyone on the west coast, we will be making a quick trip the Portland Retro Gaming Expo in a few weeks (to drink beer with Ben Heck!). We will be also holding a pinball maker meetup in November/December with the date TBA.

I hope everyone has a great time at Expo and goes to Pinball Life to buy stuff and play Total Nuclear Annihilation!

I highly agree with this. This is the right thing to do, but I do not see Mike making the effort to do so. He is very harsh to people that do not deserve it. This happens over and over again. He does not look like he will change his ways. If he wants Expo to survive, he needs to hand it over to his son Lonnie, who actually is appreciative of the people that make the show function. This includes vendors, volunteers, game bringers, attendees, etc.

The lies also need to stop Mike. Multimorphic and FAST pinball will not be attending this year not due to "control system" issues like you made up. That is highly disrespectful and slanderous.

I would love for Expo to be one of the great shows again like it was, but changes need to happen. Mike, show some damn respect and quit being ungrateful.
