Quoted from Lateralus:I think you "misread" my post. It's totally up to you and I don't care either way. I wasn't offended or anything even close, so not sure about the rainbows and shitting comment that came out of nowhere - I was just saying if you're not 100% on the LV already, then maybe an SV is for you.
I said virtually the same thing as everyone else after me, yet you reacted differently to mine for whatever reason. Which is confusing onto itself, but I think you'll be happy with whatever you choose.
Was just trying to help and I wish you the best of luck in whatever you choose! Happy New Year
Yeah, I probably came off a little too defensively. I had a rough couple of days cleaning up fellow co-workers' dropped balls, and I may have unintentionally taken it out on you. My apologies.
Quoted from bigdaddy07:I've put a lot of mental cycles into this, but I think I may go SV on this instead of the LV. Can someone talk me into the LV? The lit side blades would be cool, but 2k cool? I'm getting the beacons with the apron upgrade, so covered there. Besides, I like the taller versions better.
To me, the art is a toss-up. I think the queen on the backglass looks good, but I also like the darker look of the SV. So there's the alien head side rails...I feel like they are a bit understated. I mean, I like them, but I'm not sure how much of an overall impact they make. It's really down to the 2k, and it's easier for me to pull the trigger on ~9K shipped vs. ~11k shipped. Over 10k still has a slight mental hurdle for me, unless it's just a knock my socks off, gotta have it difference. Sorry for the mental rant, I'm just trying to firm up a decision.
Unless PBros sneaks in a few surprises with lit weapons targets (no lit in SV currently) or other light shows, code gimmicks, etc. for teh LV model, i did not see enough special to warrant the LV purchase for me. There is a great looking mod apron and beacons being made now that looks to be pretty impressive.. that is the ONLY thing that would have swayed me to LV. I have an SV now, all the kinks are worked out and the game plays reliably.

Just wanted to say Happy New Year’s to all you Space Marines and future Space Marines out there!! Rather you are an OG Owner, LV, or SV Owner!!

Happy New Year!
aaEmI26.gifQuoted from Baggerman:FYI Cato is investigating on my machine that the hypersleep ramp is over bent from factory... this may be an issue for a few machines out there. There is a very pronounced, hard, bend at the very start of the ramp that saps ball energy preventing momentum from carrying the ball up the ramp to the chamber. This may be reason for the need to "overdrive" the upper right flipper coil to even have a shot at making the ramp. More to come.
Care package arrived today, included was a new Hypersleep ramp. YEP the original ramp was OVERBENT. New ramp feeds hypersleep buttery smooth. PIA to remove and reinstall, but it is in and functioning as it should from Day 1.
I have 1 remaining item left to address and after the new year will address it. every 5th or 6th time the xeno grabs the ball it refuses to let it go when it retreats into the xeno mouth. Multiball drains, then the pin goes into ball search to find the ball still connected to the xeno tongue. then the game continues as before.. total immersion killer. Hopefully we will address then this machine is fully dialed in.
Good stuff. Cato and Pbros support is on point... items overnighted via DHL from Italy.. crazy.
Feel secure in your purchase folks, Pbros are standing behind the machine.
Quoted from Audioenslaved:So contemplating one of these but I’ve got room for 9 machines so I’m at capacity! I’ve got 5 borgs so the logical choice is one of those. But I enjoy iron man more than WOZ. But woz is a fantastic game. I’m in Australia and the closest game is over 9 hours away… I don’t want to give up a fantastic game for something that’s good. I know it’s a change but again don’t want a down grade.
Alien is a big upgrade on WOZ IMO. Of course, WOZ is one of the least favorite games I've owned (great eye candy, though).
Mikey can’t wait for his LV. Mikey want Alein.
Mikey dropped out of Alien a couple month ago cause Mikey got Godzilla and ran out of room.
BUT Mikey got tired of Turtles and decided to sell that to get Alien LV. Mikey want Alien.

What makes you say it’s a big upgrade over WOZ?

Quoted from Audioenslaved:What makes you say it’s a big upgrade over WOZ?
Most modern games are. I owned a WOZ and am not a fan. Just my opinion, though.
Quoted from Ceemunkey:I think in this case, if you weren't 100% all in on the LV from day 1 (ie, you are a raving, rabid Alien fan), I'd be ecstatic with an SV, it's 2k cheaper and it's a great looking machine - obviously more Alien oriented (in terms of looks) than the LV which is more of an Aliens flavor which may or may not be a plus/minus depending on your preference. There are no playfield or gameplay changes and the features are all purely aesthetic.
I am a rabid fanboy, so was always going to go LV - and looking at the fantastic art, powder, rails, extra lighting I'm more than happy with it. I mentioned before, but a lot of people were disappointed that they didn't increase the screen size like the HWY version, but I think its MUCH better to have a standard size screen with some killer artwork. Also, call me crazy bit I prefer the stubby beacon toppers to the custom ones being produced for the LV too.
Buy a SV so I can come over and play it
Quoted from Utesichiban:Most modern games are. I owned a WOZ and am not a fan. Just my opinion, though.
Not every game is for everyone. There’s a few games in your collection that aren’t for me but not every game is for everyone and that’s the love of variety

Mikey want Alien! Mikey wants badly! Mikey needs to sell turtles
Happy New year - Got my pay in full order on Aliens LV from CT. I'm #36 (I got pushed from 35 due to a count adjustment). Not a big deal I assume and I'm not crying about it.
Looks like Aliens will arrive before TBL, even though I paid TBL deposit about 5 months prior.
The home arcade is about to get a major upgrade. My Ghostbusters Prem is a great game but I'm quite tired of it. Not selling it tho, as I want to see what my perfect trio of film themed games will look like together. Can't fuggin' wait.

When did you put in your original order?
Quoted from lowbeau67:Went to pincinnatti with the idea of playing Halloween
to make sure it was a game worth selling some of my older
games to get in on.
The Halloween was a beautiful pin
but there also were 2 Aliens.
Absolutely loved the the look of Alien and the wanting to keep
hitting start button feeling.
Deposit made 20 mins ago. I'm in. Super excited.
Now gonna read entire thread. Hahaha I'm on page 10.
Just finished on page 99
Feel like I know several posters
rather well and their personalities! Lol
The wait begins.. Showed
my grandson a pic of the beast.
He got quite excited.
Told him gpa had one coming in
later this year.
Will be a fun wait.

Why do you wake up everyday and just downvote everyone's posts? Are you that miserable and that somehow makes you feel better? That's really weird.
Good thing this community has you around.

Wonder if we'll get any news this week on the second SV boat that was supposed to have landed a couple of weeks ago.

I’ve been told some of those games already went out and I still haven’t been contacted. Let me know if you hear anything.

WTF…. Any adults in here?
Seriously considering the LV version from cointaker. Is there any chance it could arrive in 1st half of '22 or are we looking at 1 year from now?

Some folks already have invoices… so shipping will start soon i would imagine..

Judge by those waiting of the last SVs before the price hike.
And logistics for supply chains are getting faster...

I agree, who tattletales it to a moderator. A lot of tattletales/children on pinside. Some nerds get off on it I guess, no access to porn? Like WTF.

Yeah, didn't seem worthy of moderation but what do I know.
anyone else notice the back art on LV is diff than SE? I just noticed this - maybe late to the party! LV has a different back art all together (looks cool) and the original SE back art is now on the right inner side panel along with an extension of the universe feel. Left side art seems like all universe horizon (not as much of a fan). I didn't see any of the OG Alien side art carried forward (I believe it was alien eggs, which was very cool too).

I see that. I wish the PB photos had some detailed shots of the lit side panels. You can tell their lit, but it's difficult to tell what the art looks like. The back panel looks like a ship corridor view. I dig that, but I also liked the space navigator the SV has.

space navigator is now on the right side art for LV. I liked that too and they kept it.

Yep one of the LV features listed is "New lit up playfield backboard art"
Alien LV Feature List (resized).pngNoticed a cracked plastic to the right of the left ramp. I would loosen the screws a bit if you haven't already.
I just want to give a shout out to Cato ,I bought a used pb alien sv from a local pinsider,I never check into when it was make or if it was an early example ect.
I sent him some video of the game going into a crazy ball search and a box showed up at my door with
All new boards
New black boxes,no power supply
All new flipper coils with diodes attached
All new cat cables
New green multi wire connectors that connect boards
All new wiring looms
Just about everything under the playfield.
I did say I bought the game used!
If any future buyer is concerned about support, this is my experience.

Cato and PB support are awesome as seen by their actions time and time again.
My game plays fantastic now?
It did take some time to change everything under the playfield but all good!
Thank you so much Cato.
Hey there...does anyone know of a PB Alien that is available to flip in the greater Chicagoland area? (includes Milwaukee area and northern IN). Nothing but a few privately owned ones show up on the pinside map. I've been lurking for awhile now - thanks to all who have posted and kept everyone up to date. I was initially concerned with quality, but seems like less of a concern now, and wow, the PB support seems top shelf as well as the community here so I'm not worried anymore. I just want to flip it first before deciding! Been to a couple of shows in the area recently (Chicago Expo and Midwest) but no Alien there.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts on where to play one....

Ya, mine broke also. That's why I decided to install plastic protectors after Cato sent me a new plastic.

I think Galloping Ghost in Chicago had one. Might be one of the original Heighway versions though.
