I’m at a small liquor store and they have OWA for $170 and Rock Hill for $200. Either one worth the price?

I'm in a lot of the secondary bourbon sales groups on Facebook (to buy, not sell). Typically you can get OWA for ~$100 shipped and RHF runs for $225-250 shipped, so the RHF seems like a decent deal.

Couple of new barrel picks from the club and someone gave me a new flask as a gift. Gotta drink to that, right? Cheers.

I’m proud to say as long as been drinking bourbon I’ve been able to share bottles with friends for the price it was meant to be. secondary sucks

    What is that Nashville Barrel?

    #10607 3 years ago

Patching floors is monotonous as hell. Let’s see if OBSK makes it any better.

Speaking of Nashville... Bill, have you ever tried that Davidson's Rye?

It’s 7.5 yr old single barrel MGP rye. Supposedly great.

    #10610 3 years ago

I think I’ll just stay here and drink.

    Quoted from Whysnow:

Did you already score the new batch?

I never even saw a batch 13 or 14 in Minnesota, last bottle I got was a 12 and that feels like it was ages ago. Enjoy that one!

I did not, but I have feelers out at all my usual places.

Unless if you are absolutely "in love" with a certain spirit/libation, there are very few truly worth $200+. The quality in liquors these days is so insanely high, and ultimately...they all eventually have the same effect. I always think of the other spirits I could have at that given price. It almost always outweighs the high costs.

Garrison Brothers Balmorhea is currently considered the best bourbon in the world (I would agree), and at $160 retail...IF you can find it...it is really at the tipping point.

I love pappy van winkle too, but it's price doesn't make sense for most people anymore.

Heck yeah! Elmer Lee yesterday and Weller full proof store pick today. Don't think this ends my drought as of late but definitely trending in the right direction.

Yes, if you can find it I can’t compete with the bourbon hounds, they stand in lines overnight to get first dibs!

I can find it sometimes but I certainly don't get it at cost or at MSRP.

That’s awesome you’ve come across the full proof, a few of them it seems!
I’ll probably find something this weekend but I’m sure it’s going to cost me dearly..... My wife at least has my back. She says, “ get it, it’s just money we’ll make more!” Who says that!!!

Saw my first COK in Delaware. 11.5 years. $129 decent or extremely high like usual in my state?

Online reviews say the 11.5 and 12.3yr (batch 3 and 4 respectively) are not as good as the 13yr (batch 5)

13yr/ batch 5 sells for around $150 retail. I would personally jump at the chance to try the 11.5 for $129 so if you are inclined to snag a bottle and ship then I personally would like to try it (despite online reviews)

I think that I paid $150 for the 12.3 that I got... Still waiting for my sense of smell to return before evaluating.

Fair price from what I have seen. My coworker has it and loves it but as Hilton says the reviews on the 11.5 have been mixed.

If you are hunting something in your area look for the Old Carter Barrel Strength that was only released here in the Mid-Atlantic. It is pricey at 220, but I enjoyed it and it is rare. 13 year MGP in the 117-124 proof. My bottle is 1 of 163, and some of the other ones had less. Since a barrel is 220 bottles, they had a fair amount of loss to the Angel's cut.

Yep, covid 5 weeks or so ago. Don't smell much besides a fart smell that nobody will claim (we call them phantom farts cause they seem to not be real). Today though I smelled a food truck cooking burgers, first real smell I've had since Covid. Then when I was eating said burger, no smell once again. Very odd.

That’s crazy! At least you are free to fart whenever you want! Sounds like you might be smelling reality soon!

Hey Bill, has this made you a COK lover?

    #10650 3 years ago

Went to my usual spot checking for that Stagg Jr., which they didn’t have, but I got these 2 store pics that I’m super excited about. Never even tried Yellowstone before but the 115 proof makes it very interesting. First thing Chisox told me when we started talking about bourbons.
    “Store pics are way better”.
