Anyone on 3.0 having issues with the hypersleep ball lock not ejecting ball at end of game?
Quoted from DropGems:This is easily the most immersive game
I’ve played. I purposely got the sv because of the pitch black vibe. It was hard to play at first but now im totally used to the dark. It’s just nuts. It’s funny because I hated the game at first. It was set to extra hard and I thought it was the default settings and I was getting killed (I’m good at pinball). No revives, mode timer short af, 2 sec ball saves etc. I was screaming at this game! I even put it up for sale. Then I finally realized it was on extra hard and went back to factory. Now it’s like my fav game. I hated the super lightweight flipper button feel too but now I’m totally used to them.
I agree with you I think I prefer the game without the full led-strip lighted blades, the dark atmosphere is perfect for this game - but I would still suggest to add some spotlights for the PF centre and a trough light - makes the whole thing really *pop*
The apron mod takes care of this. Seriously, if you don't splurge on this mod you are missing out. This is how the game should have shipped from the very beginning.
I played some games and left the game on for around 23 hours then played some more games. No lockups on a SV with 2.8 and .56 fw (I have some older rev boards though).
For my $ I would just get the 3d backglass and make some decals for the apron to make it look a bit more 'traditional'. I agree the apron mod looks great though! I love that 'weapon ready' light!
Quoted from DropGems:Couple things I need to tweak (I’m sure it’s been asked a dozen times) but advice would be appreciated…
Spinner rejects fix?
Pop bumpers not registering enough (to destroy the eggs I gotta shoot them in there like 20 times just to blow 1 up lol)?
1 xeno target is super loose and bouncing around vs the one next to it that is springy?
Thx.
Check that the spinner isn’t getting stuck on the plastic.
This happened on my right spinner. You may need to dremmel the plastic a bit. Others have just bent or fiddled with the spinner to fix.
Quoted from Kkoss24:The Zeno hits sometimes triggers the magnet to fling the ball around ,is it this your talking about ?
No my right xeno target when you touch it moves and is super loose.
Quoted from demandecan55:Is there a consensus on button replacement?
I hate how my buttons don't have any feedback, they are loose and don't feel like any other machine. Outside of that my buttons misfire. I assume the leaf springs are making contact or something. I really don't know enough on how they work, but I will try to figure that out too. I assume separate issues?
I replaced the stock flipper leaf switches with a couple of old WPC ones I had lying around - much better, tighter feel for mine. Feels like normal Bally Williams flippers now which is what I’m used to. The stock switches have much thinner, lighter metal.

Thanks! I just ordered some Stern leaf switches. I will let everyone know how that turns out.
My room is so dark I think I might go pin stadiums with this. It looks great in low to medium light, but no light... I lose the ball. Anyone happy with their pin stadiums on Alien?
Quoted from Lethal_Inc:Does the apron mod incorporate the beacons on top too? If so, when do they come on during the game?
Yes, during multiballs and whenever you are in the mother hole it will flash a bit. Also in an attract mode that the apron has.

Next time you re-tighten the switch, put a small nut on the rear of the metal plate where the end of the bolt pokes through, and the switches will stop loosening on you. I got some replacement switches from PBros and the new ones come with this nut on the back
I got a kick out of the recent for sales thread for a LE alien (HW version). Owner says it’s not gutted like the PB version.
Ha!
I just love the jealousy from these OG owners who are pissed that they miss out on the extras we have like an actual ball lock mech, the extra magnets, the behind the alien mode start, updated code - you know things that matter but hey they got that duplicative screen in the middle and a bigger back box screen! Oh and a machine with no customer service. Sweet.
What a joke.

No none.
Played a 2 player game this evening with a friend, my ball 1 had the background sound cut out and never came back. Player 2s game was fine. Any new code update soon?

Not uncommon. Those aluminium rivets that hold the plastic target aren't great. I've had several of them break off. I ended up replacing one of my broken target rivets with a stainless steel screw and lock nut. I heated up the head of the screw so I could melt the plastic target a bit so the screw became countersunk and matches the front face of the target. Been solid and reliable ever since. Much better than the aluminum rivets.

Im think he's referring to the plastic target itself on the crappy aluminium rivet.

Same has happened to me on 3.0

I have seen that happen once, but only once in the past month. I asked PB about this and they said they really need the logs to troubleshoot this one. So if anyone sees this issue again, please take a log immediately after it happens and open a ticket for it.
Also, for anyone experiencing any crashes, hangs, or resets with 3.0, submitting logs is the way to get these issues resolved. I still have had no crashes, hangs, or resets in over a month with 3.0.

My opto was misaligned. Needed a little adjustment. All is fixed now.

Can you please explain to me how to pull a log? Flash drive needs to be plugged in?

not at this time, no. Nor can you get the shaker.
Does hitting the Alien target cause mostly airballs for anyone else? Also, the right ramp…doesn't always keep the ball. Sometimes it is a launch….

This is one of those issues that happens to me a fair bit - but also happens to me on my PinBot machine so Im used to it

There have been a few suggestions in this thread to keep those airballs down and in the wire ramp - first off for the wire ends closest to the reverso ramp, bend the tines up a bit so there is just enough room for the ball to squeak therough. My personal fix is also to bend the stock 'flat' curve into more of a banked curve. I also put a 1/8" piece of foam at the lip of the ramp to knock balls down. Also ChipScott had the nifty idea to cut a clear plastic that knocks those airballs back down into place

Yeah, I got ‘em. I’m old and have crappy eyes. Pinstadium lights on this work really well.
Does the trough release effect the hypersleep release also ? It was working yesterday then I made adjustments today .I’ll try to go back to factory and see what happens .
Tighten the screws on the switches. Mine has scrapes too because the targets move around as the screws loosen on the switch stack. Use blue loctite if you haven’t done that fix yet.
Quoted from c818919taylor:Anyone get the mouth to quit rubbing the target? [quoted image]
I finally stopped it by doing 2 things. I added another identical metal standup plate/strip to the target to stiffen it up and used a thin round "rat tail" file to file out a bit of the section it scrapes on. I then colored in the file mark and you can't notice it. This was a particularly annoying issue I always had to come back to and keep bending the single metal plate/strip forward after x amount of games.

I tried bending the rails but finally ended up printing a deflector for that.

Oh that's nice!

I had to turn my flipper strength way down from factory settings. Took a bit of messing around with the different adjustments though. There’s three different settings if I remember correctly, flipper power, flipper pull and flipper hold. When I turned down the overall power the “hold” power wasn’t strong enough and the scoop eject would shoot out and drop the left flipper. Just gotta play around with the different settings and find that sweet spot.
Would also recommend getting a sheet of Mylar and slapping some small squares/circles under where the ball drops from the wireforms to the inlanes on each side. Seems like a high wear spot that most machines would come with protective film from the factory.

If there is a 3d file for this, please post.
If the ball enters the scoop from the back/orbit, I think older versions of the code treat it as a normal scoop shot so will start modes (mine does this, as I'm not on the latest version). I believe they may have removed that in later code versions though.

Yea I’m on 3.0. No mode start.
Quoted from DropGems:Yea what does the secret scoop shot do? Is there code for it? Mine doesn’t start modes.
Was changed in Version 2.7
Game Changes:
Fixed spinner only scoring on every other spin.
Increased LED brightness on Hypersleep super jackpots.
Fixed airlock shot being scored on ball entering from back.
Fixed jaw not immediately closing sometimes at end of ball.
Added light shows for Special and Extra Ball.
Quoted from DropGems:Also what extra magnet do we have vs HW? I thought we both have 2 magnets?
HW version did not have the magnet in the chestburster lane or the rear entrance to the scoop.

Didn’t HW have a magnet in the pop bumper area though above where PB chestburster magnet is?

IIRC it was originally designed to have one but it was later removed (prior to production).
So my alien tongue magnet came off again for like the 3rd time this week. I screwed it back in with the sleeve still attached the prior times, should I remove the sleeve to do this? I don’t think I got it to fully tighten as if you over tightened it appeared to have gotten loose again. Any suggestions? Thx!

I think the sleeve is just shrink tubing? Perhaps a drop of blue loctite on the threads when you reattach and a new piece of shrink tube will solve this?
