Snagged a bottle of Weller CYPB from the vault today.. They had WLW antique for $119. Already sold out by the time I logged in. All Weller's today and I don't really care for it. But couldn't pass up the CYPB at retail. They had full proof and the 12 yr.I have 3 sealed special reserves and I don't even like the stuff.

George T. Stagg releases for $99. Good luck with that...

Uhhhh what are you talking about

    #3103 4 years ago
    Quoted from Whysnow:

I think we were both talking about Elmer.
Last year it was $40. This year (what little I saw) it was $60.
    Secondary was $90-150
I would agree that it is not worth much over $60

Yes, but around here I'll never find an Elmer for $60 or even $160.

Just picked up antique for $49 today. Ohio is a controlled state thankfully

    #3105 4 years ago

Lowest I’ve seen on OWA out here was $79...store pick. Wasn’t willing to drive in horrendous LA traffic to get there, but would’ve paid that for sure.

    #3106 4 years ago

These prices ok for Blantons? These are AUD so multiply by 0.69.

    It retails for $54.99 US

    #3108 4 years ago

The one and only bottle of Blantons I have seen was $139.00.

    Swillie! Help!
Got this exact Ice ball maker, let it freeze for almost 2 days before I tried it for the first time and the balls looked correct and were crystal clear. Poured some bourbon over a ball, and after a few minutes the ball was “flaking”, and my drink became water logged fairly quickly and I don’t think that’s suppose to be the case. Any tips other than drink faster lol!

Okay, my wife picked up an iceball maker for 1$. Awesome!! So the new iceball was not as pretty as what I am used too but who cares, poured some bourbon on it and away I go... she broke up into pieces. All iceball makers are not the same...

Thought I would post pictures comparing the two...here is the two iceball makers out the freezer...notice the difference in clarity and form...

Who knew there were such large discrepancies in an ice ball mold? I just use the one that came in an EC gift set and never had any problems.

    #3113 4 years ago

I guess I underestimated how difficult it is around here to score one of these bottles.

I got some of that locally a few months back but I dunno, it was fine but lots of cheaper stuff tasted better to me.

It sounds like we need to set up some kind of trading Network on here. People can let other people know what they're looking for or if they have something that they don't want and are willing to trade they could just post a picture of what's for trade and then put like three or four bottles of what they'would accept for it. Might be pretty fun thing to start doing since some bottles are not distributed to certain States but are plentiful in others.

The top one wins, hands down, because it actually works the way needed to make the ice clear. The second maker results in cloudy, caused by the impurities and air bubbles that get pushed to the center of the cube as it freezes. To make clear ice, you need to avoid that. The top one does that by freezing the water from the top, pushing all the air bubbles to the bottom. The trick to clear ice is to take the ice out of the cooler before the cloudy part freezes, or to chip it off afterward. You don't need a fancy mold for that, a Styrofoam cooler box works too and you can make a block of clear ice as long as you don't let it freeze through.

And yes, clear ice makes bourbon taste better so clear ice FTW!

    or no ice

    My preferred method.

    #3119 4 years ago

That Dickel sits on the shelves around here. Even after it won WOTY by alot of people. I live in Central FL. So "fireball" and anything Crown flavored are huge sellers here. For example High West bourye would be a good find in most places but it sits here gathering dust. If it's over $40 bucks it sits for awhile. Most of the "good" stuff I have to order and have it shipped to me.

It looks like this is one product that Aussie's don't pay twice is much as the Americans but Pinball prices we are around double which makes me envious!

Where did you get that black mold?

I have been making clear ice for a while in a cooler in the freezer, but I then cut it into cubes. I don't have a good way for easily making clear spheres, but I would like one.

And for those interested in making clear cubes, see this post:

    https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pinball-and-bourbon/page/8#post-4768387

It only takes an $11 cooler, some water, and 24 hours.

Here’s a cool pick a local bourbon club did. It’s a 1792 full proof that the guys picked out and named it “Rahmifications” after the then mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel who has half of a finger on one hand from an “incident” while he was working at Arby’s as a teenager. I can’t make this shit up. Edit: I’m not a big 1792 guy, but these guys picked a gem.

I have never tasted it. How would you compare to the other Weller collection?

    #3144 4 years ago

No comparison. Its like smoking a lite cigar and then smoking a full bodied one next. It is really good stuff.

I never see it around here. A lot of Antique comes through but never full proof or the 12

    #3146 4 years ago

Ive never seen it on any shelf anywhere. One of the stores I buy from bought a barrel and I bought a couple bottle about 2 or 3 months ago. I traded 1 off and kept one and planned on keeping this one but everytime I walked by it kept staring at me.

I can understand! Can be frustrating. I have a TZ a good measure of trouble shooting when I first bought it. I just yesterday finished putting LEDs on it. Looks like a new game now
