    Nice list.

Special When Lit is available for streaming on Hulu. I've watched it twice... some interesting characters for sure.

    #3 12 years ago

Seems fairly complete to me. It's not a documentary, but it's a REALLY cool stop motion film that Rob Craig put together. Did you ever seen this?

    #4 12 years ago

I love 'Tilt' - I watch it all the time. The extras on disc 2 are really good to.
I also really like pinball 101. The others weren't as impressive to me, but worth a watch.

I think you got em all on your radar, can't think of anything else.

    #5 12 years ago

This month's Gameroom Junkies had a great section on pinball-related movies and documentaries. Many are listed above, but they also rated them and talked about each one so you can get a feel for which each one is about before pursuing a purchase.

Ball Saved. All I've been able to find are short 3 min clips of this, supposedly this is a feature length doc? Anyone know?

There are also a bunch of links to videos in the History Buffs sticky up top...

    #8 12 years ago

great list. i own special when lit and pinball 101. great lil flicks.

    #9 12 years ago

I like "Life After Death 3: Warehouse Raid" by the Silverball Podcast guys...It's cool to see them dig these games out, then start them up to see what issues they had...

    #10 12 years ago

i have pinball passion and tilt. both good films. i have watched special when lit several times on hulu. also a good film. i still think that the best pinball documentary has yet to be made.
i hope it will be made soon.long live the silver ball!

    #11 12 years ago

I own TILT, Pinball Passion, and Special when Lit. All worth watching, pinball passion is the most amateur but probably tells the best overall story of pinball. Tilt is the slickest and most polished, as well as the best documentary of the bunch. And Special When Lit is all over the place, no real cohesiveness, but has lots of great stuff sprinkled throughout and has the most range of the three.

Support pinball and watch them all!

I agree. Special when Lit covered some great material on pinball, but with only 90 minutes, it just seemed to be too rushed through the entire film.

Wow! what a nice post! Thank you! Pinball 101 is awesome!

I just watched Special When Lit today and I was left wondering if it was done by the same studio that brought us "Dinner for Schmucks."

I made one as part of a college project, it got me an A so I was happy

Love those videos, still watch them. Showed me how to do so many things and they are still pretty funny. Still in love with Candy after all these years. What ever happened to her?!?!?!?!?

The pinball collector, find it, watch it.

    Streaming available for this one?

    #35 7 years ago

Not really a documentary, but I made this video with some nice shots of Gottlieb machines inside and out. It's not exactly breaking the internet but I think it's pretty cool.

    #36 7 years ago

What a cool video! The editing was very nicely done, and so well synchronized to the song.

I especially liked the relay movement and pop bumper lighting in track with the guitar parts, and the bonus ladder climb with the vocals. The sweep down to the basement shot was also a great ending.

Congratulations on a very nice piece of work!

I was interviewed by the AMC crew on Saturday afternoon at the last Expo. Producer suggested the lines he wanted me to say, mostly stuff on the 'resurgence of pinball', but I tried to add my own spin. Hope I make it into the documentary!

Yep they filmed me with my Trilogy game on saturday also . The producer asked questions about the game so some of it was just me talking about the game but there was a few more scripted lines he wanted me to say . Some of it I'm sure was just to simplify my responses and give more information in shorter sentences and make some of the comments stated in a manner that would be more interesting to the veiwer .He had asked a girl to come and play the game , I think she did pretty good with the lines he wanted her say ,played pretty good too . Should be interesting to see how it comes out .

Wizard mode was very underwhelming and borderline boring in my opinion. I don't understand why they didn't play up the finals where he won the championship and show more of the competition. Be prepared to fast forward through 15 minutes of a discussion on hugging. This should have been marketed as a documentary on autism that just happened to show a few minutes of pinball now and again, maybe it was, but I thought there would be much more pinball in this since the title is Wizard mode.

    #47 7 years ago

...and that TFTC in the tournament had a FILTHY playfield. How could a dirty game like that be allowed without a courtesy wipe down?

I don't think they were at the championship when he won, they were probably putting the documentary together when they heard about him doing well and ran to grab what footage they could. I do agree that they could have edited it better to build up to the victory instead of tacking it on at the end.

If you listen to the podcast where they had him on, the group filming ran out of money or something, so they weren't able to be at the finals. So it was just whatever they had at that point.

If you are looking for a doc on "pinball" then it isn't the movie for you.....this was more about Robert, not just pinball.....I think all the finals now are filmed on twitch? or their channel so you can rewatch via papa or youtube.

Luckily the doc on spooky pinball should be coming soon.
