    Quoted from DBLM:

Hey whysnow, want to ask About your earlier dock picture. I noticed that it is an aluminum dock. Do it retract or remove for the winter? I know you guys in the upper Midwest have different dock concerns and construction then folks in other parts of the country.

Yes. That is a new dock. All aluminum. takes about 15minnto install or remove. Put it in each May and usually out after Halloween.

The old dock was all marine grade lumber. Like 220lbs per section and old disc plow used to make the standards. That thing sucked and took 2 people 2 hours to install. Lol. F that and glad I spent the 8k on the new dock.

That’s cool. Everything down here is fixed with the exception of floating sections. Due to the temperature and salinity (where I am, we are fairly fresh) the bay doesn’t freeze too much. Normally, just around little coves and in shallow spots. For boats that stay in, people put bubblers to keep from freezing. I know that in places that freeze hard the ice can destroy the piers.

It would be great to install once, but the lake here often gets 2ft of ice. That will kill a dock in a few days of freeze. Seems every year there is someone on the lake that leaves a dock in.

They do allow permenant poles to be put in and then use floating sections but that costs a ton to do and they still heave on big years.

Just poured me a nice bowz pour of Barrel bourbon and blasting some tunes.

    How many fingers is that?

It was probably about 3 of my fingers. Nice, legit pour but not my monster paw four finger pour.

Do we need to standardize our pour terminology?

Man I haven't had much time for drinking but finding time to squeeze in a drink now. Relocating a door to around the corner so as to make more room for another pin sometime. Basement looks like a war zone right now.

What a great store.... just sayin'.

    lol

I figured this was a chance for people to get the horizontal of Smoke Wagon.

As a guy that has never even seen it on the shelf and after hearing a few here rave about the uncut, I grabbed a trio.. $200 shipped to my door for 3 bottles is solid.

Don't have too high of expectations for the bottom of the line bottle. I found it to be less than appealing and set it aside for friends to use as a mixer when they come over. Not sure how the small batch and then the uncut unfiltered can be so good and that bottom bottle is just pretty bad in my opinion.

Yeah, I figured if 2 are god and 1 is swill then I am still happy.

Never even seen it on a shelf around here.

Yeah I think I know your taste profile pretty well I think you're going to find the small batch and the unfiltered are just fantastic. I honestly think I like the small batch better but that's not to take away from the unfiltered because it's freaking awesome as well. Can't wait to see what your thoughts are on both of those when they show up.

I also really enjoy doing the horizontal and vertical thing. It is cool to get 3 different bottles of the same overall mash to compare.

If you guys haven't tried this Woodinville I would highly recommend it. I think most of you know i'm a kentucky and tennessee purist but these boys in washington have really made a solid product. I asked 1 of my stores I visit to order some of the Woodinville finished in port barrels. Can't wait for that to come in because it is excellent as well.

    #6118 3 years ago

Think I just found a diamond in the rough in this bottle. It is a sazerac product thats distilled at the Barton distillery and is aged 6yrs. One of my shops gave me a sample and I was impressed especially when he told me it was only $24.

I say it all the time you have to have good cheaper bottles to supplement you. Can't drink $100 bottles everyday unfortunately.

I love Woodinville. I think the rye is even better bot both are well worth the 40-45 bucks they sell for. I think I will have a weekday pour of it myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

I think it is fine. I am not as much of a fan as others are, but I think it is a good pour for the price. No complaints, but it is not usually the first bottle I reach for.

You heard this stuff is going away, right? Brown-Forman sold it and Canadian mist to Sazerac. Better stock up if you can.
It may come back as something completely different,or not at all. I don’t think they bought the recipe, only the name.

Be on the lookout for a package from Illinois bourbon zoomers! Dropped off Chisox flights at his house today, and addressing and shipping the rest in the next few days. Like Hilton, there is a theme, so it should be interesting.
