Pinball Done Quick's second year at AGDQ starts January 3rd, 2016!
For those that are unfamiliar with AGDQ (Awesome Games Done Quickly), it is a videogame speedrunning charity event for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Last year the weeklong event raised over $1.5 *million* dollars!
Pinball Done Quick hosts a similar speedrunning format, albeit for pinball instead of videogames. This year it will be the official side stream of AGDQ, featuring ONLY pinball for a week straight!
Like with AGDQ, Pinball Done Quick (PDQ) is about timing an attempt on a game to reach an objective, such as the wizard mode or super jackpot, in the fastest time humanly possible. In order to make it accessible to all, the rules include:
1) Setting the game to factory defaults.
2) Setting a fair tilt.
3) Starting the timer when the ball leaves the shooter lane, or is plunged.
4) Stopping the timer when at a certain event on the DMD.
The event runs 24 hours a day starting January 3rd and ending on January 10th. We will be joined by several competitive players and Twitch streamers, including Jack Danger of Dead Flip, world-class competitive player Steven Bowden, Chris Newsom, Drew Cedolia, and several more! Be sure to track this thread for updated records throughout the event, and feel free to post with any questions or comments.

About Speedrunning:
Speed-running is part of a competitive gaming evolution that originally credited a player’s “win” with the reward of initials on a game’s scoreboard at the local arcade. With the development of the console, games transitioned from leaderboard objectives to game completion and gamers were left with the challenge of identifying a new way to compare their performance on their favorite games. Speed-running provided the solution.
The general goal of a speed-run is to complete a game in part or in its entirety with the fastest time possible. Timing a game for fastest completion successfully blends the traditional goal of “best” score with the newer objective of finishing the game making game competitions challenging and measurable amongst competitors.
Pinball Done Quick is a community effort.
