You never know what you'll find at Costco, I was tempted for a moment but then I looked at the price tag. Is this stuff even decent?

Good god those taxes are outrageous.

    #5755 3 years ago

Opened the lower end one after champagne, margaritas, and beer today. Not bad for the price or memorable yet, like the Johnny Drum better only a little bit more, maybe time will change me tonight but had to open one new bottle I bought.

Those are some crazy tax rates but how cool is that? Plus isn't that 12yr 1792?

Thats good stuff. I looked on the ohio state website for a store close to me that had it yesterday.

    #5760 3 years ago

I think the full proof is pretty good too. The regular ol 1792, not so much

I sure hope we run outta rooms to paint here at my house. My wife keeps finding wonderful new colors to really bring the rooms to life. Anyone detect sarcasm?

Despite the ridiculously high taxes, if my calculations are correct (30 cases and barrel holding about 200 bottles) that’s like $15 per bottle. What does the 1792 12 year old go for?

I’d probably need a long straw also for the barrel...

$75 a bottle if you can find it

Pretty sure that they are six bottle cases, it says 180 - 750ml on the sign, so cost per bottle is around $46 taxes included.

Edit: It doesn't look like the 12 year either, just full proof.

Yeah it is confusing though because the sign says full proof but the boxes have the 12 on them which usually indicates years. As far as price goes the full proof is $50 again that is if you can find it.

I could fill a pool with full proof around here, it pretty much goes untouched on shelves. I know of three stores that have barrel picks right now, all priced at $45 (non store picks are $42). I actually prefer the 1792 Bottled in Bond to the full proof, it's the harder one to find here sometimes but there is quite a bit on the shelves at the moment.

I’m guessing I’ll still be on the road home from North Carolina, but I’ll update when we for sure have a plan. Friday night prob works, but then off to Iowa for a kid baseball tournament, so I’d be out until the next week.

I would prefer a Friday to be honest.

I'll be honest a Saturday night works the absolute best for me or Sunday nights for that matter. I clock in at 4 a.m. so it's a little difficult for me to stay up past 8 at night.

    #5776 3 years ago

    I am up for whatever.

    #5777 3 years ago

Might as well post this here. A buddy invited me over for a socially distanced porch drink last week.

Friday works, and most likely Sunday night, but this Saturday is bad.

Been looking for that one for quite a while so I wasn't screwing around. It is kinda lacking on the body but it is incredibly smooth and develops late on the backside.

I really enjoy the 2019 release. Haven’t been able to find the 2020, but I’d pull the trigger in a heartbeat if I did.

I have Monday off, so Fri, Sat, or Sun would work.

(But so would Mon, Tue, Wed, or Thu.)

On a side note, I’m so locked on the bourbon page that I didn’t even realize Stern is releasing TMNT until I saw it on my google stories. I think clicked on the forum tab to see any info on it, and there’s a thread of like 1000+ posts already. Read the last few pages and holy crap-the arguing and whining is off the charts!! I think I’ll stick to the bourbon thread...

Also-been hitting some ABC liquor stores in North Carolina-solid assortment of different bourbons, although the guy was super excited to tell me he just got a shipment of Hudson’s baby Bourbon. I asked him if it was a cask strength or aged and he said “no-we really haven’t seen It here for a while.” I was like “ok great...see ya”. The Meijer by me has this stocked at all times, so it caught me off guard he was so excited about it.

Good god man. Raising a glass to you!

Also, if anyone is on the fence on the Booker's Granny's Batch I'd suggest you give it a shot. This is the first time I've revisited it since opening a month or so ago, I liked it then but am really enjoying it now. I'll buy another for sure.
