Use your own UPS account and have the box labeled and ready to ship.
I've never had the UPS store ask anything other than, "would you like a receipt?"

    Well, there's that, too...lol

I like to think of Rube Goldberg as an inspiration.

    Happy Thanksgiving guys!

    #2552 4 years ago

Damn its only been 3 days of this week but feels like 5. Time to start the Thanksgiving festivities I think. What are you thankful for.... Why bourbon of course you silly asses!

Got to try some good bourbon today at a place called Dry 85. Really enjoyed the Booker’s 30th Anniversary. I also tried the Michter’s 10 yo, and although it was decent, I did not think it warranted the price.

    Well what did you get?

Just opened it. Super excited to sample it! I did not even know they offered a 12year.

Heading out tonight but plan to make this my turkey day drink.

    Thanks Santa!!!!!

    #2557 4 years ago

Ok. F it. One quick sample before I head out seems fair.

Nice nose with some heat on the front end
Nice mellow front and mid which had a heavy char (nice).

Back end is a solid hug but not over powering and the chat stays with the mouth feel which I enjoy. It has all the knob base characters but a bit more smooth in transition that likely comes from the age.

thanks again Santa. The guests on turkey day will enjoy this also!

    Quoted from PinDeLaPin:

Well this pains me to admit but @Chisox you were right about the weller 12. Definitely didnt live up to the expectations I had for it thats for sure. The weller antique is hands down way better than this bottle. I was so displeased with this bottle that I actually sent their customer service an email stating my unhappiness.[quoted image]

I agree and also did not like the green bottle by them at all, too light and maybe bec it’s wheat more based, just not for me at all.

Now the green bottle I really enjoy and is a solid go to for me. You are correct though that its a wheat based bourbon which I've found people either like it or hate it. Thats why its so hard to suggest bourbons to people cause what I like others may hate.

This single barrel is damn good but I really want some barrel proof. Anyone have a bottle to trade?

Glad you like it, @tkdalumni! I am loving the McKenna I received from you. It looks like you have a great view to enjoy the beverage. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all of the rest of the guys!

I am drinking Makers and watching Predator with my daughter, I contend that it is a Thanksgiving movie because if you survive the Predator, you have a lot to be thankful of! The transfer is in 4K HDR and you would never believe this movie is 30 plus years old. We just put DefInitive Technology speakers in the ceiling for Atmos support as part of the remodel so you hear bullets bouncing around everywhere. This makes me want a real Predator pinball so bad!

Glad you liked it. Like I said in the letter-came very highly recommended. Not usually a knob guy, but I knew you’d love the 12 yr.
    Enjoy.
Of course the guy running the SS knew who had him, so that’s why I’m speaking freely about it.

    Everyone keep yours secret!!!

I got really lucky. The store attendant would hand you one bottle and there was 1 bottle left of the EC18 on the table. There was some girl in front of me in line yapping on the phone to her boyfriend about which one to buy. The attendant got pissed at her and asked me which one I wanted and then handed me the bottle. Was quite amusing because she then said thats the one I wanted and the guy told her next time stay off the phone. Lmao all the way up to the cashier.

Me and the fiancé busted out a murder mystery dinner game tonight called Unsolved Case Files. Had to bust out the Blanton’s, some aged cheese, and the balsamic drizzle!

Ok i'm really becoming a believer in these store barrel picks. Of course the last one I bought was from the same store so maybe the guy just has an amazing fucking pallet I don't know. Did a side by side comparison and not only do they smell different but the store pick was a bit oakier and smoother. All in all they both are yummy but store pick wins hands down.

Well, you've piqued my interest. A local store had some cases of their pick out on the floor yesterday. I didn't grab one, I had already bought a Henry Mckenna Single Barrel earlier in the day. Between their two locations they probably got 100 bottles each so there should be plenty, and I'll get one later in the week.

I will be the 1st to admit I used to think it was a gimmick and to a degree still believe it is. What i mean by that is if the person picking th barrel has shitty taste then u end up with a crappy store pick. Luckily the guy i've bought these last 2 picks from has good taste cause they have both been excellent.
