The straight edge on the other side is also very good also. Very different taste than most bourbons.
Never heard anything good about BD.

Havent seen this one anywhere yet how was it?

Very good but it is a bit pricey.
The release batches are pretty interesting. Don't see the big MO in there yet.

Yeah I'm not really sure why Mo is not on a lot of places release list. Missouri is the third largest consumer of bourbon and yet they send all their shit to us after they've sent it to every other hellhole first.

Damn nice score for sure especially that 12yr Weller.

Anybody ever had this one? Just picked it up middle of the road price $59. The clerk told me its difficult to come by and I have never heard of it but figured I would give it a try.

Anyone else seeing more Weller SR on shelves? It’s been easier and easier to find at its new price of $29.99 and by easier I mean 1 out of every 3 stores vs 1 out of every 10 like 6 months ago.

Not sure your location but around st louis its still very difficult to score a bottle of green label weller and damn near impossible to scire a bottle of antique 107.

Oh yes only the green label. 12 or antique are still impossible to find. Just curious to see it still sitting on shelves since the price has doubled in the last year. I stopped drinking it at $30/750 I know that.

I scored a green bottle last week I think it was like $31. I've just accepted that I have to pay higher prices cause as soon as it hits the shelves its gone.

Never seen Weller on the shelves in DE/PA/MD. Pennsylvania is all state controlled stores and they had Weller Special Reserve as 'online only' for $24.99 plus $7 to ship (within the state to your local store) with a limit of 3 but it sold out immediately

Definitely easier to find the Weller SR. Snagged a 12 a few days ago, but haven’t seen the 107 in a few months. Waiting for the Weller full proof, which is supposedly going to be widely available when it comes out in June. 115 proof.

    #1067 4 years ago

Definitely some high quality stuff for the price.

Just curious what the Weller 12yr goes for a bottle?

I’ve got a place that doesn’t really price gauge, so that’s what I pay. Secondary market has them going for over $175.
I’ve never seen it at any other store, so I don’t know how much they gauge it.

Must be nice! I get my George T for about $125. (:

    #1073 4 years ago

I found two on the shelf 2 years ago for $50 each. I bought one and left one for some other lucky bastard. I came back two weeks later and it was still there. Thank you bourbon karma gods. I can’t even tell you the last time I’ve even seen Antique on the shelf outside of some jackass asking $99 for it.

    #1074 4 years ago

Time to say goodbye to one of the most disappointing bottles of whiskey I’ve ever bought. Goodbye my average friend.

Tried two new ones today, I liked the story of Freedom Whiskey being 100% veteran owned so I gave it a shot. Not spectacular, but it's good. The other one though, The Burning Chair, that's up there as one of my favorites, so good! Love the black bottle as well.

This stuff is junk. All this has to offer is an initial burn on the front. It has zero body with a funky taste and nothing on the back of the tongue. Had high hopes for this one but was really disappearing

I just poured a glass. It’s a very solid daily drinker. Not gonna knock your socks off but it’s tasty. Getting hard to find though and when you do the price has gone from $30 to $45.

A solid bourbon at a great price point from a great family owned distillery. Single barrel with a double digit age statement. The ones I've had were straight forward, no frills bourbon. Solid in a good way. The recent attention and accolades, along with the aforementioned age statement and price point make this more and more difficult for me to find. I think the Breaking Bourbon guys put it best:

    https://www.breakingbourbon.com/article/one-bourbon-to-rule-them-all

Question for the group-saw someone had the Old Ezra 7 barrel strength at their local store. How does that stack up against these Old Foresters, say the 1920?

Jaeg It's your money, but please read the [Breaking Bourbon] link and think before dropping that kind of coin. Unless it's from barrel #4976 and was put in oak on April 7, 2008 I would consider alternatives. I just saw the price you listed in your initial post and didn't see that you were considering the deal.

I think he’s maybe talking about the OF 1920? Either way, I wouldn’t. Send me a PM and I’ll send you a bottle at cost +shipping.

The Old Ezra 7 is good but Imuch prefer the 1920. I would put the OE 7 ahead of the 1910 as I’m not a huge fan of double oaked bourbon, although I do like one glass on occasion. The1920 is a very complex whiskey with the perfect amount of heat served neat for at me 115 proof. I’m a huge fan.

    #1100 4 years ago

Sorry for the confusion. That price is for Blantons. Its approx $20 per bottle over retail. To find it at retail in my area seems very unlikely.
