    Quoted from DBLM:

I dropped about 400 in a few hours. It only has a few tables but the food is great. There big thing is mixology. They smoke ice, infused drinks, everything. One of their signature drinks smokes in a Sherlock Holmes pipe. One drink they made me that was bourbon, Champaign, grape fruit, and a few others took about 10 mins to make with all the things they did. They said they had about 4,000 boozes in stock. Was definitely a blast.

Sounds great. I wouldn’t even know where to start on that list. I’d probably just be a deer in headlights and order a beer lol.

    Quoted from Fulltilt:

    I wish.... I don't have a bar. ):

I can hardly believe that. With all those bad boy bottles you have where do you keep em? Don't say on the floor under the stairs in the basement I already claimed that spot

It was a little intimidating. Because so much of the place is the production and craftsmanship that goes into things I didn’t want to go order bourbon on the rocks (besides the Pappy). Due to this, you just have to talk with the mixologists. They ask you what you like and a few other questions and go from there. Best to have an open mind and bankroll when you got to a place like this.

Don't you just love paying for the "privilege" of having others tell you what's best for you?

I was at a very poo-poo establishment recently where I asked the sommelier for a particular bottle (one that I have ordered prior in this establishment), and after they tried incessantly to steer me towards something else, quite rudely I might add, I just said very politely, "you know, maybe my wife and I will just have a bud light." At the immediate realization that they would lose their 15%-20% commission from the original $450 bottle I ordered, they backtracked.

Needless to say, we suffered down our bud lights, paid the $12 tab, and left. We went across town to our usual date night dinner place, and had a great meal.

Petty? Maybe. But it's my damn money, and I'll spend it how I want. Now get off my lawn!

Good call! You were more kind than I would have been. I would have walked out with nothing.

Now if only others on Pinside would let us do the same for pinball machines without calling us names. Yeah I know, I'm a dreamer lol.

On a different note, I wasn't a big fan of Stagg Jr neat but recently saw a Youtube video where they said it goes great with bbq. I normally don't do whiskey with food but I gave it a try and it actually works, go figure! It does have a very unique flavor so I guess it lends itself well to some foods.

Hmmm... Well since I don't want to see you have to choke that awful stuff down go ahead and send the rest of the bottle to me. I will properly dispose of it for you.

Hah, well it's definitely not awful! It has a unique taste but just not my thing.

    #1911 4 years ago

Works for me. Especially when it arrives unexpected on my doorstep!
    Cheers PinDeLaPin !

Better yet, the great bottle bag from Chisox has now made 3 successful runs.

Naked blonde walks into a bar she's got a poodle under one arm and a 2 foot salami under the other. Bartender says I guess you won't be needing a drink...
Let's see who is up on their 80's movie trivia but for now it's time for a drink!

Blanton’s is my go to for my flask too. Bring it to all my son’s football games. Whiskey and Friday night lights is a great combo.

Hey guys what do you think of Booker's? I've never tried it but people keep suggesting it on my Twitch streams. Asking because it's not cheap around here, between $70 to $90 depending on which one.

Its pretty good stuff. I know Fulltilt is a strong supporter of it.

As a side note the Bakers is a 7yr bourbon and damn good and its part of the Bookers family.

    #1926 4 years ago

Smoke as in Peat smoke and spice as in rye. I fully realize I can't get both from the same bottle....

    #1927 4 years ago

Bookers is my favorite. It is a very strong flavor and high in alcohol content. I prefer it to Stagg Jr, which is close to Booker’s in proof.

Stumbled onto something tasty. This is a harder one to find in Ohio with the liquor restrictions we have.

Sure hope everything works out that is really not a good situation. Keep us posted! In the meantime kick back with a floaty and enjoy that fine new bourbon.

Totally envious of you guys that own this bottle. Its the one I have never even tasted let alone owned. Some day I guess I will come acriss one and then I will join the Stagg club. Until then I will secretly detest all of you that have a bottle.

Anyone tried the new 4 roses single barrel select? It's not sold in missouri and wasn't sure if it was worth pursuing?

You’ll find one eventually. In the meantime it’s not that rare to find at bars/restaurants. In the meantime Stagg Jr. is getting really good, that batch 12 is great.

Oh yeah i'm a definite believer in the Stagg jr I really enjoy it. I've heard a lot of people say it's too strong but I have found a couple ice cubes will mellow it quite a bit. Think I need to go back on the hunt for another bottle now that you have me thinking about it

Taking a road trip down to Asheville, Smokies, Chatt, etc...

Anywhere we should stop for Bourbon fun en route?
Either places to shop for good stuff/rare stuff/etc...?
    or
Places worth touring/checking out a distillery?

    #1947 4 years ago

Just got home time for a drink.

Traveling from Asheville to Chattanooga, it's a small detour over here to Johnson City.
You can have a great drink and the best burger at The Label.
Step a couple doors down and play some pins at SilverBall City.
Travel a couple miles and pick up a bottle at Tennessee Hills in Jonesborough. Great folks.

I'll meet you at The Label and have a drink. Then play you some Oktoberfest at SilverBall City. (:
