Well a few glasses of 130 proof should sure help kick that crap.

I have never had ER 17. I would pick WLW though, I prefer the 130ish proof of WLW over the 101 of ER.

When I first cracked it I thought it was so-so. Let it sit for about 2 weeks and it greatly improved. Vanilla and caramel. I think you might like it.

I don't know about you Don, but I get very happy drunk when I drink good tequila in quantity. It does sneak up on you fairly out of the blue, but I never get a hangover from good tequila.

Cheap tequila on the other hand...

I was able to enjoy some Garrison bros balmorhea yesterday. All I can say is "WOW!"

I know it is rated as the best bourbon in the world, but that's the first time I've ever actually had it. I have to say... it's better than pappy. It holds up to the lofty ratings. I think its the best bourbon I've ever tasted. Now I've just got to find a bottle, or 3.

What is the price point on that bottle? Is your Avatar for Terry?

It's $160 here and I wouldn't pay half that for it. I'm glad I got to taste it before committing to purchase.

That is great to know.... it isn’t in Ohio but at $160 I wouldn’t pull the trigger without trying first. Thanks

I had a store pick of some bottle of Gsrrison bros that was a barrel proof and it was decent but way overpriced at $199.

    #9819 3 years ago

I will have to try it if I see it. I have not been a fan of the Garrison Brother's bourbon in the past but I will have to check it out. I did look them up and the Balmorhea won best micro whiskey in the world twice, which is a great accomplishment.

    Best Hot Toddy recipe?

    Quoted from Green-Machine:

It is $160 (if you can find it in stock). It often goes for double to triple on the after market.
It's hard to justify paying that unless it's phenomenal, which I think it is.

Old Weller is pretty incredible at a much lower price point.

Yes, my avatar is for Terry. Thank you for asking.

My wife and I went over to visit with his partner Debbie yesterday. We had a nice talk with her. We just talked about the good time hanging out with them and shared some encouragement with her. I showed her how to get onto Pinside so she can see the thread about Terry. She didn’t know anything about it and was excited to read it

    Best Hot Toddy recipe?

I like this one. I normally skip the cloves and double or so the amount of booze. I have also mixed it with hot cinnamon tea in lieu of just the boiling water.

    Ingredient Checklist
    1 teaspoon honey
    2 fluid ounces boiling water
    1 ½ fluid ounces whiskey
    3 whole cloves
    1 cinnamon stick
    1 slice lemon
    1 pinch ground nutmeg

Pour the honey, boiling water, and whiskey into a mug. Spice it with the cloves and cinnamon, and put in the slice of lemon. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes so the flavors can mingle, then sprinkle with a pinch of nutmeg before serving.

Also, remember my personal homemade cough medicine:

    3-4 fingers of Bookers
Dump sugar and if you like maple syrup into the Bookers. Mix until dissolved.
Microwave for about a minute or so.

You will feel like a champion afterwards. Guaranteed.

Highly recommend it. For bourbon mixed drinks, I put it just behind Manhattans and my cough medicine. A good Old Fashion is great as well.

I haven’t had a Blood Oath since batch 2, still good stuff? That’s a solid Lux Row product. Speaking of which, all my bourbon buddies are calling bullshit on my raving reviews of that Lux Row since my taste buds are finally coming back. They just think it’s a case of not tasting a good pour in so long..I think they’re just angling to get a sample. Happy Friday y’all.

I’ve been milking this for three years now. Stagg Jr batch 9. This is the one that really got my attention and is generally regarded as, if not the best, one of their 2 best batches. I’ve read that batch 14 (the new one) is fantastic. In my opinion, Jr. is one of the best bangs for the buck out there not only at msrp, but even secondary pricing. I can get 2 bottles of Stagg Jr. for the price of one Elmer? Done and done. Cheers!

That bottle has been my favorite out of all I have tried this year. Already bought two and thinking of 3rd. Store pick at Total wine $67 out here vs regular $62 by them which I have never tried. Just love it.

Let me be the first to compliment your excellent taste in whiskey haha. RR (and 4 Roses) store picks are an automatic buy for me because at worst, they’re good. I currently have 18 RR and 9 4R store picks on my shelf and I would say at least half of them would smoke most of the bottles everyone chases.

100% agree. Russell's picks are one of the better things going in bourbon. Never been disappointed, and have often been blown away by them. This is my last of three bottles of a 2018 pick. Cheers to Jimmy Russell, who I believe celebrated a birthday today.

I didn’t do the Hot Toddy’s last night. So still waiting to try that! We had some cider mulling spices so I made bourbon spiked hot apple cider instead for a couple of the ladies last night. I was drinking my bourbon neat.

Our kids are all 14 and older, too cool for family movie night, but I still like to entertain so I had 5-6 families that live on the block come down for 2 outdoor movies with the little kids. Social distancing with families of course. First movie was A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, and second movie was Shrek the Halls.

Being the geek that I am I try and recreate the movie experience, so my movies last night included 20th century fox intros, MGM Lion, trailers, countdown clock, and some classic 70s movie snack bar commercials.
