I know this stuff is cheap, but has anyone ever tried Buffalo Trace? Local grocery store just got a single barrel bottled up just for them. Wondering if its decent?

something to surprise you guys on, I got this at a grocery store that I picked up the buffalo trace single barrel at. It may have been the last one or that may have been the only bottle they got. I am part of a "fight club" for beer at this store. I messaged the lady that runs it asking if they had a certain beer, she said nope but the other one you have been waiting for is there. then she says that they had a bottle left of this. I had no idea what it was but bought it lol. I have not been a bourbon guy but thinking of cracking open that buffalo trace single barrel tonight and give it a whirl. During quarantine, i have been stocking up on liquor for when guest are able to come back around
btw that beer behind it is a scotch barrel aged imperial stout with marshmallows and dark chocolate. should be killer. i always age this beer too. i have some other flavors that are over 4 years old and they are amazing. they do bourbon barrel and rum barrel aged with flavors is their reserve. If the VFW happens this year and you stop by my tailgate, I will be glad to share and show you about this goodness.
boy that was one hell of a description grandnational I was laughing pretty good when I was reading. as for Dragons milk, I have some of the coconut rum barrel left that is 4 years old. never went after the chili but heard it was good, hell no to the curry.
Quoted from Fulltilt:Bullwinkle and bourbon.. doesn't get much better!
Don’t know why that game doesn’t get much love. I love that game
well I have to thank you guys. Started reading this thread and I was not a bourbon guy. So I went and picked up that buffalo trace single barrel and blantons and I dig it. have been having a drink or two then a bourbon barrel beer when playing lately and have enjoyed it. Thanks to another expensive hobby
Quoted from DBLM:Hey, it's my Clutch buddy from the other thread! Clutch and bourbon go very well together. As they are a heavier band, you might need a heavier bourbon. Booker's and Clutch could be a potent mix.
I'll have to see if I can find some!!
so since you fellas are getting me into this, school me on the early times. So far I have only cracked the buffalo trace single barrel and I have been enjoying it. what does early times taste like?
Quoted from PinDeLaPin:Early Times bottled in bond is a liter bottle of 100 proof goodness for only $31 or cheaper if your in Ohio.
how is the taste vs buffalo trace? plus not sure if you knew this but Michigan is windy all the time due to ohio sucks!!! hahaha just kidding Ohioans.
Quoted from ATLPinGuy:Enjoying a buffalo trace on a Thursday... call me simple but this is damn fine stuff. Not overly complex but the flavor profile is spot on. Serious question - How do the achieve the nice spice with such a low rye mash bill. My first time attaching a picture (yes I’m old). Hopefully it works.
Oh and that the pour was bigger than this when I started. I must be confused![quoted image]
Don’t be ashamed. That has been my gateway recently thanks to this thread
ok now school me on this weller stuff. I got a bottle of blantons but haven't opened yet. so is weller expensive?
Quoted from SirScott:I think the best place around is Tippin's Market in Ann Arbor. They usually have several single-barrel picks. They did something like 50+ store picks last year (albeit not all bourbons). You likely won't find OF there (unless you get lucky), but they have a fine selection.
What about that place on Michigan ave in Dearborn. I forget the name but have got some good craft beer there. About a mile east of telegraph
Quoted from SirScott:Are you talking about Merchant's Fine Wine? I haven't been there in years, but yeah, they used to (and probably still do) have a great selection of craft beer.
(I don't really live in Dearborn, even though my profile says that I do. Pinside f*cked that up one day, and I was too annoyed to fix it.)
yeah Merchant's. would think they would have a good bourbon selection too. I know there is a place in Sterling Heights that has a killer selection but I don't feel like driving an hour to see what they have.
Anyone ever had heritage distillery bsb 103? A buddy of mine has some extra bottles and I was thinking of grabbing one
https://cedarridgewhiskey.com/no-clowning-around-slipknots-no-9-whiskey-is-really-good/
A special edition whiskey
a buddy of mine just ordered himself and I a bottle. not sure where he got it from but they would ship to him.
so since I am a rookie to the bourbon game, I want to open one of my two Blantons. Which one should I open first? #1 dumped 6/1/20, barrel 65, rick 35. or #2 dumped 4/14/20 barrel 233, rick 17. both warehouse h. any thoughts if they may be a tad different? does being stored lower or higher make a difference when they are in the barrel?
Quoted from Green-Machine:Anyone know if this is any good?[quoted image]
I'd eat it!!
Quoted from amkoepfer:Yup, thats me! Cant drink at work or id join. I just got this for me and a bottle for bax1
[quoted image]
I'm looking forward to this one!! Finally busted out Blanton's on Friday. damn that stuff is good.
Yeah when I was told bookers I was like oh yeah then oops bakers. Might give uncle nearest a spin. Been enjoying bourbon lately. Got a 4 roses small batch to crack soon
Quoted from DBLM:Bourbon and Clutch go hand in hand. They both will put hair on your chest!
4 roses small batch is awesome!
Hope you caught the last show. Was a good one.
Quoted from PinDeLaPin:I jave the old and the new bottles of the Bakers and I don't like either one. Thr Bakers 13 which is impossible to find is absolutely fantastic though. IMO

Thanks for the feedback on it. I’ll pass on it. This grocery store is what got me the blantons and the Buffalo Trace single barrel. Don’t have to pay inflated prices either!
Can get eagle rare 10 year at the grocery store for 36 I think. Isn’t there a 12 year?
What does weller usually go for?
Just cracked open my 4 roses single barrel. That stuff is nice! Kinda warms ya up on the end. Didn’t take any pics.
Quoted from Jackontherocks:Ok went shopping again and bought more as just pasted by the isle in Costco. Just simples stuff and one new JK Kelly any one got info on it
[quoted image]
What is that ocean stuff?
Quoted from amkoepfer:I dont know about good dude, i was in the area lol. Enjoy kahlyn
Such a dick sometimes lmao
Quoted from Fulltilt:Getting the band together for a new hot sauce batch. Out of the garden today.
I might have a "couple bottles" left over for any other fellow chili heads that might like one.
If you don't like HOT-HOT sauce, this probably isn't for you. (:

Killer looking peppers!!!
Quoted from Fulltilt:Scorpion, habanero, and Thai. The holy trinity.
Looking for "volunteers" to witness a bottle.
I like hot but scorching, man. Different level!!! I’d try it.
Quoted from amkoepfer:I think youll like the slipknot whiskey cow-lynn
I’m sure I will Richard
Quoted from Fulltilt:Shiiaatt... have 3 or 4 and who cares!
Moving onto bourbon barrel beer now
