Just got a new pin - No Good Gofers. Tremendous fun, brought it to man cave. Just in time for league night hosting on Saturday. Was just resettling the DMD and BG into place when -

Explosion!!

I'm sitting there with empty hands and a BG in a billion pieces. Never dropped it. It just imploded. Exploded....disintegrated.

F@#kin hobby...lol....

Anybody do a repro or might have NOS or used BG for NGG? Thanks....

damn. got to love incandescent bulbs and how they make plastic brittle. try ebay for one maybe? that sucks though

#4 9 years ago

Wow, sorry that happened. Is NGG an actual backglass, and not a glass with translite?

There's no plastic there. NGG uses a real backglass.

I've never had a backglass explode in my hands but did have a playfield glass explode wile just holding it. Unfortunately I was right in front of the game when it exploded and small pieces of glass ended up everywhere inside the game.

That's a real bummer dude, you are right about this hobby, it can suck at times no doubt. Time for a drink! Good luck!

#7 9 years ago

Amazing how it ended up in almost a perfect square on top of the playfield glass.

#8 9 years ago

It's my understanding that static electricity can make tempered glass do that.

#9 9 years ago

One of the few times you would wish it was a translite. Good luck with the search!

You got that right.I didn t know NGG used a reak backglass.

He wishes, read again. He prolly slid the glass to keep it safe until he deals with the cleanup.

I know, I was glad they used a real BG, until it broke in a million pieces. James from Pinball Inc said it was static electricity too. It was beautiful too...gorgeous.

At least it doesn't affect game play. Nothing related to game on BG at all....

You can't fix this pinball machine Spicoli....

#17 9 years ago

Damn.... That blows! I hope tons of good-pin-karma comes your way!~SpOoKy

Just look at it like a really challenging jigsaw puzzle.

Or put it on ebay as a NGG backglass jigsaw puzzle.

#19 9 years ago

Just insert one of those other BG's on the wall.

#20 9 years ago

I had one explode like that. SUCKS!

Relax! I can fix it.

my dads a tv repair man, he has an awesome set of tools.

#23 9 years ago

This can happen if tempered glass is cold and your hands are warm.
The warmth from your hands will expand the gas inside the glass and POP!!!!
I've seen it happen and had it happen.

thats nutz

Thanks Spooky and thanks to all of you. Love me some Pinside support.

I did buy a back box decal for it from my friend and great seller - Joey from pinball decals. It is smaller but it has identical art and will tape it to the back of another translite. We will see if that works for now..

BTW, if you have not bought from or checked out pinball decals, you should. Really cool mods, especially the instruction cards and decals.

Well, the fit on NGG is unique so none of them fit! But IJ translite is just about the right size...Id love to find another glass though. It was so gorgeous and so much better than a translite.

Yep, been there. Back at my old house, my Police Force imploded all by itself. When I was moving, I was still finding bits of glass a year and a half later. Fact of the matter is that you'll never find all the pieces.
