I joined the club today. Got to play about 10 games before my alien head motor smoked itself. Ball launcher power got really weak, not making the ramp. Then both right flippers went out. I tried rebooting and still got nothing from those coils.

I turned it off to hunt for fuses, didn’t find anything wrong. Lowered the pf, rebooted again, ball popped out of the trough, but still couldn’t make it up the ramp. I tested the flippers, which flipped a couple times. Then smoke started pouring out of the alien head. Wtf.

I don’t know what firmware is installed but it was running Rev. 2.6 for the code. Already losing sleep over this. Jeez.

Looks like I’m not the only person this has happened to but I’m not seeing what the solution was? Am I missing how to read this help portal?

Oops I didn’t press send on my reply earlier and found it as a draft here…

My game smoked the IO board but within hours I got a response from PB tech support that a replacement is being tested and mailed to me tomorrow. Truly awesome support so far, as per the reputation.

Yes but thank god it’s not a Stern or JJP where support would be nonexistent and I’d have to buy a several hundred dollar node board that may or may not even be available.

I'd asked tech support about the brackets because my Xeno's lower jaw had scraped against the targets below a bit. This is a fix that was recommended. I haven't tried it yet but I will.

Yes, open a ticket. My game had a board failure and a replacement was in my hands 3 days later. Top notch customer service!

Also VERY interested. That shot specifically is my biggest gripe with the game. It's really hard to hit and, when I do, most of the time it doesn't register.

I decided to play "one more game" at lunch today. Had to blow off a meeting because whoops, what a game. That f'ing hypersleep lock ramp is too hard to hit! If I could've gotten it more than once... ALL OUT WAR!

Got Ambush & Sentry three times each. I think I screwed myself out of a Hypersleep collect weapon use by hitting the start button too fast trying to start Ambush before a ball drained.

Definitely have a love/hate with this game. It's a ball buster.

I had a couple binding parts from their metal on metal designs. A very light coat of carnauba wax where the metal parts slide against each other helped me fix my drops and my hypersleep lock.

Quoted from delt31:

the behind the alien mode start

What?

#11185 1 year ago

Tighten the screws on the switches. Mine has scrapes too because the targets move around as the screws loosen on the switch stack. Use blue loctite if you haven’t done that fix yet.

#11214 1 year ago

It doesn’t start a mode though. At least not on my game.

For all the complaints about the hypersleep lock… I couldn’t hit it at stock strength so I cranked the flipper power way up to +25% thinking that would be better. Still couldn’t hit it often at all.

I recently turned it down to +10% power and I now hit it all the time. I guess the overpowering made it rattle when it hit. So play with your strength settings until you find it.

Here are the Lifecycle shots in order of sequence. You only need to hit one of the shots if two or more arrows are present:

I’m an SV owner too. It is what it is. I bought my 75” LG tv for like $1200 a few years ago. Last week I went into Costco and they had 86” LG tvs for $900. Should I be mad at LG?

I’m assuming they’re out on holiday time, but anyone had a response for a ticket this week? All my right side coils died on Xmas Eve. I did a fix posted by kciaccio

Quoted from kciaccio:

Well, the right side coils all going out got solved by doing a quick wire jump per Pinball Brothers instruction.
So if you ever lose all the right side coils you might want to try this.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8mtwn6vypl2dfx0/Controller%20special%20cable.mp4?dl=0

I saw another post by Crispin but didn’t fully follow the fix. Looks like my controller box rev already transistor omitted that originally failed on @kciaccio’s game. (i.e. it looks like the ones in the post I’m quoting below…)

Quoted from Crispin:

Hi Pinmeister, if you open up a ticket there customer support is fantastic. I was emailing them 10am-11am eastern and was getting responses back in 5 MINUTES! If I email Stern and ask a question I have to wait until 4:50pm until they respond. I have had the game since spring and never had an issue. A couple of weeks ago I turned the game on and all the right side coils seemed to be operating at 50%. The ball barely coughed up to the shooter lane but the coil to fire it on the playfield couldn't make it up the wireform. I removed the glass to test the game with the ball in play and realized instantly that all right side coils were weak. I turned them up 30 to 40% and played a few games. The next day I turned her on and had the same thing happen even though I had adjusted them in settings. I opened a ticket and jumped in the car to go to work. 5 minutes later I get a response. I was asked if I was comfortable soldering and when I replied yes he sent me 2 pics of the pc control board 0092 in the bottom of the control box. Once you remove all the connectors and remove the box from underside of the playfield, open the top of the box and disconnect the 4 interconnects. In the box on the bottom is the 0092 board.
I was asked to remove the 2 transistors circled and jumper them and then remove the board from the box and on the underside add a jumper wire to a cap. Here are the 2 pics I was sent. Once I made these alterations the coils all fired sufficiently. I dialed all back to normal except for the left flipper which I catch the ball on from the overpowered scoop. Please don't follow my advice though and open a ticket yourself to confirm. Good luck!![quoted image][quoted image]
I should have stated I couldn't get the transistors off with the soldering iron. I clipped the legs off of both then crushed the black body of the transistor until all that is left is the base. I then soldered the pins across both. Here's a pic of what I ended up with. Works great now but wont win any awards for presentation.[quoted image]
