Quoted from Fulltilt:Hello?! Can you come right over?
[quoted image]
Yes, I'm leaving right now. Should be there in about 12 hours. Seriously though, how in the hell did you find a 23 year in the spring?!? I have pins about that age and worth about that on the secondary....half my collection is probably worth the secondary market value of that bottle. (Not that I'm trading)
EDIT: My entire collection
That's just a white whale in my state. It never hits the shelves.
PA does a residents only lottery where you have to give the credit card to charge to when you submit your entry. That adds a fun wrinkle to using a straw purchaser

I made a "small" toast when I got it home. (:

I’m drinking some Benchmark with Diet Coke. BOOM
Been trying to find a bottle of Blantons. I think I’ve tracked one down but owner tested me with a bottle of Weller today. Up to $30 for a 1/5. I was paying $15 <1 yr ago from the same store. Ughhhh

Jumping through hoops to score Blanton’s. That’s what it’s come to.
Quoted from Chisox:I’ve had the 20 but not the 23. Report back on how it is. Either way, cheers my friend and enjoy.
I'm 63. When I hit that magic full retirement age of 66 I'll let you know. God willin'..

Assuming Weller SR? That's about the going rate around here. Last time I saw it, was $27 + tax for 1/5.

Surely there's a story behind this latest acquisition, more so than the Stagg was feeling lonely on the shelf.

Yep. I use to find it at MSRP of $55ish with dust on the box... guys laughed at me in college when I drank Weller instead of JB white label...
I hear that flavored vodka is the new thing. Start spreading the rumor

Does a players Royal Flush make the cut for just a dram?
Quoted from vaevictis:Surely there's a story behind this latest acquisition, more so than the Stagg was feeling lonely on the shelf.
No, pretty boring... both were for sale from a dealer in L.A. Got the Stagg and then had to have the Pappy.

I was kinda hoping for stories about the Dali Lama, explosions on the back 9, or being struck by lightning.

Going rate for those?
I stocked up on Antique when I was in Seattle 2 years ago. Bourbon is not a thing there. Crappy Craft beer cost more than Weller, eagle rare, even Blantons at every bar. ‘Twas a great week on the west coast for me.

I don't know. Stagg is pretty consistent. 23yr Pappy seems to be what is available for sale out there.

Duly noted, haven't had the opportunity to make it out there, but I'll pack my bourbon case if the occasion arises. Pappy Van Winkle 23 year is $295 MSRP. Montgomery county, outside of DC and a couple hours north of me, has county controlled liquor stores. Their annual lottery has it at +$1000.
Quoted from vaevictis:Their annual lottery has it at +$1000.
I paid + $1000 more and am pleased to have found it.

Locally I saw Stagg going for $500 bottle and it was only on the shelf for 2 days according to the store owner.
People are really taking the fun out of this...
What about cigars can we make them a thing again?
Quoted from Fulltilt:I paid + $1000 more and am pleased to have found it.
Never seen a 23 year in the wild.

My 50th is coming up and I’m thinking about buying myself a unicorn to celebrate. Lord knows nobody else will haha. Probably a 2018 Stagg.

And there's the Venn diagram for bourbon and pinball.

I doubt they even make it into the store anymore. 4 years ago a local bar at my old place did $6 shots of pappy 15 not knowing what they had. I lived <1 mile from the bar. Didn’t make it in time to enjoy it...

Whisky... United States...
Never know what you might find.
I'm thinking Whistle Pig, The Boss Hog would kick ass.
That Pappy is going fast.

I’m planning on making a ven diagram of pinball and whiskey on my 50th. I’ll be right in the sweet spot and nobody (wife) will be able to do anything about it.

This is one of my favorite charts. It's so true. I could give you pictures of Tiffany but I fear for my life.
Quoted from Fulltilt:It’s applicable!! Pinball and hot crazy zone!!
I drank a few bottles of each Pappy (10 through 23) before it became what it is.
I prefer the 12.
The 20 and 23 are too woody for me personally.
No matter it sure is fun to hunt, find, and drink them.
I suggest anyone that acquires a 23, to find the rest from that year and do a vertical. Best way to examine them and sinc eyou have a few years to hunt it wil give you something to look forward to.
Quoted from vaevictis:I'm down to my last 750 of the old label, holding on to that for a very special occasion or holiday-maybe a Tuesday. Good luck on your hunt.
Speaking of the old label I was digging through my collection and found this which i probably bought bout 8 or 9yrs ago.

Was in Kentucky for a baseball tourney and they had it at the bar I was at. Charged $170 a pour. Didn’t think twice about it, and I will say it was super smooth. Not worth that amount for a pour, but I’d never even seen it before.
Quoted from RA77:A really nice shine will Trump all the CHEM stuff
TPW FTW
You want the best ?
Tomato paste wash !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow thats quite a setup how bout some pics of the still?
Quoted from bobnatlanta:Makers. The last of a big bottle a friend bought me for bringing his Air Aces back to life. Blanton’s and Eagle Rare are also favorites. High West or Bulliet Rye, cask strength McCallan, or a Balvenie. Good times....good times.

Can I get some info on that light? Cheers!

Wow that’s the old old label, like 2003 old if memory serves. I may be wrong but it’s definitely at least two label changes ago. Cool.
That light...
