Quoted from boscokid:I tend to migrate to vodka and tequila in the summertime. Proud of you guys for..........[quoted image]
I like vodka and tequila on occasion too but I’m the guy sitting in 100 degree heat by the pool drinking whiskey neat like a sociopath. I get a lot of looks in Florida haha.
Quoted from Chisox:Thank you St Louis Blues! Cheers! Now fuck off, I hate you again.[quoted image]
Shit... you gonna’ make me open the bottle
Quoted from Fulltilt:Shit... you gonna’ make me open the bottle
Stagg? Maybe a nip off the Boss Hog. And let’s get cracking on that bar! You deserve it.

We give and we give and we get nothing in return. Wheres the love?
IMG_84731 (resized).jpgSo being pissed off like most at how difficult it has been lately to source good bourbon I was bored and just googled "bourbon shortage". This article is a year old but really sums it up quite nicely about how the i dustry is trying to keep the shelves sticked for us all. https://www.gobourbon.com/buffalo-trace-releases-statement-bourbon-shortage/
Quoted from Whysnow:Camping supplies for the weekend[quoted image]
Very smart of you not to bring any food and take up precious space in the cooler to keep that bourbon cool

Man I dunno, it's plentiful around here. I've been venturing out into lesser known brands and have been hugely surprised, I'm liking the lesser known stuff more than the usual suspects when it comes to bourbon! Best thing I can suggest to people is step away from the typical stuff and explore the other parts of the rack, you'l be amazed at the good stuff that's out there.
IMG_20190516_191643 (resized).jpgI found Whistle Pig on the shelf for the first time. 10yr $85 and 12yr $125. Is this average pricing? There was only one of the 12yr.

A little high but not too bad. I’m a fan but Pikesville Rye at $50 is a gem. Also the newly released Old Forester Rye for $20 might be the best bang for your buck whiskey out there. It’s really good.

Congrats man but I’m hardwired to hate the Blues and Red Wings.
Quoted from PinDeLaPin:Here's a prime example of the horseshit price gouging that goes on around here. The Rock Hill Farms which is amazing is $199 and the jackass wants $125 for the bottle of Blantons right nxt to it.[quoted image]
Also, not downvoting you I’m downvoting those prices.
Backstory: Vermont’s liquor sales is controlled by the state. We have a small selection of anything, very limited supply, and prices throughout the roof. This is my selection:

Today I decided to make a trip to the liquor store to see if they had anything good in stock. The guy stocking the shelves asked what I was looking for and I told him I was looking for cask strength or anything decent that I might not be able to find often. He thought for a moment and led me to the back room.
From there we went into another locked room with the nice expensive bottles. Bottles I didn’t even realize Vermont carries. He recommended the Stag Jr (duh) told me to pick out anything else I wanted. Grabbed the other two bottles. Total price for the three bottles $214. I am more than happy with that.
Oh, he also told me to ask for him if I wanted to look around in the back again. You can bet your ass I will be.

Criminal. Bought 2 bottles of RHF for $55 a week ago. Also scored an ETL for $41 and Weller 12 for 55. Good day at the liquor store...

Walked into the local watering hole close to work with some colleagues. Went to the patio as normal and happen to glance at the bar.
When something caught my eye. BAM a nice Green, Burgundy and Black bottle combo of Weller sitting on the bar.
$10/pour for W12
Oh and a bottle of Blantons as well hiding amongst the scotch.
“‘Twas great
Pinside isn't just for pinball. It's showing me the trials and tribulations that some of us face here stateside, yet also the horn of plenty others have. If you ever think you got it bad in the bourbon department, talk to an Australian. I'm still trying to source that Blanton's Straight From the Barrel, one day...one day! Jealous of you that have it, thankful for what I have. Happy National Bourbon Day/Flag Day to those in the USA, cheers to everyone else.

Happy b-day indeed cheers! I tried my buddies Blanton’s STFB and absolutely had to get some. I had a French guy from the bourbon pages that I’d dealt with in the past send me a bottle. If you like Blanton’s you need to try it as the full proof is the definitive version. Good luck man. it’s worth it,

I’ve had beer finsihed in bourbon barrels but what does bourbon finished in beer barrels taste like? I’m intrigued.

It’s like super hoppy bro. Like a PBR or MGD. ::sips colt45 and strokes beard while popping collar on jean jacket::
Quoted from PinPatch:Funnily Blantons in whatever guise is real easy to get in Australia...
I was thinking more about what it costs down under, compared to here. I do that so I won't complain so much about our pricing.

Prices in AUD so multiply it by 0.7 and there is the USD price. Not too bad...
Quoted from djreddog:$79.99 for the big boy. Good price?[quoted image]
Yep. Right in line where it should be.
Enjoy!

Never seen that size bottle before and walked in this small town liquor store and they had 4!

$69.99 at Kreston's in Wilmington (95 & 202) if you get up this way, or check their Middletown store.
Quoted from Fulltilt:Going to pickup cookout supplies for tomorrow. BBQ Chicken, 'tater salad and cole slaw.
Intuition to stop by the store across the street....
The grocery run got more expensive!
[quoted image]
Thanks Fulltilt . I’ll be over with the ribeyes at 5:00. That batch 11 Stagg Jr is great too, nice score.
How is the wild turkey rare breed compared to 101? I just picked up a bottle of rare breed for the first time.

Thats a great price cause its like $96 for the big bottle around here.
Quoted from trudert9:How is the wild turkey rare breed compared to 101? I just picked up a bottle of rare breed for the first time.
Waiting on an answer on this myself. I’m a big fan of the 101 but haven’t tried rare breed yet.

Dug out 1 of my bottles that I thought you could appreciate.

If you like the Wild Turkey funk (which I do) you’ll really like Rare Breed. It’s obviously proofed higher at 115 or so but still has the same earthy herbal funk that makes WT so great. I still prefer Russell’s Reserve 10 yr SiB, but for $49 for a barrel proof bourbon it’s pretty tough to beat.

You were late... We added baked beans and Deb’s biscuits. And not to mention the Cherry Garcia for the fix.... along with sone Tennessee Hills Pecan Pie rum. Mmmmhh
Fun ? Of the night. My low to mid $30s go to has been Eagle Rare or more recently Rowan’s Creek. What else does the group have to suggest? Been reading decent things about Jim Beam black
Comments?

I like Maker's Mark 46, it's around $27.
Quoted from PinDeLaPin:Anybody ever had this Michters American? I've never seen it before now. Its a low proof bourbon at only 83 proof. Just wondering if it is worthwhile to pick up or not I like the regular michter's but was worried there wouldn't be much to this one[quoted image]
I've had it. It's not bad, but not great either. It's basically a light whiskey (unblended whisky aged in used bourbon barrels). I'd pass at that price. The US-1 next to it is pretty good, but its much better at it's suggested retail of $40.

Yeah I am glad I passed on it I had a feeling it was probably pretty crappy
