This is a thread I can get behind. Gin was my go to for a long time. That has recently gone to scotch and bourbon. It's just so much less work to not have to mix with tonic.

I haven't gotten too far into bourbon yet, but when Costco sells a handle of Buffalo Trace for $30 it's hard to branch out. This bottle really should have lasted longer than it has...

New one for me. Let's see how it is.

The glasses actually do make a difference!

And yes, the Basil is delicious

Any of you guys got any tips on finding out where a limited edition bottle will actually be available for sale? My huge liquor store got 7 out of 8 LE bottles, but not the last one. Nobody seems to know anything about it.

    Quoted from Nokoro:

Elija Craig is the best for the money. Very smooth and tasty. Much better than Makers IMO.

I need to try that. My go to lower end is Buffalo Trace. So good.

Just got offered a Pappy 12yr at my local store. Wish I could afford it...

    #352 5 years ago
    Quoted from egyptrus:

I don't know how much pappy goes for on the secondary market but if it's being offered to you at "cost" I'd like to think you could sell it on the secondary market and make a few dollars, if you were so inclined to do so.
Now, if you're passing on it so someone else can buy it at cost then kudos to you sir

If it were being sold at cost, I would have bought it.
He asked for $999, and after a brief negotiation, I walked away empty handed.
He was willing to move, but I wasnt going to be spending 500 either.

Glad I didn't bat an eye walking away at the $100 price point.

    Quoted from sulakd:

So what's Pappy 15 year go for on secondary market now? I have a 2018 Dark Lord Day Handjee (beer, not bourbon) that I've been hoping to trade. I think they go for about $450-500, but not sure if that's same range as Pappy 15 or I should lower my expectations.

Seriously? I guess I should start going to DLD, seeing as how it's around the corner from me.

    Quoted from djreddog:

On the job today installing tablets for their POS. Nice BBQ place with a healthy bourbon selection. That also told me they are having a bourbon tasting with management at 10 to pick a new Buffalo Trace single barrel exclusive and they said I could join in![quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]

Daaaaamn. I didn't think it was possible for a place like that to exist outside of KY.

I prefer all my whiskey chilled. That said, I don't have a problem with whiskey stones. However, my gel filled glasses, meant to be frozen, make for an easier clean up.

I think I need to start whisky and scotch thread.

Sorry guys, the scotch thread is a year old, and I posted a similar picture.

    Quoted from boscokid:

Did a quick accounting tonight bottles vs open bottles with the following results:
19 bottles of bourbon 12 open 7 sealed
11 bottle of scotch 11 open 0 sealed
4 bottles of rye 3 open 1 bottle sealed
everything else(rum, tequila, cognac, gin, Sambuca, Ouzo, Drambuie etc ) 45 bottles opened 11 sealed
TOTAL open 71 out of 90
Can anybody top 71 currently opened bottles at your home bar? Tallying up sure show the shortcomings I have for tequila (only 2 bottles) and gin (only 2 bottles) Will probably have to take care of that this week

    Dont sleep on gin people.
    About half of my empties.

What's a good price for that Blade and Bow? $45 here.

    $30 for 1792 Small Batch
