Thanks for the suggestions. I prefer a milder sipper with a sweet, oaky nose. Not a fan of peat. I go back and forth with casks (sherry casks with Macallan, rum casks with Balvenie Caribbean).
I typically keep higher quality sippers and 'decent' $30 bottles for cocktails (Makers). I bought the Buffalo Trace as a mixer but read good reviews about the spice, nose, etc.
I think you'll really enjoy four Rose's as a mixer. It is so underpriced for its flavor and smoothness. Remember how cheap Weller12 was back when? I dont think 4 roses will get that crazy but I have a case of small batch in attic anyway.
I personally hate peat or smoky anything so remember that when considering my thoughts. I bounce between single malts and bourbon often. If you have not had the chance to try I would recommend Eagle Rare, Wellers, Elijah. Pretty much every bottle mentioned in this thread comes as a good recommendation.
If you want to get into some single malts I recommend sippers like the spot brand. Green, yellow and red spot are all good. I had a green spot finished in some sort of fancy wine cask other day and it was great.
If you ever see a bottle of Pendyern Madeira finish I recommend scooping it up although it is rare to find. - Took me 3 years of asking our local large distributor to get distribution setup.
Love bourbon like these folks but I still dream about Macallan 21 and 24 once a month as well.
