the movie looks like crap... but hey, it has pinball! so lets see it

    #3 11 years ago

As someone who helped fund this project, I'm kind of surprised I haven't received more updates. Thanks for the link!

    #4 11 years ago

Ouch... it looks to have one and only redeeming feature: there are pinball machines in the movie.

Otherwise it basically looks horrific. The melodramatic look after the surprise kiss is one of several "douche chill" moments I got from watching the short trailer. I definitely won't be able to sit through this movie.

    #5 11 years ago

At least the main girl is kind of hot ...

    #6 11 years ago

    Ooooookay.

    #8 11 years ago

    WTF is this shit?

    #9 11 years ago
    Quoted from jalpert:

    WTF is this shit?

It's an independent film that happens to revolve around the world of pinball.

    #10 11 years ago

I think a trailer should show you what the movie is about. After watching this I know two things, pinball is being played and boy meets girl. Maybe the movie is better than the trailer shows?? Gwem is right though, chick is kinda cute.

    +1 for using "douche chill"

Yeah this looks like something that would never be released in theaters ....I see a few runs on "Showtime Women" in the future.

Was that Jeri Ellsworth playing pinball at the 41 second mark?

If it was, good for her.

The movie on the other hand looks........interesting

    #13 11 years ago

Looks like Jeri Elsworth was in that clip too.

    #14 11 years ago

Oh man Jane W from the GoGo's

I don't know. What was the cost of this $10,000.00?

Not bad for a low budget flick. Wondering if the AFM back glass they broke was the most expensive part of the movie?

    I'd rent it.

    #15 11 years ago

Yes, that was Jeri Elsworth in the shot. She's being used as a pinball "stunt actress".

I'm most excited about the 20 min or so documentary that will be attached to the DVD of this film about my buddy Wade Krause. He's an amazing contributor to the pinball community.

    #16 11 years ago

Sheesh...why didn't they have me direct the film? I'd have the aliens from AFM come down and force the best Earth Pinball Player to play the Alien Pinball Player for ownership of the Earth! The alien Pinball Game is an interactive hologram...yadda, yadda, yadda

Looks like Michael Schiess was in the clip, too (right before Jeri).

    #18 11 years ago

    Pinball.....Donut.....Girl

Just seems to have so much going for it. Just needs beer.
Hopefully it's better than it looks.

    #19 11 years ago

Chill gents, Independant films are low budget.Might be worth a look. And its got Pinball

    #20 11 years ago

    That poor AFM!

    #21 11 years ago

    AFM
    F14
    Pinbot
    MM - Background

That's what i could make out. there was a machine to the left of the MM but I can't identify it.

    #22 11 years ago

I love independent films. Given the target demographic, it's a bit odd that they would make a chick flick about pinball.

Maybe on paper they were going for the whole Jerry McGuire thing which was sports for the guys, romance for the girls.

Hope they got a new translite for AFM.

    #24 11 years ago

I kept waiting for one of them to turn into a vampire at any moment.

    #25 11 years ago

jackofdiamonds wrote a rockin' tune for it called "pinball girl"...

    nice job scotty!

I love (a select few) independent films also. Unfortunately, this looks to have all the melodrama, complete with the cliche girl/boy storyline, of your typically bad hollywood chic flic. The claustrophobic cinematography and mislit scenes which always come with low budget independent films only serve to give them character if they're unique in some other way. I don't believe just adding pinball to a very ordinary story in order to make it unique works for the film or pinball.

Hopefully I'm totally wrong and the movie is amazing. After all, I'm sure I'll buy this and try to watch it! It's pinball after all, and we should try and support it if we can.

    #27 11 years ago

This looks pretty bad. Even the name needs some work, IMO.

    #28 11 years ago

Toyotaboy - what you've just made us witness is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in this trailers rambling, incoherent dialogue were they even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having viewed it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

    #29 11 years ago

    FAIL !!!

Low budget doesn't have to = horrible. I think Robert Rodriguez made El Mariachi for $8000

    #31 11 years ago

anyone that says they will not watch this movie is completely full of it!!!

It has pinball, you will all be watching it.

Heck, how many times have you each watched special when lit?

    #32 11 years ago

The ONLY way to save this movie is to change direction and convert the whole thing over to PORN!

Special When Lit was a well made documentary. This is fictional storytelling and if all we have to go on is this trailer, it might be unwatchable. Hopefully whoever edited the trailer isn't editing the movie.

    Quoted from kwiKimart:

    I expect they did.

It would be very cool if the cast signed the one in the film, and auctioned it off.

    #35 11 years ago
    Quoted from Rarehero:

Special When Lit was a well made mockumentary.

    Fixed that for ya...

    #36 11 years ago

It can't possibly be worse than "Pick-Up Summer". That may very well be the worst film I have ever sat through. If it wasn't about pinball, I probably would have turned it off at about the three minute mark.

    #37 11 years ago

And the Academy Award goes to............Pinball Donut Girl. WTF?

    #38 11 years ago
    Quoted from Frax:

    Fixed that for ya...

Nope, it was real. I've met Sam Harvey...he's really really real. lol

Sure, Special When Lit shows some ...."Special" people...they exist in this hobby, it's fair game to show them. The movie shows a TON about pinball, its history, its collectors, its tournament players. It's more than fair and very even - some of you guys make it seem like it's the entire focus of the film...it's not. They could have easily made an entire "brutal" movie...

    #39 11 years ago

Can't be worse than Tommy and THAT won an academy award.

    #40 11 years ago

    Tommy is a masterpiece!

    Pinball Donut Girl??? WTF?

    #41 11 years ago

Lol what a name for a film.... Looks bad but I guess I am still going to watch it... There better be some live/drop catches otherwise she can beat it.

    #42 11 years ago

I should set up a tip jar at work for "send me to PAPA" like in the trailer.

    #43 11 years ago
    Quoted from jalpert:

    WTF is this shit?

    My thoughts exactly.

    #44 11 years ago

Soooo I guess I'm the only one that liked the trailer? I'd say for a microscopic budget, independent film it looks decent. It will go straight to video but I'll buy it.

I thought they did a good job for a B movie. seems more of a chick flick though.

Man i loath Jeri BOOOO. Best pin related film ever was TILT. I will add this to my never gonna watch. Its right up there with Avatar Titanic and Napoleon Dynamite.

    #47 11 years ago

    Napoleon Dynamite was Awesome!
I hope she has mad skills.

    #48 11 years ago

I like indie films. It looks interesting. I hope to see it.

    #49 11 years ago

The actress is cute. Got kinda an Emma Stone thing going on.

    Quoted from SealClubber:

ND is one of my favorites as well.

I'll wait for the awfull reviews, then decline to watch it with a clear conscience. I like boobies more than pinball, but that doesn't mean I'll watch just any ol' crappy film that showcases them.
